A Missed Chance
Areums POV
It was around 3 in the morning when Anne came knocking on our cabin window. The coach and other officials had spent two days looking for her. No one knew where she was and I was even accused of being the cause of her disappearance.
I sat crossed leg on my bed. Anne stood leaning against the wall next to the door. "Where were you, the coach sent officers to look for you" I say crossing my arms. I watch as her eyes fill with tears.
"I...I just needed to get away that's all. I only walked a few miles but then... I ended up getting lost". She combed a hand through her red hair. I could barely see her face as the room was dark.
"We need to go tell the coach". I stand up ready to open the door when she stops me.
"I... I can't what if they expel me..." she says in panic. She crosses her arms around her body as if trying to shield herself.
"Look, I've already been in enough trouble as is. I guess we can wait until morning but you need to come forward yourself" I state. She nods her head and I breathe a sigh of relief.
I grab a blanket from my bed and one of my pillows. "You can use these for now. Tomorrow we are leaving anyway" I say as I climb back into my bed.
She whispers a soft thank you before laying the blanket out on the floor. I lay back in my bed the sound of Ciannes loud snores making it harder to fall asleep.
I decided to close my eyes. Eventually sleep had taken over.

"EVERYONE NEEDS TO LOAD THEIR BAGS ONTO THE BUS. WE LEAVE IN THE NEXT TEN MINUTES". The coach screams across the parking lot.
When I awoke the next morning Anne had already left. I wasn't sure what had happened as she had been keeping her distance from me. "Wow I can't believe they found her. For a second I thought she was probably dead" Cianne says.
I roll my eyes at her insensitive comment. "Well she's alive. I think when we get back we need to have a group meeting" I state.
Cianne gives me a funny look. "Since when were you calling the shots" She teases with an eyebrow raised.
"Since the dynamic of our group changed. It's clear Souline wants nothing to do with me". My eyes drift towards Souline as she talks to some guy.
After the little scene she caused I was starting to question our friendship. I was really starting to grow tired of her acting like some child just because she didn't want to stop singing lead.
With a sigh I watch as some of the students start to make their way onto the bus. I double check to make sure I have everything before standing in line to get on the bus. I feel slight pressure on my shoulder which immediately throws me off.
I turn to face Marcus's hazel eyes. "Ready to head back" he asks with a small smile. I nod my head not trusting myself to use my own voice. He looked good even in a basic blue tee with grey sweats.
I hop on the bus immediately making a beeline towards the back seats. I'm expecting Cianne to plop down beside me but instead a grinning Marcus takes a seat next to me.
"Uhh what are you doing"? I ask arching a brow.
"I'm sure it's quite obvious what I'm doing" he teases. He combs a hand through his dark messy hair. I try and peek to see where Cianne is when I see she is in the seat across from us next to a pouting Trevor.
Poor Trevor, this whole trip he's basically had to go with the flow.
"Well I think I'd much rather have my original partner back. So if you'll excu-"
"Why won't you give me a chance. It's like your constantly trying to push me away for no reason. Look I'm going to be honest here. I like you and I'd like to get to know you more but if I'm misinterpreting things wrong I'll back off" he says with finality.
He gets up from the seat motioning to Trevor to get up. I want so badly to stop him but I feel myself hold back. Cianne plops down beside and she gives me a look of disappointment.
I truly felt I had missed my chance.
