Chapter 2: A chance encounter

Londinium Walls
Charles Lynch PoV

"It's been, what? 2 days now that Igraine left Victoria?" Was the thought of Charles as he looked over the land from the height of the walls, the city's defensive artillery looking aimed over the distance.

"God. It's been two days, and I miss her." Charles muttered as he let out a sigh.

There were a lot of things that Charles found attractive about Igraine, from the way she bares herself, and how she cares about the people of Victoria and the less fortunate,
especially those in the slum district, and her strength was fit for some of the best soldiers of Victoria.

And if Charles would describe in a single sentence he'd say that Igraine was a woman with a heart of gold twice her size.

"Have I fallen for her so much that she occupies every crevice of my mind?" Charles muttered as he let out an amused sigh.

Gawain was walking through the ramparts of the wall with Alexandrina on his back, on their way to hand over Igraine's Handkerchief to her Lover, Charles Lynch.

It had taken a couple of hours to find the man but as soon as Gawain had picked up on the man's scent he and Alexandrina were swiftly on it

"Sir. Lynch." Gawain called the man, who was looking in the distance, seemingly thinking about something while his ears fluttered with the wind.

Right now he was wearing a deep dark brown coat with bronze-coloured laurel lining, dark trousers and boots.

"Wha..." Charles was about to say but quickly stopped when he saw Gawain with Alexandrina on top of him.

"Your Majesty!" Charles responded as he knelt before her.

"On your Feet young knight, there's no need to kneel right now, we are simply here to give you something at the behest of Lady Igraine." Gawain said, while Alexandrine got off of him and pulled out a handkerchief.

"Auntie said she loved you and wanted you to have this." Alexandrina told him as she handed him the blue handkerchief that was embroidered with Victoria's coat of arms, gold edges that were in the pattern of flowers, and a stylized I on the lower right corner.

Charles felt surprised by this gesture, as he'd read enough knight novels to know what this gesture meant.

"I... don't know what to say... Thank you, your majesty, I promise I will safeguard this gift to my last breath or until your aunt and I are reunited." Charles said with a smile.

"You better, 'else I kick you out when I become king." Alexandrina told Charles, who simply smiled.

"And I am sure that Lady Igraine is more than pleased to have a brave niece like you." Charles responded with a chuckle.

"When will you join your co-workers?" Gawain asked Charles.

"I will be leaving Londinium as soon as I am accepted among the steam knights today." Charles told Gawain.

"In that case, I bid you the best of luck, Sir. Lynch. Please come, your majesty, I'm sure your father is wondering where you are." Gawain said and called to Alexandrina as he turned away.

"Okay." Alexandrina said as she mounted Gawain as if he were her steed.

And this made Charles smile a bit as he saw the two walk away.

"I promise we will reunite one day." Charles muttered as he looked at the Handkerchief, and put it like a bracelet around his wrist.

Meanwhile

King Richard's office

"Come in." Richard said as he heard the door knocking, and a servant that had been assigned to Igraine walked in.

"My King, I came to inform you that Lady Igraine, has left the palace as we are unable to find her anywhere." The Feline servant told Richard.

"Stop all searches for my sister." Richard simply told the Servant.

"My king?" The Servant asked slightly surprised at this, as the King rarely if ever left his sister away from his sights, going as so far to order two Tower Knights to be her bodyguards during any of her public appearances or in the palace's setting.

"You heard well enough Joshua, My sister told me of her intentions to leave Victoria to travel Terra, or at least some of the countries, on her own, and requested that I let her go on her own. Now if there's anything be on your way." Richard told the Servant as he dismissed the man.

"As you order my king." The servant replied with a bow and walked away.

1 week Later

Lungmen

Wei was sitting in his office, checking his watch.

He figured first to get some paperwork done before the funerary procession started and also get his head cleared a bit.

In the moment of his lonesome state, Wei began to think if this would ever be the second of his fuck-up.

In his desire to protect his sister, she went to take her own life, it didn't help that the man that he married her to was nowhere to be found, and he suspected him, of having been assassinated, which also made him that maybe Kashchey was behind it.

As they couldn't even find a body after a week of searching.

" Hm, I wouldn't be surprised if the black snake colluded with someone to have Edward killed and maybe go after his kids. " Yenwu thought to himself as he let out a sigh, feeling like he messed up.

