The Dangerous Forest Monster

A Blue Deal
Chapter 1
The Dangerous Forest Monster

You quickly put on your shoes and outfit that you had picked out the night before, everything was prepared for today.

You grinned at yourself in the mirror for a moment before you eyed your satchel that sat on your bed, good thing you set it out or you might have forgotten about it!

After opening the satchel up, you quickly filled it with a notebook and a textbook that concealed a colouring book on the inside. It took a while, but you finally cut through your math textbook from the other year and managed to get away with it.

You put a pencil in the front pocket beside a deluxe packet of 24 brand new crayons. You would have gone for the 64 pack of crayons, but no, your parents just do not understand you. You sighed in disappointment as you now held the small box of crayons in your hand. At least it wasn't an 8 pack of crayons though.

Once you had everything prepared, you turned towards your bedroom door an left. You walked up to your parents who were in the kitchen, with a grin on your face they raised their eyebrows slightly, "Are you ready to go?" Your mother asked, to which you nodded.

"The car is on, then, let's go." Your father stated. You nodded once again and as you were going to turn to the door to put your satchel in the car, your mother stopped you.

"______, wait." She called out.

You turned towards her, "Yeah?"

"Well, since you're going to visit your friend, I thought that I should give you this book, your father found in in the attic a while back while he was cleaning it out." She extended her arm and You carefully took the book. It looked ancient.

"M..." You said under your breath, "What is it?" You asked.

"Nothing I think. It's just some fake magic book my mother used to have, maybe you and your friend can use it to go adventuring since there are some maps in there." She responded.

"Psh, adventuring? That's for children!" You laughed, eyeing the satchel by your side, no one must know about the colouring book... No one.

"I can take it back then." She responded.

"What? No!" You defended, you jumped foreword and hugged your mom then smiled, "I'll see you in a month!"

Your mother smiled faintly, "Alright, make sure to call us when you get there and everyday before you go to bed." You nodded, "Don't worry, I will, and it'll be quick, before you know it, I'll be back."

Your mother hugged you again, "I love you." She spoke, kissing your head, "I love you too!" You smiled, waving goodbye as you entered the car with your dad.

---

"Dad?"

"... Yes?" He muttered.

"So, I may have asked this once or twice or.-"

"Or 57 times in the last minute?" He huffed.

"Yeah, well, are we there yet?" You grinned.

Your dad frowned as he rubbed his eyes, "Look, I'm your father, so I'll be honest here, you have not stopped talking since we left. What is a Dexter? And there aren't eight seasons, there are only four: Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer. And why does everything have to revolve around those two brothers? Why? That doesn't make sense? Also, how aren't they dead yet? They fuck up so much and they're not dead, how?" He turned towards me momentarily.

You looked away and awkwardly tried to turn the volume up on the radio, "Dad, the volume is broken." You spoke quietly, repeatedly pressing the buttons.

"It wasn't broken when we got in the car." He spoke, you moved your hands and he pressed around, but with no luck, it didn't work, "Just play on your phone, or take a nap, I don't know, but we should get there in two hours." He spoke.

"Yeah, alright." You slipped off your shoes and pulled the book your mother gave you out of your bag and opened it up, "Do you think this is for real, dad?" You asked, flipping through the book.

"I don't know, it looks really old." He responded.

Since you already had it out, you decided to continue looking through, seeing strange writings and things that looked like codes, then as you continued flipping through, a spell caught your eye, freezing time... You read in your head the incantation below the picture of a clock. Quickly memorising it, you continued reading. Below the spell, it stated that by casting the spell, the only way to have time go back to normal is to say the spell backwards. You laughed to yourself causing your father to turn towards you and raise a brow.

Keeping the book in your hands, you decided to look through it, maybe the book was real and maybe it wasn't. Either way, it would still be fun to keep looking through it.

---

"Wake up, ______, we're here!" You heard your dad call out.

You opened your eyes and sat up, looking out the window, "It's dark." You yawned.

"Yeah, there's a lot of trees, and nature, do you know what that is?" He asked.

