Sidestory: The Crimson Dragon and the Black Fairy
Chaldea
Ritsuka Fujimaru was walking down the hallway of Chaldea, it had been two weeks since the British Lostbelt.
Besides him were Morgan and Artoria.
For the last master of humanity, it felt strange.
Artoria seemed very quiet regarding the presence of the Berserker Servant and vice versa.
Morgan was probably trying to ignore Artoria's presence, while the latter seemed to have a hard time approaching her.
As they made their way to the cafeteria they spotted Maeve.
But that wasn't Maeve that he'd met in the Fuyuki Singularity.
That Maeve was the one that had been under Morgan's reluctant service, in exchange to grant what little was left of her people refuge.
She wore a white shirt and jacket with black pants and boots.
In her hands she seemed to be holding, and around her were the child Servants, and the odd Adult Servant, he spotted Igraine and Margo among them, both with dessert in hand.
"How curious." Morgan simply commented.
"Do you... want to join and listen in? Our counterparts are there." Artoria invited Morgan, who seemed oddly surprised, as she'd imagine Artoria to spurn her.
"Very well." Morgan simply replied.
"Oi, Morgan, Arti over here we saved you some seats." Margo called as she spotted them.
"Let's just go." Morgan said as she and her PHH counterpart's sister sat along with Igraine and Margo.
"Alright now that everyone's here... This is a sort of a sequel to an old Fairy tale." Maeve said and seeing the attentive looks of the kids.
"When the leviathans of the depths rose from their slumber, all of the land was in panic. In Iberia, the Inquisition fought tooth and nail to stave off their incursion. In the eastern realms, the gods fought, either for themselves or their subjects with their emperor leading the charge. In Siracusa, the Wolves fought like it was their last day of life. in Ursus, the Armies of its emperor fought with might and zeal, and their champions brought low scores of the Leviathan's minions, in the desert realms of the Padishas they fought with all their might.
And in the fair land of Victoria still recovering from the wounds of Civil Strife the Lions and the Dragons set aside their animosity and fought. And with the knights with mighty armours powered by steam, the Just Dragon and the Greedy Dragon fought alongside the Lions.
The Dragons turned the spawns of the oceans into Ash, and the Lions led their armies against them.
Even then, their stand was for nought, and all that remained of Fair Victoria was but a meagre city, and the Greedy Dragon.
The Greedy Dragon roared and raged, it fought with all its might and its flames grew so hot that the ground turned into hot coal.
But... even then the march of the Seaborn didn't stop, the Greedy Dragon took to fighting the Leviathans hoping that by killing them, it'd stave off the unending march.
And even that was for nought, for the Leviathans were as old as they were mighty and the Dragon was no match.
Though something had changed in the Greedy Dragon's heart, its desire for all the world to be his was washed away, perhaps the Greedy Dragon grew a sense of honour, who knows what ran in the creature's mind.
Then the dragon, and what little was left of its people, saw a fairy clad in black and cold blue, her heart bleeding from betrayal and derision from those she sought to help.
The Dragon recognised the Fairy's desire for a kingdom, and he approached her and said.
"O' Fair Lady, I see that your heart is hurt with betrayal and derision. I can offer you my might in your quest for a Kingdome, I will be the flame that will cleanse it of the sinners and will be the whip that brings down the traitor. In exchange, all I want is but a piece of land from which what is left of my people can prosper once more, and make that land the fairest and the most just in the land, a land in which flowers bloom in perpetuity and untouched by the murderous hands of liars and two-faced beasts."
The fairy was taken aback since the Dragons had long since left the world and the last one was but a rotting corpse.
She accepted his offer and said.
"I will accept your offer but know that my heart is wounded and full of mistrust, and I can only trust you if you are willing to bind your existence to mine." The Fairy told Dragon, who saw little choice accepted.
The Dragon gave up its will, and the Black Fairy kept her bargain, as his people were granted the land he asked for, The Dragon, in turn, followed the Black Fairy in her quest and many of the fairy clans bent the Knee.
From there Dragon Lorded for thousands of years, seeing his people prosper, and the land grew fairer and bountiful.
But as time passed the Dragon began locking himself away in his keep, the red fairy came to visit simply to deride the dragon as little more than an animal with brains at best and a slave at worse, and those were visits that often became bloody.
The Black dog visited, and could only pity the dragon as it lay bleeding and sleeping.
The white dragon followed and left as swiftly as it came, for it felt fear in its heart that they'd come to blow and neither would survive.
And with that, Maeve ended the tale as she closed the book.
"That's enough for today, off to your beds." Maeve told the children as they groaned because they wanted to hear the tale's end.
As Maeve left to escort the children, the tale Morgan didn't know what to think, what she said was basically how they met.
But was taken aback by the way she had said it, as she made it sound like Maeve had willingly given her services when in truth she blackmailed her.
"That... was an interesting tale." Artoria commented.
"Aye, that it was." Igraine agreed in turn.