Then his phone began to ring.

"Yes?" Yenwu asked as he opened the call.

" Lord Wei I want to inform you that a person of interest has arrived in Lungmen. " A border officer informed Yenwu, who raised his eyebrow.

"Who?" Yenwu asked his curiosity slightly piqued.

" We believe that it is the sister of King Richard of Victoria, Igraine. " The Border officer told Wei.

"You sure?" Wei asked the man, wondering why the King's sister was here in Lungmen.

" I am sir, the similarity is very uncanny, and the only Feline Aslan I am familiar with are the king, his sister and the man's daughter. " The border officer told Wei.

"Alright, keep at it." Wei said as he closed the call, and pressed a number.

" How may we be of service Lord Yenwu ?" A man asked Yenwu in a respectful manner.

"There's a woman that is suspected to be the sister of King Richard, I want you and 3 of your squad to find her, and if her appearance check's out, bring her to my office." Yenwu told the Shadowguard.

" As you order Lord Yenwu ." The man closed the phone, as Wei's mind raced to think of any reason why the Princess had come here.

"Or maybe I am simply overthinking it." Yenwu muttered as he got up and walked out of his office to go to the place where his sister's funeral was being held.

Wei Family Estate

In her room Talulah was sitting on her bed hugging her legs, still feeling sore about Maeve not telling her about their mother's death.

"Talulah?" Came the knocking of the door and Aunt Fumizuki's voice.

"What is it?" Talulah asked, her voice sullen.

"Can I come in?" Fumizuki asked as she opened the door, and Talulah responded with a simple nod.

"I can imagine that you still haven't gotten over, Maeve hiding your mother's death from you." Fumizuki stated in a soft tone trying to comfort her niece as she walked up to her and sat across for her.

Fumizuki was a Lung woman with a pinkish-red single horn protruding from her forehead, as much like Wei she is an anthropomorphic Lung, she had red eyes, and her fur was a mix between white and purple with her tail ending with a purple tuft, and her hair also reflected her fur's colouration as it had white streaks among purple hair.

And she wore a dark purple kimono, with gold, white, and black depiction of what seemed like pelicans, as well as a jacket that she wore over her shoulders like a cape.

"Why didn't she tell me and Ch'en?" Talulah asked.

"Well... I can only think that Maeve didn't tell you two because she didn't want to see you and Ch'en hurt, you know how much Maeve care's about you two." Fumizuki told Talulah, who let Fumizuki hug her.

"You have to understand Maeve only had the best intentions in mind and in no way or form she would do anything to hurt you or Ch'en." Fumizuki softly told Talulah.

"Come... your sisters are all dressed up, the final goodbyes are in an hour." Fumizuki carefully said not to get Talulah in a worse mood than she had been this past week.

"Okay." Talulah said weekly and got up to get dressed, while Fumizuki walked out of the room.

" Even if a week has passed things seem fragile. I will have to work to mend it all. " Fumizuki thought to herself as she went to change into more appropriate attire.

Igraine POV

After she had finished with the border security She took a taxi cab.

"Where to ma'am?" The Lupo man asked her.

"Take me to the nearest hotel." Igraine told The driver in yanese.

"Of course ma'am." The taxi driver said drove her to a hotel that was 20 minutes away.

Unbeknownst to her the Shadowguard that Yenwu had ordered to follow Igraine had already found her, and was following her.

20 minutes Later

"That'd be 10 L.M.D ma'am." The driver said.

"Do you accept debit cards? As I only have Victorian Pound on me." Igraine told the driver.

"Sure." The driver said as he pulled out a card reader, and handed it to Igraine who inserted her card and after a short moment inserted the payment value, and finished the transaction.

"See you around ma'am." The Driver said as Igraine walked out of the cab.

"Se you around also." Igraine responded in kind.

"Madam Igraine." She heard a man calling out, making Igraine turn around to see two men dressed in some sort of a black raincoat that obscured their faces, and around her, the pedestrians were looking with something of interest.

"Who are you?" Igraine asked the mysterious men.

"The Chief Executive Wei Yenuw received news of your arrival your majesty and wished to meet with you face to face." The Raincoat answered.

