Only The Beginings

Izuku woke up to pure darkness. That was the first strange thing to happen that day.

The next was him realizing that he had shrunken down to only five inches high, and that he was trapped under his blankets.

"What...? Why am I so small? Maybe it's my True Form..." Izuku mumbled to himself, after he had managed to climb out from the blankets that he was trapped in. His room seemed all to big for him now, all the furniture towering over him.

While the clothes he was wearing before had shrunk down with him, the rest of his clothes did not. That could prove to be a problem, especially if this was a pernament thing.

Izuku crawled over to the edge of the bed, but quickly moved back to the center when he saw how far down the floor was. "How am I supposed to get down from here?!" He yelped, looking around frantically. He definitley didn't want to drop down that far.

Of course, the bed wasn't all that high up, but Izuku was now only five inches tall, so it seemed like a long drop to him.

"Maybe I can go down the leg..?" Izuku said, standing up on the mattress. He climbed over the mountain of blankets, and found himself in front of the wooden pole. It was square, so he could use the edges as grips.

He nodded to himself, and wrapped his arms and legs around the pole, scampering down it inch by inch. When he got to the bottom, he glanced around the room, and made a beeline to the door. He figured that it would be best to tell his mom what had happened.

Izuku slid through the crack under the door, seeing that he was too small to reach the doorknob.

He walked out to the living room, and managed to smell his mom cooking breakfast in the kitchen. Izuku gulped, it looked like a long way over to the kitchen. Of course, that was because of his now increadibly small size.

Eventually, he made his way to the kitchen, not taking nearly as long as he expected.

He tugged on Inko's pant, gaining her attention, "Uhm, Mom..?"

"Izuku? What happened to you?" Inko asked, worry and panic taking over her expression. "I don't know, I just woke up like this.." Izuku said, looking up at her desperately.

"Well.. your ears are pointed now, and you did turn 15 recently.. Sweetie, I think you might be an elf.."

Inko took Izuku out to the market, since he was far too small to use any of his old possesions. They would donate all of his old clothes and furniture, since it could still be used, and Izuku could get new things that would actually work for him. He didn't plan on buying any furniture just yet, since he was going to try and become a mage once he left home. Which ment traveling, alot.

Izuku had been to the market plenty of times before, but this time, it was different. For one thing, Inko carried Izuku to the market, to avoid him getting squashed.

For another, he went to the elves and fairies section of the market this time. Before, he was unable too, as normal people couldn't fit, but now that he was so small, he could actually go inside. It was a beautiful sight.

Stands made from twigs and branches, bark walls coating the outsides. Tall flowers grew near some of the stands, some reaching much higher than any of the elves could touch. Dandilion seeds flew through the air, a graceful dance swirling in the wind. Each idividual blade of grass could be made out by the miniature people, beautiful shades of green painting them. Mushrooms grew all over, adding splashes of reds and browns, and even some yellows. Butterflies fluttered about, some of them larger than the fairies and elves there. Some fairies were flying in air, playing around, some even seemed to be dancing.

Izuku would have never dreamed of something so amazing.

He picked out some clothes, most fit for adventuring, as well as a few notebooks, pencils, glass bottles, and a yellow backpack similar to his old one. After a moment of thought, he bought some red combat boots, to replace the red shoes that would no longer fit him.

He allowed himself to be distracted by a stand selling hand carved staffs and wands, but shook his head. He'd need to figure out what his magic was before he could get any magical equipment.

Speaking of, there was a magic testing stand nearby.

Izuku walked closer to the stand, glancing around. There weren't many people near the stand. Most elves and fairies didn't bother with magic, as they thought becoming a mage was the only good reason to use magic, and they couldn't be mages because they were so small.

Izuku wanted to try to be a mage though, even if he was an elf. There was no rule that elves couldn't be mages, after all.

He approached the stand, both nervous but also excited. "U-uh, hi, uhm.... c-can I please t-test to see what kind of m-magic I have..?" he studdered out, already digging his hands into his pockets to search for his coins. The person in charge of the stand nodded, "that would cost two gold coins."

Izuku fished the coins out, and placed them on the counter. The salesperson then said, "just put your hand in the center of that circle, inside of the hand outline."

"O-okay" Izuku responded, placing his hand in the circle. The circle began to glow a light blue, and some sort of rune Izuku couldn't read appeared. The salesperson could clearly read it, though, and said, "well, it looks like you have agility magic. Not that uncommon, but better than some of the magics I've seen"

Izuku nodded, grining, "alright, thank you".

After that, he went to go find his mom. After all, he wouldn't need any equipment for agility magic.

"Izuku, promise you'll be safe out there, okay?" Inko said, as her now elven son stopped at the door.

"I'll try," Izuku replied, "try not to worry about me too much, Mom. I'll write to you whenever I can"

Inko chuckled, "I can't help it if I worry about you, you know that.. have fun out there, okay?"

Izuku grinned, nodding, "yeah, I will. Bye Mom, I'll miss you"

"Goodbye, sweetie."

And just like that, Izuku was out on his own.

A/N

Taiyo-chan, here to explain a few quick things!!

1. Mages! They are like explorers, and usually travel in groups, known as parties. Different parties have different goals, ideas, rules, ect. Every important character in this will be a mage. This includes villains.

2. Money! Rather than using currency systems like what we have, people here use gold coins. Each coin is an ounce of gold. Trading is also used, but mainly gold coins.

3. Magic! Certain types of people have special abilities, Ex: fairies and dragons can fly. Everyone also has magic, which is this world's version of a quirk.

4. Setting! This is going to be a medival sort of time set, with some differences. Mainly, feudalism won't be here. Kings, queens, and knights will, but feudalism isn't a thing in this universe. Anyone can buy land with enough gold, no vassals needed. Also, some modern technology will be present, such as pencils (they used to use quils). Electronics won't exist yet, though.

That's all, any questions can go in the comments if needed.
