Sawyer POV

I watched as Jake walked out of the house after he put his clothes back on and I sighed softly and sat at the island watching Danny get stuff out to make dinner.

“He’ll be fine Sawyer, they get into these fights once in a while. Jayden is hot headed and Jake is most of the time calm but when Jayden said what he did about Colson, Jake wasn’t in control, his wolf was. They will talk it out later and everything will be fine.” Danny said as he was leaning against the counter looking at me.

“Yea I understand but Jayden shouldn’t talk about mates like that especially when Colson's death is still so raw for everyone. I know we shouldn’t have done what we did on the couch but Jake did try to stop me and I didn’t want to stop. It was in the heat of the moment and Jake did tell me he wasn’t going to push me aside so what we do is our business. I’m sure he wouldn’t like it if Jake stood and watched him with his mates and than yell at him for it. I know I have no place here to say this but it’s how I feel. I will do anything for Jake and if my mouth runs and people don’t like it well that’s their problem. Mates are supposed to have your back no matter what, right?”

“Right. I have no problem with you protecting Jake cuz goddness knows it hasn’t happened yet so it’s nice to know you will do just that for him. I’d kill anyone for my mate no questions asked. Well my mate and kids. Next time though, take it to the bedroom or spare room that isn’t being used. Outside I don’t care if you fuck in the woods but I really don’t want to hear or see my son being pleasured alright? Or you so outside or bedroom.” Danny said pointing at me and I giggled.

“No problem. We weren’t expecting anyone to come home to be honest. We were just cuddling and talking and my hand wandered and well yea but I promise no more on the couch when y’all are around the pack  house. Do you need any help?”

“Sure, you can peel the potatoes and I’ll get the steak seasoned.” I nodded and got the stuff to start peeling potatoes and washed my hands and the potatoes. I sat back down and was working on them and about twenty minutes later Jake walked in and put his arms around my shoulders and kissed my temple and put his cheek on my head and sighed.

“Jake, how’s my grandson?” Danny asked as he flipped one of the steaks.

“Good, resting so I didn’t hold him this time. I can’t wait till he is better so I can bring him home. Doc said in a couple more months possibly so we’ll see. I’m just happy he is getting better each day.” Jake said and sat down beside me.

“I'm happy to. When are you going to see him Sawyer?” I looked over at Jake and he shook his head.

“Not for a while, Stone is holding back as it is when it comes to the doc taking care of him. I don’t want Sawyer to get hurt by my wolf even though he is our mate.”

“Which is fine, I told you I can wait. Right now is a very sensitive time for you both so no need to worry about it. I promise I am ok with waiting.” I said honestly. I know how a wolf is with their pups and especially pups as weak as Connor is so I have no problem in waiting to meet the little prince who has my mates heart in the palm of his little hand.

“I was just asking. If Stone gets to be to much Jake let me know and I’ll have Riley handle him. No need to worry about your mate getting hurt for wanting to see your pup.”

“Thanks daddy. Dinner about done? I want to take my sisters out for ice cream before they go to bed.”

“Yea in half an hour it’ll be done. They will enjoy you taking them, they missed their big brother.” Danny said smiling at Jake.

“I missed my little sisters too. Sawyer, would you like to come with us?” Jake asked placing his hand on top of mine.
“I'd love to.” I said blushing with the look he was giving me and he smiled brightly and chuckled when he saw my red cheeks.

“Your brothers?” Danny asked.

“Len sure, Den no not until he comes to talk to me. I’m not going to him this time.”

“Understood, just don’t let this drag out for days Jake.” Danny warns him and Jake rolls his eyes.

“Yes sir.” He said and laughed when Danny swatted his arm.

“Make yourself useful and set the table.” Danny said to Jake.

“Hey you have other kids, why make me do it?” Jake whine as he grabbed plates.

“Because you see you are the only kid of mine in the kitchen so get to it."

Danny sassed and Jake chucked and went to set the table for dinner and I was handed glasses so I went to help.
“I like your dad, he’s nice.” I said as I put the last glass down.

“Yea he’s great. He has sacrificed a lot for us when we were growing up. He put us first before anyone and anything so I am thrilled he is finally happy. I hated seeing him so down and depressed before he met Craig. Am I going to be able to meet your parents soon, did they come down with everyone else?” Jake asked as he pulled me close to him and he put his arms around my waist. I sank into his broad chest and inhaled taking in his amazing scent as I did.

“No, it’s just Brian and I. They died in a rogue attack when I was thirteen and Brian was eleven.” I said softly and he kissed my forehead.

“I’m so sorry baby.” He whispered and kissed my forehead again. I closed my eyes and felt the sting of tears and tried to hold them back.

“Thanks. It was hard, but we managed and we’re ok. As long as Brian is ok I’ll be ok. Now I have gained two more brother’s and two sister’s. A mate and a son and more kids in the future, I think I’m more than ok.” I said looking up into his eyes as he looked down at me. He smiled a gentle smile and kissed me softly. His lips are so sweet and soft and the way he is touching me, holding me makes me feel so loved and this moment is perfect.

“Don’t mean to interrupt your moment but dinner is done boys.” Craig said and we looked over at him as he walked in carrying a dish of vegetables.

“It’s ok papa, I’ll go help daddy bring in the rest.” Jake said and kissed my cheek and went into the kitchen.

“You alright Sawyer?” Craig asked.

“Yea, I’m alright. Why?”

“You just looked a little sad is all.”

“I was talking about my parents so that’s probably why. I’m alright though. Thank you for asking.” I smiled and he nodded.

“Of course. Anytime you want to talk, I’m here.”

“Thank you. I do have something I want to talk to you and Danny about. It’s something I want to do for Jake.”

“Alright we can talk after dinner.” He said and I agreed as the rest of the family came in. Even Brian which I was happy to see him join.

“Brian hello I’m Jake, sorry about our first meeting. I wasn’t at my best I’m sure you can understand.” Jake said and shook Brian’s hand.

“It’s nice to meet you Jake and yea I understand. No hard feelings.” We all sat down and waited for Danny to give the ok to start.

“How are you all settling in since you got here?” Danny asked us.

“Good, still getting used to all this land. It’s beautiful here.” Brian answered for us and I nodded.

“That’s good. If anyone gives you problems just let me know and I’ll handle it.” Jake said and Danny looked at him.

“Alpha Jake so soon?”

“Yes, it’s about time I step up and let uncle’s Hunter and Mason live their life. They deserve it. Also daddy, if you and Sawyer agree, why don’t you step down and Sawyer can take over as Beta until Jayden is of age and he will become 2nd Alpha. Also Ben and Conrad are going to be my partners in running the pack. Ben is an Alpha and is used to it and Conrad to be Lunos since that has been who he has been since he mated to Ben so I won’t take that title from him. It’s your choice to let Sawyer be Beta but my choice about Ben and Conrad. I already talked to my uncle’s and they have no problem with my choices. I want you to be able to enjoy the girls and not work anymore. You of all people daddy deserve this.” Jake said and everyone was looking between him and Danny.

“Alright, when you take over as Alpha I will hand over the Beta title to Sawyer. Thank you son.” Danny said and Jake nodded.

“No need to thank me daddy. Now let’s eat! It looks delicious!” Everyone got food and dinner went great with light conversation and Jayden and Jake even talked softly and by the looks of them joking I would say they are ok again.

Looking at this family and seeing how happy they all are I can’t help but be grateful to be here and be a part of it.