"What purpose?" Igraine answered with irritation in her tone, as she didn't want to involve herself in politics.

"That we don't know, but as we said, all we know is that Lord Yenwu wants to speak with you face to face." The 2nd Raincoat answered Igraine's question.

And seeing the reaction of the people that were within earshot, was something, as they wondered what the Chief Executive wants to speak with the woman.

"And if I don't?" Igraine asked them, getting ready for a brawl.

"We insist that you come with us peacefully." The Raincoat insisted.

"Alright, but it better be worth my time." Igraine relented as she followed after the raincoats, not wanting things to blow into a street brawl and cause a scene.

"That's splendid to hear." The Raincoat said in what seemed like a relieved tone.

"Let's just go and see what the Chief Executive wants." Igraine retorted.

And soon enough a black car arrived and one of the Raincoats opened the rear door for her.

" They sure work fast. " Igraine thought to herself as she walked into the car, and soon enough they drove to the Chief Executive's office.

Elsewhere

Maeve PoV

Maeve was sitting on the couch she wore a black dress over a grey shirt and black shoes, Ch'en was dressed in a similar manner.

And both sisters were silent, neither being unable to say a single word.

"Maeve, Ch'en everything is ready, I talked with your Uncle and he will be meeting with us at the place where the funeral is being held." Fumizuki said as she walked down the stairs, now dressed in a black Kimono, and Talulah was right behind her.

"Yes, aunt." Ch'en quietly replied as she got up with Maeve, and walked to the car waiting outside.

As they walked out, Maeve turned a glance at Talulah, and a sense of nervous guilt came over her, as for the past week the sisters seemed to avoid each other.

Maeve hoped that Aunt Fumizuki would help her fix her relationship with her sister.

Wei Yenwu PoV

As Yenwu arrived at the Funeral Parlour his phone rang and saw that it was from one of the Shadow Guards.

"Yes?" Yenwu answered.

" Lord Wei, we have brought Her Majesty to your office. " The Shadow Guard told Yenwu.

"Keep her comfortable and make her feel at home, I am at my sister's funeral." Yenwu told the man as he closed the phone.

Igraine's PoV

"Well, your majesty I have to inform you that Lord Wei will take some time to arrive, he has to attend to some personal business. In the meantime please make yourself comfortable, I will send someone to fetch you something to eat after a long journey." The Raincoat told Igraine, who simply nodded after letting out an irritated sigh.

"Very well, but if he doesn't show up sooner I will go and see to him myself." Igraine told the Raincoat.

"As you wish Madam Igraine" The Raincoat said.

And besides his current objective was to ensure that Igraine met with Wei Yenwu.

"Thank you." Igraine said, and the raincoat replied with a curt nod and walked away.

"Now, to wait." Igraine muttered as she sat on an armchair and put her legs on the coffee table in front of her, and waited for the Chief Executive of Lungmen to arrive.

" I hope it isn't something that involves politics ." Igraine thought to herself, as that was mainly one of the reasons why she walked away from Victoria.

"Just what do you want to talk with me Wei Yenwu?" Igraine muttered to herself, then she got up and looked around the room and walked over to Yenwu's desk, and checked his drawers and attention grabbed by a notebook which she decided to check, and saw the address of where Yenwu was right now.

"How about we meet in person immediately?" Igraine muttered to herself.

At the Lungmen Funerary Parlour

The room was very quiet, little was said, and the only people that were in the parlour were Wei Yenwu, Fumizuki, Maeve, Ch'en and Talulah.

No eulogy was given, just silent goodbyes.

Though... things were quite eerily so, which made the man look at his nieces, Ch'en seemed to be on the verge of tears, Talulah just like Ch'en was about to cry but held herself strong, but Maeve?

Maeve seemed frozen there like a statue, seemingly uncaring that they'd bury her mother later, but Yenwu also felt by just looking at her that maybe just maybe... Maeve wasn't a stranger to people dying around her.

" No that's just preposterous. This is the first time the girls have seen a dead person. " Wei thought to himself that the idea of Maeve being used to death was preposterous, she is just a child.

Then all of a sudden his phone rang, breaking the atmosphere.

" Damnit ." Yenwu thought to himself as he brought out his phone and walked outside of the room.

