Kindness Is A Virtue

A Blue Deal
Chapter Three
Kindness Is A Virtue

My cheeks were flushed red as Candy and Grenda tried to comfort me while we ate at Greasy's Diner. Mabel was talking to Dipper outside and though the windows were glass, I couldn't see either of them from where I was sitting.

"Are you really that embarrassed?" Candy asked, rubbing my back as she pushed the fries closer to me. I frowned slightly as I continued drinking the soda from the straw, "I wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to talk to me ever again." I muttered, over-reacting, but quite anxious.

"You're over-thinking it, you have nothing to be afraid of, besides you should be happy, I mean did you see how we all managed to get away from that monster thing? Now you have another cool story to tell when you get back!" She smiled.

I nodded slightly, pushing the empty cup away from me, "I guess.."

"Hey, you know what you need?" Candy asked, smiling.

"Ugm, more salt for these fries?" I asked as I ate one.

"No, silly, you need to go on another adventure so that you can get your mind off of that silliness." She said cheerfully.

"Another adventure?" I sighed, "That's probably the last thing I need..." I groaned, setting my head down on the table.

"It will distract you from what happened earlier, I'll go get the book from Dipper, you two meet me in the back, got it?" Grenda asked.

"Got it!" Candy chirped, pulling my arm and making me follow her to the back door and out so that Mabel and Dipper wouldn't see. At this point, it was very apparent to me that they didn't care whether I was agreeing to this or not.

Candy, curious of how how Grenda would take the book, walked to the side of the Diner and poked her head out, I did the same just to have something to do.

As I did so, I could see Mabel and Dipper arguing at the other end of the Diner.

"Look, I get what you're getting at, but I thought you were over her, she's too old for you anyway and she's told you that!" Mabel shouted.

"We are not going over this again, stop being so impulsive!" Dipper frowned, "Besides, I am over her, it's just that-" he then leaned in and whispered the rest to her, causing her to start squealing.

She nodded to him and he took a step back, Dipper still had his back turned towards Grenda, she was able to get close behind him and gain Mabel's attention.

Grenda pointed towards Dipper's book and gave Mabel a wink, she returned the wink causing Dipper confusion, "Why did you just wink?" He asked.

"Oh, did I wink? I think I have something in my eye!" She gasped, falling backwards.

"Mabel!" Dipper shouted, running to her side and setting his book beside him.

Grenda took this as an opportunity and snatched the book from his side, he noticed of course, shouting, "Hey! Give that back!" Only to have Mabel tackle him back down to the ground while Grenda ran inside and through the back, "Come on, girls!" She shouted.

I groaned as I followed along, meanwhile Candy quickly signalled Mabel from the side of the store while Dipper charged inside.

"Go!" Mabel shouted as she caught up beside Candy, Grenda, and I. She led us through the woods behind the diner and we exited on the other side near the road, "Where to now?" Candy asked, breathing heavily.

"I don't know!" Grenda responded as she looked around.

"Get back here!" Dipper's shouts were heard from within the trees.

"You guys go, I'll distract him!" Grenda shouted, tossing the book to me. She disappeared back into the woods and managed to lead him away, "Alright, you two, follow me!" Mabel said, running ahead while Candy and I followed behind her.

"Where are we going?" Candy asked.

"We're going to the Barrels and Crates, it's going to be the last place Dipper will search for us!" She explained as we approached the giant store. "Are we allowed inside?" I asked, carrying the book.

"I don't know, so let's not get caught!" Mabel was quick to respond.

We ran inside, pushing the doors open and ran up the stairs to the second floor, "I think we should be safe here." Mabel relaxed, laying her back against a stack of crates, "Here, hand me the book, let's see if there's something good we can go find!" Candy smiled, reaching for the book.

I hesitantly handed it over and she set it on the floor, "Why did you girls want the book?" Mabel asked while Candy flipped through the pages.

"Well Grenda and I both agreed that the best way to for ______ to forget about how she told Dipper that she likes him-"

"I told him nothing." I huffed as I pulled my knees towards my chest and laid my chin on my knees.

Mabel only fangirled as Candy continued, "The best way to forget is to go on an exciting monster hunt!"

"Okay, well, why don't we look for a really cute, not deadly, fluffy and nice monster instead of a scary one?" Mabel smiled, to which Candy unenthusiastically replied, "Fine.."

I suddenly felt myself cringe as something cold touched the back of my neck.

"Look at this one, it looks like a necklace!" Candy pointed to one.

"That's because it is a necklace." Mabel replied as she flipped the page again.

"Hey do you guys feel sorta-" I was cut off as I felt something breathe down my neck, "Gah!" I jolted foreword, scratching my neck and looking back only to see... Nothing.

"What did you 'gah' for?" Mabel asked, laughing.

"I just felt something breathe down my neck, but I don't see anything." I admitted, making things easier instead of being that vague (asshole) person that gets everyone (fucking) killed.

"Maybe it's just Grenda." Candy replied.

"Why would Grenda do something creepy like that?" I asked, relaxing myself a little.

They were silent for a moment before finally bursting into laughter, I joined them soon after until we all heard a crash in the distance, causing us all to jump.

"Maybe it's an employee?" Candy asked nervously, "We should still get out if it is."

"Totally-" Mabel replied as she was about to stand up only to find herself unable to move her legs.

"What the what?" She asked, trying to lift her feet to move but finding it impossible.

"What?" Candy asked while I picked the book up.

"I can't move my legs, it feels like there's something holding them down." She replied.

