A Simple Beginning -Chp. 1
This is a Rewrite of my very first book, "A MCSM Lukesse Fanfic An Unexpected Adventure"
But I can't even read the first sentence of that book without gagging, but the plot's decent, so I figured I'd rewrite it. Enjoy!
Jesse's POV
Jesse starred at her phone screen as she laid on her mattress, attempting to pass the time. She had to admit that it was unusual for her to have any sort of time in need of passing, if anything, she was usually in desperate need of more time. Being the Hero-in-Resident of Beacontown the last few years has taken a tremendous toll on her daily schedule. Though she loved running Beacontown, there were admittedly days where she wished she was back at her old treehouse, playing with her pig, and scrapping together materials. But a knock at the door disrupted the silence in the room. She replied by telling the person to come in. As the wooden door opened inward, she looked up and instantly recognized the fiery redhead starring back at her.
"Hey, Petra. Need something?"
"Yeah, are we doing anything today? Sitting the Temple doing nothing is mentally exhausting..." She asked in an exaggerated tone. Jesse let out a scoff and shook her head in disbelief.
"Petra, the Museum opens in just a few hours, you knucklehead!" She laughed. Petra's eyes grew wide with realization. Her brain had somehow made an error by mentally scheduling that event for tomorrow, a Saturday, rather than this Friday night.
"Oh, gravel! What time is it, Jesse? How long do we have?" Jesse reassured her that they had a couple hours to ready themselves. And with that, Petra left Jesse's room, leaving her to scroll through Picktagram one more time...
A couple hours had passed and she was waiting for Lukas to come home, as he had promised to pick her up and walk her there. As she waited for her date, she grabbed her notepad and scanned down the list of things she had written down in preparation for the Museum opening. Clearly Radar's punctuality had rubbed off on her. The first thing on the list was 'Have Lukas and Radar deliver the treasures', written in her scratchy handwriting, a small box with a check mark written beside it. The other things on her list were simple things, such as her dress and makeup, her purse, her speech cards, her phone, and other little things. She set it down, where her eyes turned to her phone and she pressed the home screen button to illuminate the screen, revealing the current time at the very top. A small smile crept to her lips as she took a moment to appreciate her lock screen's picture...it was of her and Lukas smiling at the camera, holding boxes that were filled with Lukas' stuff, by the entrance of the Temple. It was the day Lukas moved into the Temple with her, a milestone in their relationship...
The clear ringing of the doorbell filled her ears, taking her focus away from her brief moment of nostalgia. She stood up smiled, looking once more at the time on her phone while walking towards the door. It was 6:20pm, on the dot, the very minute that they had agreed on. A chuckle escaped her as she knew that that was very intentional on Lukas' part. She twisted the knob to reveal the dashingly handsome man before her...
Lukas' POV
He stood there at the doorstep of his home, nervously looking down at his watch to check the time every five seconds, his other hand tucked away in his suit pant's pocket, fiddling with the fabric inside. Every minute felt like a a lifetime as he waited for the hand on his watch to hit 6:20. When it eventually did, Lukas' slightly shaky finger pressed the doorbell's button, a loud chime being played upon contact. He stiffened, taking a deep breath as he started to straighten his tie and check his pocket. A few seconds later, the door swung open to reveal his date. Her silky dark hair was pulled up in a high, wavy ponytail, and her floor length dress was the color of mint chocolate chip ice cream. The sleeves were down to her shoulders, ending at her wrists, and the top half of her dress were adorned in sparkling jewels. His pupils dilated and his cheeks flushed red as he starred at her, taking in every beautiful detail...
"...wow. You look...incredible..." He flattered, whimsy in his voice, at a loss for words. Jesse's cheeks grew pinker than they already were, absolutely flattered by his comment.
"Thanks. You don't look so bad yourself." She joked, referring to his tux and purple tie.
"Ready?"
She nodded in response. He walked her over to the street, where she looped her hand through his arm. Jesse and him made conversation as we walked, talking about how we were disappointed that Axel and Olivia couldn't come. A large thunderstorm had wreaked havoc in BoomTown, and Olivia and Redstonia were assisting them, which occupied both of their times too much for either of them to attend. After a few minutes, the conversation had died down and he began to stare down at the ground, getting lost in my thoughts...
"Lukas?" Jesse interrupted.
"Uh, sorry. I was just in the writing zone." He shook my head and looked at her.
"Here? How? You're not writing." She asked curiously, cocking her head to the side a bit. Lukas smiled to himself, looking back down at the street.
"I was just thinking...it rained a lot yesterday. The water's still on the streets. And the glowstone...the parrots...the colors...they're all reflecting off the water, making the city's streets shine twice as bright. Magical...Don't you think?" Jesse starred at him with both wonder and disbelief . Then only laughed and smiled, giving him a peck on the cheek.
They arrived at the Museum, the sound of early guests mingling. Even from outside the entrance, they could hear the sound of charming music and laughing. Lukas looked down at his wrist, checking the time. They were early, as planned. They both spotted a familiar couple, Jesse's brother and his girlfriend, Petra, out in the crowd. But it was clear that they haven't seen them yet. Lukas turned to Jesse...
"Shall we?"