"What is it?" Yenwu asked the caller, anger and displeasure evident in his tone.

" I wish to apologise Chief Executive, but Her Majesty has left the building ." The Shadow Guard informed Yewnu.

"Listen, keep track of her, and make sure that no harm comes to her." Yenwu told the Shadow Guard.

" Understood Chief-Executive, some of our men are keeping track of her as we speak ." The Shadow Guard told Yenwu.

"Good." Yenwu responded and quickly closed the phone and walked back in.

30 minutes later

As they five walked out Maeve stopped for a moment when she saw Igraine walking through the courtyard.

" Father ?" Maeve thought to herself seeing the spitting image of Arthur making her way to them, but as a woman, though the aura was still the same.

The woman in front of her seemed like the model of an aristocratic woman, tall and slender figure, a face with high cheekbones, and nearly flawless skin.

But to Maeve, she wasn't seeing anyone she was seeing the ghost of King Arthur hanging over the woman's shoulder and wondered glaring daggers at her.

Had she come here to kill her and get revenge for her rebellion?

Her breath became heavy and laboured she backtracked as if wanted to run away, and she began to feel dizzy and soon enough she almost fell to the ground.

"Maeve!" Her uncle called out as he caught her in his arms.

"Fumizuki, take Maeve to the doctor, I will deal with the lady personally." Wei said as he handed Maeve to Fumizuki and met face-to-face with Igraine.

"Princess Igraine, I hope you have any good reasons to come here and cause one of my Niece to have a panic attack and wait for me to come." Yenwu told Igraine, who stood firm.

"I do apologise for that Chief Executive, but I came here to see you personally. Now what was it that you wanted to speak with me?" Igraine asked Wei

"Come with me to my Office we will talk things from there." Wei replied, his anger restrained.

"Very well." Igraine responded and followed after the irritated Lung.

Maeve PoV

She stood surrounded by darkness, and then corpses of fallen soldiers and knights appeared around her as she found on that all too familiar hill.

" What? What am I doing back here? " Maeve thought to herself as panic rose.

She shouldn't be here back in Camlann, how was she back here?

"Traitor." She began to hear.

"You destroyed our dream." The voices.

"You trampled on our sacrifices." The voices grew louder as the corpses around her rose on their feet with weapons in their hands.

"Mordred." She heard her father's voice calling her by her old name, and Maeve turned around to see Arthur looming over her like a shadow with his sword in hand.

Maeve didn't move an inch as fear gripped, her breath started to increase in pace.

" Please... " Was the thought that crossed on Maeve's mind as she tried to beg for mercy, but no voice left her throat, she ran away as fast as she could, 'till she fell down an edge.

When Maeve got up she saw the towering figure of Arthur looming over her sword in hand

"For inciting Rebellion and treason, Mordred you are sentenced to death." The Shadowy figure of Arthur stated as he raised his sword and brought down her.

"No!" Mordred shouted and suddenly she sprung up from a bed inside a room she knew that it wasn't hers, judging from its sterile white walls.

"Where...!" Maeve muttered as she looked around, and Aunt Fumizuki along with Ch'en and Talulah walked through the door.

"Maeve is everything alright?" Fumizuki asked her niece.

"Where... where is that woman?" Maeve asked her.

"The woman that came earlier is with your uncle, he told us to get you to the hospital as you were having a panic attack." Fumizuki told her, as she saw her Niece taking deep breaths and almost on the verge of tears.

"Please keep her away from me." Maeve requested, fear clearly evident in her voice.

Soon enough both Talulah and Ch'en got on the bed and looked at their sister in the eye.

"Don't worry Sis, she won't hurt you while we are here." Talulah told Maeve, the grudge of the past week seemingly gone, as she tried to comfort Maeve.

"Yea! She'd have to cross us if she wants to hurt you." Ch'en joined in

And Maeve didn't know how to respond to that.

So she did the only thing she knew and embraced her sisters in her embrace and started bawling.

In this moment Mordred felt incredibly lucky that she had a pair of sisters like Ch'en and Talulah.

They loved her.

They didn't reject her like her father, they didn't manipulate her to get what they wanted like Morgan.

And Aunt Fumizuki was there for them.

As for Yenwu she had mixed opinions on her uncle, as he reminded her all to much of the lords and their politics.