"Yeah?" You responded lamely.

"I'm pretty sure this is the first time in a long time that you have been this close to a tree, you know, with you being locked up inside and all." He laughed.

You opened the car door and stretched your legs and arms, "So this is it?" You asked aloud.

Your father got out of the car and got your bags, "Yep, now let's head inside, your friend told us meet her here, but I don't know if it's opened." He pointed at the rather large tourist shop.

"I can take it from here dad!" You smiled, turning towards him. He set your bags down on the ground beside you, you then reached over and hugged him, "I'll see you and mom soon! And I'll call tomorrow morning, okay?"

"Alright, _______, be good, and remember, only use that money we have you for emergencies." He lectured. You nodded and waved goodbye as he headed back to the car, "I know, dad, I'll miss you, goodbye!"

"Goodbye!" He waved. You watched his car leave the area before you turned back towards the shack. You noticed that the 'S' had galled off. Hah. Mystery Hack.

You walked up to the door and as you were going to knock, the door opened, revealing a young man, "Mabel, let's go catch the monster now-AH!" He screamed upon seeing you.

Somehow this was a somewhat normal greeting now, you were startled at his reaction and screamed back.

"Sorry!" He exclaimed, passing by you, "The store is closed by the way, sorry, you can come back in the morning!" He added.

You pressed your lips together and picked up one of your bags and stepped inside, "Well I'm not here to shop." You responded, as you said that, your eyes dropped down to see a familiar book in his hands.

Your eyes slightly widened, but just as they did, someone was suddenly hugging you tightly, causing you to drop your bag again.

"_______! You made it!" Mabel laughed. She let go of you and turned towards the boy, "Dipper! This is _______! See? I told you she was going to be here soon!"

"Wait, you're ______?" He asked, "Hi, I'm Dipper... But you already know that. Not that I'm trying to play it off like you should have known that, but I'm just saying that because Mabel just said it and-" Mabel then interrupted, "_____, let's go put your things in the room then we can go adventuring!"

She pulled your hand up the stairs and towards a room in the attic, "Here!" She exclaimed, letting you admire a pillow castle she had built for you.

Pillow castles? Colouring books? Crayons? Totally not childish!

"This castle is mine, you're the guest so you should get the bed!" She spoke, making you tense up slightly.

"No!" You exclaimed.

She was silent for a moment then burst out laughing, "Alright, well, you can have the castle then and I'll stay on the bed."

"Yeah alright!" You grinned proudly.

Dipper ran upstairs, turning towards Mabel, "Come on, we have to go or we might not get to see the monster!" He exclaimed, he turned towards you and smiled, "Do you want to come? I'm sure you'll enjoy seeing it, or you know, you might get scared, but won't it be fun?" He asked eagerly, running back downstairs.

Mabel and you exchanged looks as you dropped everything by the pillow castle except for, of course, your amazing satchel...

---

"We're going to go find the evil, dangerous, soul eating Forest Monster, Grunkle Stan!" Dipper shouted.

"We'll be back later!" Mabel followed.

"I don't know you very well, but goodbye!" You shouted, following the two.

He walked out into the middle of the store with a cup of coffee in his hands, "I don't remember there being three of them... Oh well, I'm sure they'll be safe out there in that forest with the evil and dangerous monster... Ugh.. Wait!" He froze as he looked down at his coffee, "It's missing the sugar.."

---

"It should be down here!" Dipper said in a whisper as he led the way through the forest.

"I thought you said it had really good hearing." Mabel said.

"I did, so be quiet or it might find us before we find it." Dipper replied.

"But you're the only one talking!" Mabel responded.

"Obviously not because I'm talking to you! Be quiet!" He shushed.

"So ugh Dipper, you're the genius here, how big did you say this forest monster guy was supposed to be?" I asked, totally not whispering.

"Like ten feet tall, and it has black fur and-" He began only for me to interrupt, "And like, weird blue eyes, right?" I asked.

