~Heath's POV~
"Okay, Subects! Today's the big day!" I heard one of the guards yell.
Annie was holding my hand, shivering.
Poor kid....
I sighed. How long have we been in this Hell? It felt like forever.
Annie looked up at me, sadness and fear in her eyes. "A-Are we going to be okay, Heath?" She asked. I patted her head. "I don't know. But, all we have to do is cross our fingers and pray."
She nodded.
Suddenly, a large metal door opened, revealing bright sunlight. I looked down at Annie.
Poor kid was nervous and scared and I didn't blame her. Who knows what our new life had in store for us?
We stepped out.
"Woah...." I mumbled, looking around.
The once fertile, beautiful farmland became a barren wasteland. And was that a mole rat in the distance? I squinted my eyes.
It was a mutant pig.
Annie gripped my hand tighter.
"Ladies and gentleman," the head guard said.
"Welcome to the Wastelands."
