If Edith considered anyone a valuable member of her life, it was Charles Dominic schwitz. Charles was Edith's childhood friend. He was charming, handsome, learned young man of refined taste and background. He was a good friend, a good son, a good man but unfortunately not a very good businessman. His family had owned a large Estate and grand assets at a time but his father had lost it all and had drowned himself in debt which led to his early and sudden demise, much to the gloom of Charles.
Nevertheless Charles was very hard working and determined and believed that someday he would bring back his family's lost glory.
Charles could flatter any woman in his presence and Mrs Kepner adored him and frequently invited him over, much to the dislike of Mr. Kepner who did not like his daughter spending time with someone with a lack of money and establishments though he knew Charles was a decent fellow.
They were closest to each other. Edith was the only one who knew the depth of Charles ' character. She was the only one who could differentiate his light exterior from his serious incore.

Though he knew his feelings for Edith were more than friendship. He was in love with her. He felt her pain, her happiness, her grief. He could look at her all day and he'd be contented.

When he was with her he forgot everything, everything anyone could want but all he wanted was Edith, he wanted her like he wanted his next breath. He had faith in him, in them, he believed together they could Conquer anything, life, loss, death.... Anything......
