The personal rivalry between Alex Auditore and Buddy Murphy had been going on for months. Their history goes all the way back to NXT when Murphy's relationship with Alexa Bliss was trembling and later fell apart. Things escalated when Murphy was caught cheating, and Alexa broke up with him. When Murphy attempted to hit Alexa physically, the Pinoy Prince came to the rescue of Little Miss Bliss. After winning a match to become Auditore's next challenger for his Universal Championship, Murphy got too personal by saying when he wins, he's taking Alexa back. At SummerSlam however, Alex thwarted Murphy's plan and kept his relationship with Alexa strong. As SummerSlam ended, Murphy brought some backup in the form of his old tag team partner Wesley Blake and his 205 live cohorts Drew Gulak and The Brian Kendrick. With his best friends Seth and Finn away on leave, Alex Auditore will soon call for backup in the form of some familiar friends from across the Pacific Ocean.
