Y/N POV

I was walking around with my girlfriend and absolute favorite flagship, USS Arizona.

I'm sure everyone, including her, knew that I loved her, as well as everyone else in my prized fleets, but I had special plans to ask her to marry me. While we were walking, I grabbed her hand and she smiled.

Arizona: I love you Admiral.

Y/N: *smiles* I love you too Arizona.

We then kissed and Arizona giggled before pulling me towards a cafe on the base. I smiled and followed her. When we arrived, we sat down at a table and started talking.

Arizona: So what will be doing tomorrow?

Y/N: Well~... First we're going to be doing target practice later in the afternoon and then after that~? *smiles* How about we go out onto the ocean at dusk?

Arizona: I love that idea. I'll make sure to make you proud of my skills.

I smiled happily before holding her hand. A few minutes later, the waitress came over and took our orders and left. We continued talking and joking. When our order came out, we thanked the waitress and we started eating. I then placed a bite of my food on a fork and held it in front of Arizona.

Y/N: Say "Ahh~"

Arizona: *smiles* Ahh~.

I then placed the bite in her mouth and she happily ate it before returning the favor. We both smiled and kissed before returning to eating. Once we were done, I paid the bill and we continued on our date. After that, we went out separate ways, completing tasks that needed to be done. Once it got dark, we went out and got dinner. My heart was beating fast as I was getting closer to my plan.

Y/N: H-Hey Arizona~?

Arizona: *smiles* Hmm~?

Y/N: I wanted to tell you that I've been so happy to have you as my girlfriend and that I've been extremely happy since the day I first had you join my fleets. I want to spend every day and night with you and so that's why I need to you answer a very important question for me *smiles as he pulls out a small box*

Arizona: *gasps* Y-You're not going to...*waits in anticipation*

Y/N: *Gets down on one knee* USS Arizona, will you marry me?

Arizona: *squeals happily with tears in her eyes* Yes! Yes I'll marry you! *hugs Y/N*

I hugged her tightly, trying to not grin like an idiot but I knew I was failing~! I then heard clapping approaching us.

Pennsylvania: I'm happy for you two. Better keep my sister safe.

Y/N: *smiles* You have my promise, Penns. Arizona will be safe in my hands.

Pennsylvania: Well then put the ring on her finger.

I happily obliged and we ate before heading to my room where we made out and then went to bed.

[THE NEXT DAY, DECEMBER 7th]

I woke up, slowly yawning. I then looked around and saw that Arizona was still sleeping peacefully next to me, making me smile. I then woke her up.

Arizona: Mmm~ Morning love.

Y/N: *smiles* Morning beautiful. Ready to start the day?

Arizona: *smiles* Yep. Let's get star-

We then an explosion go off and we immediately ran to the window and I watched as Japanese bomber planes were dropping payloads against our ships.

Y/N: *runs to his intercom* EVERYONE! ALL MEN AND WOMEN MAN YOUR BATTLE STATIONS! SAKURA EMPIRE IS ATTACKING! THIS IS NOT DRILL! I REPEAT THIS IS NOT DRILL!

I then watched as Arizona ran out of the room and I immediately followed after her, dodging bombers, but I was then blown back as a bombed dropped behind me, but Arizona kept running towards her ship. She then engaged the enemy, but it was a losing battle. Still, I got up and ran towards the battlefield so I could help but I was too late and I watched as Arizona was hit multiple times and then a huge explosion went off afterwards and her yelps of agony lingered in my head as I ran to her. The Bombers then quickly retreated once we had some AA Guns able to fire at them. When I got to her, she was gravely injured but I tried to help her.

Arizona: Stop... You know this is a fatal wound. *starts crying* I-It hurts. I-I'm scared Y/N! I-I know it's futile but I don't want to die.. N-Not before I reach the happiest moment of my life.. I don't wanna... P-Please hold me close. I want to at least die in my lovers arms.

