Jake's POV

I have been racking my brain on ideas to have a way to get a mark on me from Colson when Den had the brilliant idea of a tattoo of his dog tags on a chain like he wears and have the dog tags themselves on my left peck over my heart. I am glad dad had made him get a check up before we mated because the pack doctor had his blood stored like all of ours so I was able to get a little bit of it to add it to the black ink so I will have his scent mixed with mine in the tattoo so that's pretty awesome.

So to make it more memorable for me, I decided to take Den out of school since it's Friday and took him with me to get it done, Len had an important meeting the student council since he is part of it or he would have came with us.

"So, how are you holding up since Colson left? The last time he left you were a mess." Den asked on the way to the shop.

"Same as before but I am handling it better, him coming home for that week really helped. I just can't wait for him to come home for a while. I won't ask him to retire from the service because it's part of who he is so I will just enjoy the time we do have together when he gets home until he gets called back out, if he does. Who knows what the future holds." I said honestly and he smiled.

"Good. I don't want him to retire either. When are Conrad and Ben's brothers coming back?"

"Hmm I'm not sure, why?" I asked him and I saw him blush a little bit.

"Just wondering. Jaylen and I had a good time with them and just wanted to hang out again."

"Ah ok well I could put in a call to Conrad when we get back and see if they have time to come for maybe a week. The guest room is still set up from when they spent a couple days when Colson was home so I'm sure they can stay at the house again."

"Awesome! Oh, were here. I didn't even realize you parked."

"Yea a couple minutes ago. Come on." I have a feeling one of them brothers are his mate, just won't know for a few more weeks when Ben's brothers turn sixteen. If they are mates, I just hope Alex or Alek whomever tells Jayden because I don't want my brother suffering. My brothers will be sixteen in a few months so it's not to far off from Ben's brother's, so we'll see.

We walk into the shop and I smile, in a few minutes I will be getting the most important and personal tattoo of my life.

"Hey welcome Jake! Long time no see man, how the hell have you been?!" A person I haven't seen since senior year of high school said as soon as he saw me.

"Hey Chris, I'm wonderful actually. I found my mate and that's why I'm here. He's human like you and he can't mark me so I have an idea of a tattoo so can we go and talk about that?" I asked and he nodded and gave me a big smile and hugged me.

"I'm happy for you Jake. I know how long you have been waiting for your mate. So, tell me about them." He said as we were walking back into his office.

"Well he's almost twenty-six, he's in the Army and he owns the diner across the street. His name is Colson which I'm sure you know that."

"Woah nice, he's fine as hell. Congrats. So tell me about this idea." We sat down and I told him about my idea for the tattoo and gave him the blood sample and he mixed it into the ink in his office because well mixing blood with ink in front of others would just raise a lot of questions.

The reason Chris knows about me is because one day I had to run home and I had to shift into my wolf in order to get there and I was with Chris, well I didn't make it out of eye shot fast enough before my wolf form took over and he saw it, the next time he saw me he asked me about it and I knew I couldn't lie because I didn't want him to think he was crazy so I told him. I have known him since we were small so I knew I could trust him.

After he got done mixing the ink we made our way out to his own area and I sat on a chair and took my shirt off and I had already shaved the little bit of fine hair on my peck so all he had to do was draw the design on my body. He is amazing at free hand drawing, so I just let him do his thing.

*2 hours later

After Chris finishes up the last detail in the dog tag, I feel horrible pains in my lower stomach lower back and left leg and left arm. I scream in pain and fall to the ground trying to rip my clothes off because it feels like my flesh is melting off of me. Den and Chris are trying to figure out what is going on but I can't tell them because I have no idea.

3rd Person POV

I sit back and watch Colson and his buddy Ben on patrol, I have watched them for months and they seem to take the same way on the same day of the week, so I had planted an IED on the path Colson walks. See I hate the man with a burning passion because he stole Jake from me. Jake and I were together in high school from ninth grade till the end of senior year. He goes off to Alpha camp after graduation and we were still together, he comes back and found him mate. He told me he found his mate and broke up with me. I knew who his mate was because we ended up on this deployment together out of sheer fucking luck. When I saw him, I knew I had to come up with a plan to get him out of the way so I can get my Jake back! He was mine for years before he found that bastard and now, he will pay!

I watch as the bomb goes off and listen to the sweet sweet sounds of Colson screaming on the top of his lungs from the horrible pain he feels. It brings a smile to my face and warms my heart to hear him scream like that. since he is human, it will take a miracle for him to survive because he stepped right on the bomb and I saw flesh and blood and bone fly everywhere so for him to survive, well let's just hope he doesn't!

I am happy though that Ben didn't get hurt, I like Ben. He is a nice man who has told me to do whatever it takes to get my man back, granted I never told him it was Jake whom I wanted, just told him I was with someone and he left me and Ben told me to not give up and show him I am not going anywhere. If he knew it was Jake, I'm sure he would have said something different.

