A few words.

Rant alert!

The Beautiful Accident is probably my most daring and experimental book that had me going completely nuts. I can't tell you the amount of times I changed the ending and the character purposes and everytime I did, I made my friends mad with me as well.

Thank you for listening to my rants eclipxeukkae, -agustellar, -mxjintrash, Heather10115, Gasai-

Anyways, coming to how the story came to be... I don't remember. I honestly don't remember. I spent so much time writing this that the first scene I ever thought of is a complete blur but since the prologue is mostly always what I come up with first, let's assume it is the beginning.

I had this idea of making the leads fight a lot and even though I don't do arguing scenes well, I tried my best. To be able to do this, I had to make both of them opposite of each other in some aspects. You can see it with how they both describe their ideal types and what they actually want in a partner.

I started planning Heejae's character when I was writing After Hours. She was described as a tough, strict woman and for the first few chapters of the book she is all rage and work and almost like a dictator who wants things done properly. Even when I got reviews for the book, the reviewers pointed it out that they couldn't really feel anything from her except her rage which was the point.

Her character development is a very satisfying one if I say it as a writer. I took into account that sexism exists in the show world. Starting from on screen to behind the screen, women have to struggle a lot and where it comes to taking leadership, women have to deal with a iron hand to get things done and that's why Heejae is how she is. Strong minded, bold, no nonsense attitude and direct.

But that is all her armour. Beneath it all she is still a woman who craves partnership and she is shown craving it since the prologue. She is shown finding that comfort in the way she dresses when she's just hanging out, looking for a partner to spend the night with and the way she let Yoongi lead in the bedroom. Although it's not shown in detail but there are little things that express it.

Now coming to Yoongi, like I always do, I tried to keep his character as close to real life as possible while still adding my own touch. I didn't want to stick to only one character trait of his. I wanted to show everything about him.

So starting with their relationship, he is shown a bit uncaring and aloof about it but that behaviour is explained with his reasoning that nothing good comes of getting attached to a person who is just supposed to be a fuck buddy. He is shown as a person who cares about everyone but he won't live his life for others either. Then comes his love language which is doing small things for the people he cares about rather than giving long speeches about his love and efforts which is shown abundantly in the book with the way he did things for Heejae and how he remembered her small preferences.

I also showed a more emotional side of his, along with a few subtle references to his mental condition and ADHD. I didn't want to completely ignore it because it's a part of him and he has never been secretive about it. So I wanted to include that and show how it affected him in stressful situations, like the scenes in the police station and when Heejae is attacked in the pub.

So, overall, I'm pretty proud of myself to have written these characters and how they change with time and get through with their issues with each other by talking and fighting. I mean, if it's the healthy kind of fighting and then talking through it, it's always nice for relationship building. Another point that I think came out pretty well.

The next important thing is the accidental pregnancy. I didn't plan this in the middle, it was always part of the story and if anyone paid attention to the blurb, it was quite apparent because it's about that bump, it's not about anything else.

So, yeah, the bump causes a lot of problems for the two but I didn't want to use the bump to build their relationship. Like building a relationship around a child and not around themselves, it kinda looks fragile to me. So I was very cautious once the pregnancy part was revealed. I had to be extra mindful about it because it's really easy to get things wrong when this particular topic comes up.

I'm inexperienced when it comes to pregnancy but I knew one thing that a child is not an excuse to be together. It only leads to more conflict and traumatises the child. So, before the pregnancy was confirmed, I made sure Heejae and Yoongi would come to a middle ground and not at each other's throat at every moment. That scene when they agree that their personal relation ends there was a big shift in the book. And because this shift happened, they could understand each other better and weren't as volatile together as they were before. It helped when they decided to get through the pregnancy together.

Now, here's something that I had changed multiple times when it came to the pregnancy. I had decided that Heejae would get hurt badly because of Hyunwoo and Donghae and she would lose the child. That way our leads would get separated for a while and reflect on their feelings for each other and then come back together. But nothing of that sort happened.

That is because, as I continued writing, the leads' relationship wasn't centred completely around the baby. They already had feelings for each other but because they were together, they intensified and they decided to give another chance to their relationship. And because they built the relationship for the sake of themselves and not the baby I had to decide against the miscarriage plotline.

Another thing that happened because of this decision is that I tried breaking the popular mould of idol dating and marriage completely. This series had been about normalising idol dating but because of this book, I can now try to use it for normalising marriage and family of idols who are active in the scene because at the end of the day they are humans and they deserve to be open about their feelings, relationships and family without being criticized for it.

Next up are Hana, Hyunwoo and Donghae.

Initially it was just going to be Hyunwoo and Hana who were out for blood but I just didn't get around the idea of making Hana a villain. Yes, I wanted to show how office romances can wrong and how it can ruin the lives of those included and truthfully, Hana was used by literally everyone. But I didn't want to get her included completely because that would have been predictable.

That's why I reintroduced Donghae into the scene, the worker that gets brutally humiliated and fired. I think Donghae gave Heejae a lesson too that she should treat her employees better while still being strict XD.

And coming to Hyunwoo, I tried real hard to misguide people into believing he was the good guy by diverting the attention to Hana and Kang Hei Ryung. I think, if I'm judging correctly from the comments I succeeded in that too.

But yeah, sometimes for a person to commit hate crimes there doesn't need to be a huge reason. Something as simple as rejection leads to so many crimes and that's why I didn't go much deeper in that. But the overall stress brought not only the leads but also family together.

Talking about family, Heejae's mother, Kang Hei Ryung had the biggest role in explaining why Heejae behaves the way she did. If you guys watch K-Dramas, you might have guessed that I took inspiration from Cheon Seo Jin in Penthouse. That series is one of the best representation of how it is in the world of rich and I did my best too to show that romanticising the rich is not going to hide the fact that normal people can never fit in.

Even so, Hei Ryung's character gave Heejae the push to face her demons and for Hei Ryung to try better for restoring and rebuilding her relationship with her children and husband that she had ruined by thinking about her business. There is no home if there is no family and so, Hei Ryung did her best to improve herself.

If you are reading or planning to read Giselle, you'll get to see more of Hei Ryung but mostly as a businesswoman rather than a mother. She's a very interesting character.

Overall I think, I did a pretty great job with this book despite it being such a roller coaster ride. I enjoyed writing this very much and I hope you all enjoyed it too.

Lastly, I would just like to say thank you so, so much for everything who read it, voted on it, commented on it and can't forget the ghost readers. Thank you all very much. I wouldn't have been able to write this and continue the craziness without your support.

Special thanks to _helia2 and ssomieBtsarmy for cheering me up in the comments and dms. I love you guys to death and I don't know what I would do if someday I stop seeing your votes on my books. I can't believe you guys have stayed since the first book and waited so long for each update. Thank you so very much and I'm gonna stop before I start crying.

For this book especially, there are too many people to mention but I'll still thank you all for reading and I really really hope you enjoyed it and I didn't bore you too much.

I love you all!!