I stopped trying to heal her wounds and I couldn't bring myself to shed any tears because of shock as to what happened but I hugged and held her close to my chest. I then looked around and saw many of my ships in the harbor were injured in some sort of way. But a few were badly injured and many of the less injured carried the more seriously injured.

Arizona: Y/N...

Y/N: *looks at her* Y-Yeah?

Arizona: Please don't let me go. I-I'm scared... of d-dying... please don't leave me... alone

Y/N: *hugs her tighter* I won't. I promise...

As her breathing slowed down, my second prized, who were out navigation training, and the rest of my third fleet surrounded me. Eventually, Arizona's grip on my arm tightened and then slowly released itself before falling limp.

Enterprise: Y-Y/N...

I slowly started to try and speak, but my words were choked and I started to finally weep. Everyone was silent as I wept.

Y/N: I'm sorry Arizona... I'm so so Sorry...

Timeskip to the next day

I was walking around the medical bay, checking in on the injured, starting with gravely injured and the ones most unlikely to survive. I got to the first room; Oklahoma. I took a deep breath before knocking on the door.

Oklahoma: C-Come in...

I opened and frowned at the horrible state she was in.

Y/N: Hey Okla...

Oklahoma: *sad smile* Hey Admiral... I heard about Arizona... sorry for your loss...

Y/N: *shakes head* No... I'm sorry this happened.

Oklahoma: Don't blame yourself for what has happened. It's not your fault. Sakura Empire backstabbed us...

Y/N: *nods head* Still... *sighs* I'm sorry. I'll let you rest no-

Oklahoma: *calm* I'm not going to survive these wounds am I?

I stopped and looked at her, shocked at her calmness. I didn't know how to respond and so I just broke down and started sobbing again as I already knew the answer to her question.

Oklahoma: *giggles sadly and pats his head* Hey now. No crying. You've helped me through the toughest times in my life. *smiles* The only thing I ask is that you keep me in your memories forever.

Y/N: *gently hugs her* I promise...

Oklahoma: Admiral... *the heart monitor starts slowing down* I'm so happy I got to serve under you. You... made me laugh and smile in even the bleakest moments in life. Now I want you to be strong and do what you did for me. Keep... going... *the heart monitor is almost flat line* I... Love you.

I hugged Oklahoma and she hugged back before her hand slowly let go of me and fell. Never before had I felt helpless.

Y/N: *holding her hand* You were like a little sister to me, Okla... I promise I'll avenge you all... I'll burn the Sakura Empire down the ground...

I then watched as the medics tried in vain to save her but she had already passed. After That, I headed for West Virginia's room, but I saw her in a wheelchair when I walked inside.

West Virginia: Hey Admiral...

Y/N: Hi West...

West Virginia: Did Arizona...

Y/N: *shakes head with tears in his eyes* No... she didn't...

West Virginia: *hangs her head* I see... I'm sorry for your loss...

Y/N: What about you? Are you... no, I shouldn't ask...

West Virginia: Am I going to succumb to my wounds?

Y/N: *hesitantly nods* Y-Yeah...

West Virginia: *long silence* Honestly, I won't be surprised if I die... But if I do, I want to let you know that I admire you and I hope you make them pay for what they've done to us... For what they've done to Harbor...

Y/N: *gets down on one knee and holds one of her hands* Just for you and the others who have lost their lives here at the harbor... I'll say "For Harbor" when I take out the ones responsible...

West Virginia: Thank you...

Y/N: *gets up* You should gets some rest.

West Virginia: Alright... Stay safe Admiral...

Y/N: I'll try...

I then left and headed for California's room. I then walked in and I saw California was in worse shape than Oklahoma as she was missing an arm.

Y/N: Cali...

California: *weak smile* Hey Addy... *chuckles while crying* They say I don't have much time left...

Y/N: I... See...

California: Don't be sad, Addy. We had a lot of fun as kids. Think about the good times and please don't blame yourself for this.

Y/N: *walks over to her* How can I not blame myself?