But he also seemed to have their best interest in mind.

" I will withhold that opinion down in the future. " Maeve thought to herself, just wanting the feeling of fear and angst to leave her, as she tightened her hug on her sisters.

All the while Fumizuki looked at the trio with a smile.

" Those three are really close. " Fumizuki thought to herself as the display of affection the sisters had for each other.

Meanwhile
50 minutes later.

Wei's office

The atmosphere between Igraine and Yenwu was so tense that someone could cut it with a knife.

Yenwu for his part, wondered if Igraine was here to kill Edward's daughters personally, Seeing Maeve's reaction.

But... Maeve seemed to know Igraine just by looking at her and looked like she had seen a ghost that is ready to take revenge on her any moment.

"I beg your apologies for what happened earlier Chief Executive, as it wasn't my intention to cause your niece a panic. But I grew tired of waiting and decided to meet you face to face myself." Igraine told Yenwu who merely let out a huff.

"Then you should have waited a while longer Your Majesty. Now, I want to ask, Why did you call me to meet face-to-face with you?" Yewnu stated and proceeded to ask Igraine, wanting to know if the woman had any intentions to harming any of his nieces.

"Honestly Chief Executive, I came here mostly to travel, as I have no intention of involving myself in Victoria's politics anymore." Igraine told Yenwu.

"And where do you intend to travel from here?" Yewnu asked.

"Well, I was thinking of going to Higashi later, and from there visit Laterano for a couple of days, and finally settle down in Kazimirez." Igraine told Yenwu.

"So you have no aultirior motives?" Yenwu asked Igraine, who realised why Yenwu seemed to react in such a way.

"Chief Executive, if this is about me doing any sort of harm to the children of Edward Artorius, I have no intention of involving myself in the royal feud, and as I said earlier I merely came to Lungmen for a short two days stop." Igraine told Yenwu.

"Very well then your majesty, I may not trust you, but I will have to take you at your word, you may be on your way." Yenwu replied with a simple huff, and Igraine rose to her feet and walked away.

"Your order, Lord Wei?" The Shadowguard asked as he appeared from the shadows.

"I want you to keep an eye on the Princess during her stay in the city." Yenwu told him

"As you command my lord." The Shadowguard responds and disappeared just like he had appeared.

" Now to bury Hanyue next to Edward. " Yenwu thought to himself

Victoria
A Hostel in Colchester

"Why are we going to Kazimirez again, Margo?" Frederico asked Margo as the former woke up and got up from her bed.

Frederico much like Margo was a Sankta, with White hair, black wings and a halo, the latter of which had some sort of device around it.

He wore a pair of dark blue trousers and black boots, a white orange jacket, and a shotgun at his side, with its originium ammo.

"Well My dear Federico, firstly this is mostly being done for humanitarian reasons, we are to oversee refugee camps as you know. Ursus can't stay a moment of peace without starting up a war." Margo told Frederico, who seemed less than amused about this assignment.

"As you say Margo, but remember that we are not to interfere with the war between Kazimirez and Ursus under any circumstance." Frederico told Margo who got to the bathroom.

"Yeah, yeah, and if I do I might end up exiled, but tell me, my dear Frederico, when have I ever cared what people thought?" Margo asked Frederico, who looked at her bluntly.

"Your parents say otherwise." Federico commented and Margo looked like she bit a bitter lemon.

"Touche." Margo retorted knowing that she care much about her parent's opinion.

"Just... let's not get in a fight between the two." Federico told Margo with a stern tone.

"Sure, whatever you say Federico." Margo responded in a quiet tone while Frederico pulled out a map from the drawer.

"Say... before we leave how about we go out and take something on the go?" Margo Asked Frederico.

"Very well." Federico answered in an uncaring tone his eyes on the map.

Meanwhile, Margo wondered if anyone she's related to has had an experience similar to hers.

Would it be possible that her sister is reborn?

The chances were there, she read newspapers regarding Victoria and the second princess had an eerie resemblance to Artoria.

But could she recall her prior life?

What about Mordred?

Or her other children?

If that'd be the case it'd be wise to steer clear of them entirely if they are in the same position as her.

" Guess I will have to wait and see ." Margo thought to herself.
