Chapter Fifty Four

Bella's POV

"So, had fun with your bid price?" Caden asked as I walked into the hotel, his face tightened with something I perceived was rage.

"Oh, you can't imagine!" I said and laughed hysterically with Sally, trying to make him feel jealous. But failing hard, I thought.

"You know sir, you should've been there," Sally added and I fist bumped her as we nodded our heads in unison.

"We need to rest," I whispered and we went on to our room, laughing and chuckling, leaving him in a horrible state of anger and jealousy, just like I felt back in L.A.

Karma was really doing a great job!

"Okay, girl. You totally killed Caden back there. I must say, i'm impressed," Sally exclaimed as we walked into my hotel room and dashed on the bed, pulling off our shoes tiredly.

"I know right!" I laughed and wiggled my legs on the bed happily.

"So, tell me. What happened with Cameron last night?" she asked, enthusiastic.

"What else would happen?" I laughed at the ridicule in her statement.

"As in something... Or nothing..." she tried to get it.

"Something. Duh!" I lied and she burst into laughter and I joined her, trying my best to not pull out my own cover.

Seriously, nothing happened yesterday. I couldn't. I just couldn't. I knew I was a totally different person then, but something just held me back. I didn't know if I still had those annoying feelings for Caden, or...I just kept remembering Caden. Caden, Caden, Caden.... I didn't know. What was wrong with my head!

"So, is there gonna be any parties or events tonight because I expected a hit last night!" she yelled and stared at the tablet.

"Yeah, duh! There's a party in the yacht. A friend of mine is hosting and it's more of a mad style party. As in...you know what i'm talking about!" I yelled and she burst out laughing once again.

"Now that's what i'm talking about!" she laughed hysterically.

"I'm gonna go get us something to eat. You be right here okay?" she said and stood up.

"You know it!" I smiled and she left, closing the door. I sighed.

I rolled on the bed, staring at Mercedes's phone. Just scrolling through stuff.

It was already twenty minutes and Sally wasn't back yet. I changed into black shorts and a neon green crop top, putting on my black clogs and leaving the room. Just opposite my room was Caden's. His words kept roaming in my head and I didn't know anymore.

Darn it, Bella!

I walked up to his door, willing to knock and tell him I was sorry, tell him nothing happened last night and nothing had ever happened between Cameron and I. I wanted to tell him all those but I couldn't. What if he was just joking? What if Sally was right? What if he was just playing me for a fool?

I brought my hands down and turned to go but then I heard the door open and he called me back. Oops.

"Yes?" I replied, turning back with a shameful smile pursed on my lips.

"What are you doing here? You want to see me?" he asked.

"No," I shook my head.

"I have something to say. Can you come inside for a moment. I promise I won't take much of your time," he pleaded.

"Okay," I agreed and walked into the room.

I sat on the bed and stared up at him.

"I know I've been the worst of people to you, especially in L.A. but please - i'm sorry," he apologized.

It sure took a lot of ego loss for those words to come rushing out of his mouth. Wow!

Why was he even apologizing? Was it even sincere? Was he lying? Or was I just being overprotective?

"Why are you apologizing? We don't have a thing, remember?" I asked, raising a brow.

"The - kiss..."

"Oh, forget that, Caden!" I snarled, not wanting to bring up the topic and turn my face to a blushing mess all over again.

"Mercedes, I am sorry. I know we don't have a thing but I...."

"Caden, I don't think this is necessary! Can I go now?" I asked, trying my best to not give up myself to him.

"Please, Mercedes. Just hear me out. I - "

"You what?" I asked, raising a brow. He hates me? He freaking what?

"I think......" he said again but paused.

"Caden can you spill your thoughts?" I asked, impatient.

"Mercedes, I..."

Mackenzie barged in.

"Hey honey!" she said and hugged Caden who just stared at me looking a whole lot of confused.

Darn it!

"Am I just a joke to you?" I whispered as I stood up angrily. I had no right to ask that question.

"Mercedes, no - I..."

I walked out the door and slammed it hard, with tears rolling down my cheek. I was hurt. I didn't think I needed anyone to tell me I still liked Caden. But it was him. He was the problem!

I ran to my room and slumped on the bed, ignoring Sally's unending questions on my whereabout.

"What happened? Why are you crying? Did Caden say something?" she asked unsparingly.

"No. I'm okay," I replied and sniffed, hiccuping and trying to prevent the tears before more questions from her comes.

"And you want me to believe you? I think you need lessons on how to lie and as always, i'm at your service," she said and walked over to me.

"I'm not lying!" I yelled.

"Tell me. What happened!" she yelled back and sat on the bed just beside me.

"Its Caden," I finally blurted out.

"I know. I mean. What did he do?"

"He - I don't know, hurt me," I replied and looked up at her.

"Hurt you? What do you mean hurt you? Are you in love with him?" she asked, confused.

"Must I be?" I asked.

"If you don't love him, nothing that he does would affect you. You must have something for him. Tell me. Do you?" she raised a brow and waited for a reply.

"I don't know!" I screeched and flopped my head on the bed once again.

"Tell me. What did he say?" she asked and stood up to get my lunch.

"Well, he apologized, and was about to say something but then Mackenzie barged in and hugged him. I couldn't stand the tears," I cried out.

"So you like him...funny because I don't think he does," she said and set a bowl of chips and a bottle of soda before me.

"Why do you say so?" I asked, opening the soda and taking a sip.

"If he loved you like you obsessively do to him, he'll have no room for that Mackenzie bitch. On a brighter note, what about Cameron? I mean he's cute and all and has better skills in handling people than that ass. Why stress over Caden?" she asked and took a gulp of her soda.

"I don't know. Cameron is just...." I shook my head and paused.

"You are so confused right now. But not to worry, the party is just what you need to get rid of this emotional ride you're going through. Don't you think so?"

"I guess," I shrugged.

"Anyway, it's a mask party so I already made preparations for your outfit," she said excitedly.

"My? Aren't you coming?" I asked.

"Well, I can't. I've got a couple of errands to run and I need to prove to your father that i'm up for the job," she sighed and rolled her eyes.

"Whatever. But I'll be lonely," I whined.

"Then invite Cameron. He's so fun to be around," she smiled dreamily.

"I know right! He's such a snack," I said, remembering his abs and well built body as I held up the chips and stared at it. I managed a smile.

"A snack? He's a fucking whole meal!" she yelled and we burst out laughing. At least the tears stopped.

"I'll just have everything ready and prepare you for the party. You need to rock it and if you can, put it on video. I can't be missing out," she pouted.

"Alright, that's insane but okay," I smiled and finished up my lunch while she busied herself with the tablet.

What was going on with my life?