Candy and I looked down, not seeing anything, but understanding that there might be something there.

My eyes widened slightly as I remembered one of the silly magic spells from my book, it could turn you invisible, but like many other spells, if you said it backwards, it would make things visible.

Though unnessisary, I held my hand out to add effect as I chanted the spell from memory, as I went through it, a small, purple, fuzzy ball shaped figure with tiny, stripped arms and legs appeared.

It had one eye with a blue iris and a pink circular nose and a mouth with pointy teeth, I wasn't sure if it had ears but it sure could hear us..

We all screamed upon seeing it, it remained silent, thinking that we couldn't see it.

"Punch it or something." Candy spoke as we all stared at it.

"What? You can't punch me!~" It sang as it creepily danced around, letting go of Mabel's legs.

As it continued dancing towards Candy, she kicked it away, shouting, "Run!"

It flew back as we all made our way out, but something caused me to stop, "H-Hey, the book!" I shouted, realising that I must have dropped it when I wasn't paying attention.

I turned back to where we were, causing Mabel to frown slightly, "No, you're supposed to run away from it, not towards it!" She followed behind me nevertheless as I ran over to where the book was laying on the ground.

The monster thing, however, had grown in size but rather than being angry or vicious, it was crying in the corner of the room.

I knelt down, picking the book up quietly when Mabel appeared behind me, shouting, "Hurry up!"

I tilted my head as I looked over at the monster who sniffled, "You're still here?" It growled in a deeper voice than it's helium voice earlier.

"A-Are you crying?" I asked as it wiped it's tears away and stood up, frowning.

"No!" It shouted loudly, causing the room to shake.

I gulped my fear down and stood up beside Mabel who was tugging at my arm. I looked the monster straight in the eye and asked, "What's wrong?"

It kept it's glare for a moment before collapsing on the floor again, it cried out, "Nothing! Just leave me alone, humans!"

Mabel and I exchanged looks and as we fid, she saw the curiosity in my eyes, she smiled then turned towards the monster with concern, "Oh come on, we aren't leaving until you smile!"

It sniffled a little more before turning into the small creature it was to begin with, "I-It's just that I'm supposed to be a scary monster, but I'm just not!"

"Really? Cause you really scared us." I spoke, holding the book tightly against my chest.

"R-Really?" It cried out some more, "You're just saying that!" It pouted.

"No, really, you were scary." I repeated, laughing slightly at its helium voice. It looked up and bean pacing around, "It's just that I'm supposed to be scary like my older it-thing." It let out a sigh.

"It-thing?" I asked, to which the monster nodded, "I guess that's the equivalent of an older sibling in human.. I'm an Itle, by the way, Itle Idle is the name!" It stuck it's hand out towards me and I hesitated as I shook it.

As I did though, it smiled, "Wow, can I tell you humans something?" I nodded and as it turned towards Mabel to shake her hand, she nodded.

"Okay, well, you are probably the nicest humans I've ever met!" It smiled, bashfully.

"Really?" Mabel exclaimed, jumping up and down, "Well, hey, since you do look pretty cute when you aren't scaring us, why don't you come with us, we can show you other nice humans!" She smiled over at me and I shrugged, "Sure."

Itle Idle grinned widely as it nodded.. Er, sorta, it just looked up then down quickly with it's eye since it didn't exactly have a neck..

"Oh! But I would have to tell my family, they're in a mini soda." It shuffled away.

Mabel and I laughed, "It's pronounced Minnisoda." Mabel spoke.

The monster thing picked up a tiny soda can and looked inside, "No, they're in this mini soda." It explained as he shook it, "Its! I'm leaving, bye!" It shouted before he set the can back down.

It looked up at us, "Now we can go."

As it jumped into Mabel's arms, we could hear Dipper in the distance calling our names, "______! Mabel! Where are you two?" He shouted.

"Let's head down." I said, turning towards Mable, who nodded.

Moments later, we were in the front of the store, where Dipper was searching for us, when he looked over, his eyes widened, "What is that?" He shouted.

"That's Mabel." I laughed as she punched my shoulder jokingly, "Hey!" She joined in.

"No, I'm just kidding, that's an Itle... Itle Idle is its name." I almost managed to say before laughing with Mabel again.

"What's an Itle?" Dipper asked, coming closer to inspect the creature.

"Hah, don't you read?" I asked, handing him the book.

He smiled as he grabbed it, "Thanks!" He looks up at me then and I could see that he blushed, he quickly looked away and I took a step back.

"So it a cool?" Dipper asked, turning towards Mabel.

"Oh I'm cool." The Itle responded as Mabel and I gave it a thumbs up.

Suddenly realising that somehow Dipper knew we were in here, I turned towards him, "Hey, Dip, how did you know we were in here?" I asked, tilting my head to the side.

He smiled as he fixed his vest, "Oh, well that was just a lucky guess!" He said proudly.

"What? No it wasn't! Candy was screaming and told us what happened you liar!" Grenda shouted, sticking her tongue out at him.

Mabel and I burst into laughter, the Itle joining in afterwards, "Hey, why don't we go home now?" Mabel asked as she ran past Dipper and I.

He and I turned towards each other for an ackward a moment before I just have him a smile and followed behind Mabel, "I bet I'll totally beat you to the shack!" I challanged.

He grinned as he spun his hat backwards and nodded, "You're on! On your mark, get se-"

Before he could finish, I ran off shouting, "Go!" With a laugh.

"What? That's cheating you cheater!" Dipper shouted in the distance as he began running after me...
