Chapter Sixteen
Bella's POV
"What the heck are you doing here?" Caden yelled, totally ruining the moment like he always did.
I sunk in the chair, praying that he just disappeared. But unfortunately, It didn't happen.
In fact, nothing happened.
Annoying ol' smirk boy was still at my back, doing what he did the most - bug me. And me, sitting there and praying for the heavens to get me already.
"I am talking to you, Mercedes!" he yelled again, raising his voice at me.
I looked back once again and realized he was with a lady, holding her at the waist. Was he seriously asking me that question?
Seriously? I should be the one asking the questions here.
"And who's the blond dork?" he asked, staring at the guy I met earlier with the dirtiest of looks.
"Caden, don't throw a tantrum here. At least not here," I pleaded in almost a whisper, trying as much as possible to not get the public attention he was so desperately seeking.
I mean, who knew when the press would come running in with those stupid light flashing cameras.
"So, I'm the bad guy here? Well that's funny 'cause last time I remember, you're the one meeting up with another person, and you're married!" he yelled, pointing his sharp little finger at my face.
"Soon to be married!" I shot, correcting him.
"Still gonna happen. In the law, we're legally married," he shot back at my face and stared. "And trust me to tell on you," he added and smirked, laughing with the stupid blonde he was holding like a Barbie doll. She was. more of a she devil.
"And who's she?" I asked, stressed out, so my eyes looked a lot pale and tired. I neeyd a nice trip away from there. I had been so stressed.
"She.....is not YOU so mind YOUR business!" he yelled and she whispered something in his ear which he laughed to.
"Oh, so you can cheat, and I can't cause you are...what's the word? KING?" I yelled, getting furious.
"As a matter of fact," he kissed her. Ewe, it was long, irritating, goose bumping and not to talk of disgusting.
"Yes I am," he completed his statement confidently like what he was doing was totally right and I had no right whatsoever to object him because I was the woman. The world's 'weak' gender.
"You know, you two should probably be together. You look good together!" I yelled, as I felt hot bowls of tears fighting their way down my cheeks.
I made sure a single tear didn't drop so long as I was there. It was bound to send a message that I was the weak one. At that point, I was weak. Really really weak. And tired.
Having blurted my last statement, I grabbed the bag of food and headed out.
"Have a safe drive," The guy I just met said with a cute smile and a little wave.
I just smiled, in order to prevent those tears from finally dropping and went on ahead.
"Have a safe drive," The she devil blonde said in a mocking voice to make fun of him. Her childlikeness was so irritating.
He ignored her, though and I respect him a lot for that. She didn't deserve the attention she craved, one bit.
I turned and took a step when Caden called me back. I didn't want to turn, but I was sure he wasn't gonna give up. Not then, not ever.
So I slowly turned back and in slow mo, I felt coffee, hot coffee spill on my face and clothes.
It was the blonde.
Argh! My body burned. My lips were shaking and I could feel my hands balling into fists, each bone coming in contact with the other and restricting the right flow of blood. I could tell my cheeks were already crimson and veins grew out of my body to my skin, popping out like vertical lines against a hard surface. She was on my nerves.
Caden plastered a smirk on his face and I was furious. He watched her do that? He was a monster.
My face was hurting so bad! My hot espresso was all over my face, and a bit of my hair. It was all messed up and I felt horrible.
"What're you gonna do about it? CRY?" she said and laughed with Caden, her boss.
I just turned back, still fighting back tears, and ran as fast as I could to just get away from them.
I finally got to the basement and still running, I tripped and fell flat in a puddle of water.
"Yuck! Why me," I said sadly, standing up all messed up.
"Towel?" A voice asked smoothly.
I looked up. It was the blond guy from earlier. How expected!
"Thanks," I said as he helped me up and handed a towel.
"I didn't even get the...."
"Kyle Newman," he interrupted and I smiled, really pleased.
"Oh, Kyle, wait! You are the famous singer on YouTube, right?" I asked, trying not to make my excitement much too obvious.
"You watch me?" he asked, surprised.
"Hell yeah! You always kill it!" I yelped in excitement.
"I'm not that good compared to you. I mean, you're a superstar!" he praised.
"Well, that happens to be true," We laughed.
"Can I have your autograph?" I asked.
"YOU want MY autograph? Its like asking for a worthless shit!" he chuckled. It wasn't so funny, so I didn't.
"Oh, you're serious...." he trailed off as his laughter faded and his straight face returned.
"Yeah," I nodded with a slight smile.
"Instead, we could exchange numbers," he suggested and dipped his hand into his pocket.
"That'd be great!" I said and we got the numbers.
"Wanna hang out? Or I could drive you home...." he said, poking my shoulder.
"I'd love to. But I guess I can't" I replied, staring at the ring.
"Oh, yeah," he nodded with a gloomy smile.
I smiled back. I'd be lying of I said it wasn't forced.
"See you later then?" he asked.
"Of course. Just call,"
"Like you would answer," he said and laughed. I still didn't laugh, still wasn't funny.
"Of course I would," I said with a smile.
"Then I'll call you,"
"Okay then, thanks for the towel, and the coffee," I concluded.
"No problem. A pleasure," he replied.
"See you,"
"Bye," he waved.
He walked away and I went off to the car. I dumped the bag on the passengers seat and just closed the door and sat there for a while.
I watched Caden and the blonde walk out of the mall, and go to her car.
They leaned over and made out. Of all places in the world, why the mall? They have no respect for visual and public peace.
I just grabbed the marvellous scenting chips from the bag and dug in, satisfying my stomach with every chew and swallow I made.
It tasted perfect!
I grabbed the nuggets and took a bite. That...was the best. And once the barbeque got in my mouth, there was a party and fire works were lit! Those cooks deserved awards.
I washed them down with the soda and stared at Caden again.
"You are so stupid!" I said to him in my car.
What did she have that I didn''t? I saw nothing different in her. Absolutely nothing.
I took another handful of the chips and stuffed it down my throat, stress eating and forcing back an ocean of tears into my eyes.
He was so annoying, and had the stupid gut to cheat on me, and then ask me why I was cheating. Such a joker. So much for getting married to that hottie.
Enough of crap! Enough of shit!
I reversed and drove back home, thinking of what just happened, and realising how much of a fool I was to think Caden liked me. He couldn't like me, it was just a social wedding. Just for the media and it all ended in front of the cameras.
I was nothing special. Nothing good, nothing perfect. Yeah, I knew.