California: Easy. You didn't tell Sakura Empire to attack us.

Y/N: Still.,.

California: *caresses his face with her one arm* Don't be sorry. Be smart and make sure you're ready before you seek out revenge, okay?

I nodded my head and hugged her.

California: Y/N?

Y/N: Yes Cali?

California: I know I'm probably going to die later tonight so I have two requests.

Y/N: What are they? It's the least I can do.

California: Well... I've always had a crush on you and I was a little sad when you got together with Arizona, so I understand if you say no, but can I have a kiss on the lips as a final farewell? I-I know that I'm probably selfish for asking that but...

Y/N: It's alright...

California: Thank you...

Although I didn't put any effort into it, I allowed California to kiss me on the lips and once our lips separated, California smiled sadly.

California: Now for my last request... please unplug the life support. I don't
want this pain to continue any longer.

A staff member walked in and heard her and frowned sadly before looking at me.

Nurse: It's your choice sir...

Y/N: Alright, Cali.

California: Thank you...

Y/N: *pulls the plug* You're welcome...

California: I love you... Addy.

Y/N: I love you too...I hope to see you again in another life...

California rested her head against her pillow and saluted me before closing her eyes and resting, taking her final moments. I then walked into the next room... Nevada's room.

Nevada: Hey... Admiral...

Y/N: *doesn't look her in the eyes and ashamed* Hey Nevada...

Nevada: *notices* Oklahoma... is she... dead?

Y/N: *shaking breath* Yes... I'm sorry...

Nevada: *tears up but smiles softly at Y/N* It's alright sir... I'll see her soon. I know I'm going to pass soon. Just make sure to get revenge...

Y/N: For Harbor...

Nevada: *smiles* For Harbor. Stay safe Admiral.

Nevada didn't say anything more and I got and left for the one room I didn't want to go to... Pennsylvania's room. I took a deep breath before hesitantly knocked on the door.

Pennsylvania: Come in...

I opened the door and saw her in her hospital bed, looking out at the Harbor. She made a glance at me before putting her focus back on the harbor.

Pennsylvania: Admiral...

Y/N: I'm sorry Pen-

Pennsylvania: Don't. I know you probably think I'm angry that you failed your promise to keep her safe, which I am, but I'm not mad at you... on the other side of the Pacific Ocean... Sakura Empire... They broke a promise more dear to me than the one you made me. They attacked us... we did nothing to do deserve this... my sister did nothing to deserve to die... *looks at Y/N with dull eyes* I'm stuck here and I would've been dead had a civilian not operated that crane... All I want from you right now is to stay here for a at least an hour and for you to make a new promise to me.

Y/N: Alright. *sits down and holds One of her hands* Whatever you want from me, I'll make sure it happens...

Pennsylvania: Good. What I want from you is for you to promise me that you'll crush the Sakura Empire for what they've done to my sister... To Pearl Harbor...

Y/N: For Harbor... For Arizona... *cold* I'll burn their land and home to ashes.

Pennsylvania: Thank you...

I then stayed by her side for more than an hour.

Timeskip

Y/N: Maybe I'll see you all again in another life. Rest In Peace...

I then placed a flower at every grave of those who perished.

I then left to make a speech in D.C.

Y/N: Mr. President, Mr. Vice President, Mr. Speaker, Members of the Senate, and of the House of Representatives:

Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 -- a date which will live in infamy -- the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Sakura Empire.

After a long speech, I closed the speech while looking at my last prized fleet and what remained of my first and second.

Y/N: Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger. With confidence in our armed forces, with the unbounding determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph -- so help us God! I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Sakura Empire on Sunday, December 7th, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Sakura Empire.

Once I finished, I walked off to sound of applause and cheering of "REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR" but I didn't feel the same enthusiasm. They're politicians. They don't have to see what happens first hand... but when I get my hands on Sakura Empire's admiral, they'll be more grateful than ever to be on the frontlines...