"Yeah how'd you - oh..." He said as Mabel turned around and they both looked up at it's strange eyes with me. Dipper raised his camera and the flash from the camera caught the monster off guard, causing it to stumble backwards as we ran away.

"This way!" Dipper shouted as we turned past a tree and ran back towards the Mystery Shack, sorry, Mystery Hack.

"Dipper, it's right behind us!" Mabel shouted, "Just keep running, we're almost at the shack!

Since Dipper was the one holding the flash light, Mabel and I followed his movements through the forest as he jumped over tree branches on the ground and through all the bushes. The Mystery Shack was just in sight, but out of no where, the monster jumped in front of Dipper, causing him to drop the flash light in fear.

"Ugh, this way!" He shouted, changing his direction to try to run around the monster.

"The flash light!" I muttered, noticing that the monster had run past me and was chasing them two, for the moment, I didn't feel afraid since you know, that flash light seemed pretty important. And my priorities didn't really seem to be in order here. Run away from a scary monster or risk my life for a flash light that could be replaced after we got to safety?

As I did so, I chased after the other two, the monster was in front of me just not paying me any attention almost as if it seemed to be drawn to fear, "Hey!" I shouted over to the two hoping they would be able to hear me over their pounding hearts.

"What? _____? What are you doing back there?" Mabel asked, turning to see me behind the monster, "You're supposed to be in front of it when it's chasing you, not behind it!" She began to laugh.

The monster stopped to look at her for a moment before turning back towards Dipper, he was still afraid of it.

"Dipper!" I shouted as I ran up beside Mabel, "Don't be afraid of it!" I shouted.

"How can't I be afraid of a monster that's about to eat me?" He asked somewhat agitated.

"It'll only eat you if you're afraid of it!" I shouted back.

"That makes no sense!" He shouted back to me. I frowned slightly as I turned to Mabel and she returned the smile, "Come on!" I said running after the monster and Dipper, maybe there was another way to help him.

As we approached the monster, Mabel managed to hit it in the back with a rock, causing him to turn around, infuriated. It's blue eyes were glowing as it looked back and forth at the two of us for a moment.

I looked down at the flash light then out of curiosity raised it up to the monster's eyes to see if I could sort of blind it long enough for us to run back to the shack. As the light hit it's blue eyes though, a cracking noise was heard causing me to panic a little, "What's that?" I asked.

"Look!" Dipper pointed from the other side of the monster, with the light still on the monster's eyes, I looked down at the monster's body as it was seemingly turning to stone. The cracking was coming from it trying to break loose.

"Let's run back to the shack!" Dipper shouted over to us, Mabel and I agreed as I moved the light from the monster's eyes and followed behind the twins as we dashed back to the shack, from behind us, we could hear the monster let out a roar.

As we all made it inside, we began to relax and then as we saw each other's worried glances, we all burst into laughter.

"I think that to celebrate, we deserve some pancakes!" Mabel cheered.

"Yeah!" I agreed in unison with Dipper.

-

"So how did you know to do that? Like, that pointing the light at it's eyes would turn him to stone or that by not being afraid of it, it wouldn't chase you?" He asked.

I shrugged as I took a sip of the juice, "I just reacted like I would and by saving that flash light you dropped, I just happened to luck out and figure those things out." I responded as he wrote something down in his notebook.

He smiled up at me as he closed his book, "Well thanks for being able to help us! Who knows what would have happened, had you not been here!"He thanked.

"It was nothing!" I smiled, flattered by the idea that I was now a hero and soon... A super hero!

"Oh man!" Mabel shouted as she brought us the pancakes, "I tried to make them look like Waddles, but I think I burnt them a little!"She explained as she dropped the food onto our plates.

Dipper looked past Mabel and over at the counter and frowned, raised the burnt pancake with his fork, "Mabel, these are microwaveable pancakes!" He said, "You could have just put them in the microwave and they would have been ready a long time ago!"

"Oh right!" She burst into laughter, I soon joining in with her laughing with Dipper. It might only be a month that I'm spending here in Gravity Falls, but if this was my first day, I can't wait to find out what this place has in store...!