I watched as Ben and some other guys run to Colson to get him to the med tent to work on him and I laugh as I watch them from a distance carry his mangled and bloody body as fast as they can. I will be seeing you again Jake, just you wait!!

Jake POV

Somehow Chris and Jayden were able to get me home and I have been here for the past few hours still in pain and the doctors and nurses are trying to figure out what is going on when all of a sudden uncle Hunter runs into the room and grabs dad and pulls him to the side of the room and talks to him. From the look on dad's face, it isn't good. Dad walks over to my bedside and grabs my hand and sits beside me on the bed.

"Son, there has been an accident. The pain you feel is the pain Colson is feeling. He walked on a bomb and got blown up, he's in pretty bad condition and they don't think he is going to make it. They have asked for you to go over there and be with him, they have requested our head doctor and nurse to go with you to help with him. I can go with you if you want son." He said as tears ran down his face and I couldn't breath nor talk but I did manage a nod and he nodded back and left the room.

"My phone, charger and couple change of clothes should be enough dad, don't over pack. Once Colson is stabilized, we are headed back here." I told dad through the mind link and he said ok.

"Uncle Hunter, let me talk to Ben." I said and he handed me his phone and Ben was on Skype looking like hell.

"Ben." I was in disbelief because he looked horrible and he was crying and had blood and dirt on his face and his t shirt.

"Jake. I'm so sorry, I didn't see it Jake I didn't see it." He said and cried even harder.

"Ben, it's ok, listen to me. You send me an email with what I need to do and whom I need to talk to once we get there so I can get to Colson and you tell Colson I am on my way and for him to just hold on and that I love him. I will be there as soon as I can. How is he doing honestly?"

"I'm not sure, as soon as they started working on him I came and called Alpha Hunter. I don't even know if the pup made it." When he said pup I felt my chest get tight and if I wasn't already in bed, I would have fell because my knees went weak.

"What are you talking about, what pup Ben?" I asked as steady as I could.

"Um your pup? Colson didn't tell you he was pregnant, did he?"

"No Ben he did not tell me. When did he find out?"

"About a month after we got back so three and a half months ago. He was a month along when he found out. I thought he told you Jake, I'm sorry."

"Just go check on my mate and see how he is doing and the pup and let me know when you send that email, now Ben please, I need to know like now."

"Of-course. I will email you in like ten minutes. Talk soon." He said and ended the call. I sigh and run my hands over my face and let out a frustrated grunt and get out of bed.

I met dad and the doctor and nurse at the door, and we say bye to everyone, and we get into an SUV and we are taken to the airport. Dad is holding my hand the whole time and it is taking everything in me to not just break down and lose it. We get to the airport and are taken to a private jet after I meet with one of Ben's pack members whom I was told to meet, and we board the jet and get ready to take off to go and hopefully bring my mate home, alive. I can't lose him, I can't. I just got him, and we are starting our life together, I can't just lose him now without him making an honest man out of me and saying yes when I ask him to marry me. I just can't lose my heart, my soulmate, my love and my life.

*16 hours later

We arrive at the land field and when we get off the jet there are met with humans and wolves.

"Hey Jake. Ah sorry for the humans being here but we had no choice but to tell them who you were and about Colson being your mate because they had to do an ultrasound on his stomach to find the bleeds and they saw the baby, so I told them about us. I had no other choice." Ben said and he hugged me, and I just nodded.

"That's fine, I don't care about that right now. Take me to my mate." I said and he nodded, and everyone started walking off toward the base medical tent and the men in front of us stopped before we could enter.

"Jake, Colson is in bad shape. He has burns all over the left side of his body, his chest and back. He had a lot of metal removed from his body and his left leg, it's in a cast with screws holding his bones together, his left arm, it had to be amputated at the elbow, it couldn't be saved. His left side of his face is also burned badly, and he may have lost his site in his left eye. He may not make it through the next twelve hours. I just wanted to prepare you before you went in and saw him. I am truly sorry about this. It seemed like the bomb was small and was triggered remotely. Someone had aimed to kill him on patrol, the bomb was planted on the route they took the other day and they were watching and when Colson stepped on it, they triggered it. About your baby, he is also on life support. He is very tiny and needs a lot of help to also stay alive. He weighs two and a half pounds and is thirteen inches long. His skin is almost transparent and very thin so you can't hold him, you can touch him but very gently and don't rub his skin, it can tear. I have them both side by side so it would be easier for you to be with them both. Are you ready?" The man asked me and all I could do is nod and swallow the huge lump in my very dry throat.

He opened the door and we all walked in and when I saw my mate and baby, lying there fighting for their lives, I lost it and the last thing I saw was my dad grabbing me before I hit the ground before darkness over took me.
