Heejae loved movies since she was little. If the piano was her first love then movies were her affair. She could never get tired of them and had no idea when her craze for it turned into a career. She now loved making films.
The kind of films she had been doing for the past few years weren't really what she exactly wanted. She didn't want to be in the advertisement and music industry forever. She wanted to do something like she had done for her final project in the final year of graduation.
She wanted to make a short film. Good enough to get her studios out of small work though it paid her bills.
But by now, having watched so many movies and films in different languages, she knew that stuff in movies didn't happen in real life often unless the story was based on real-life events.
However, as she stayed rooted to her seat in Hyunwoo's car, her hand gripping the photograph and the urge to cry strong, she was sure she was part of a movie. And she knew exactly what would happen next.
"Sweetie, don't be scared," she heard Hyunwoo say in a sweet voice as he stopped the car. Her eyes focused on the windshield and saw that she wasn't in front of her mother's house. What had she expected?
"I won't hurt you, I promise," he continued, his hand softly touching her arm and making her flinch as she looked at him. She saw something pass through his eyes, anger perhaps and her eyes widened in fear of what he might do.
"Your hand is cold," she whispered quickly and it seemed to calm him as he smiled at her comfortingly. She wasn't comfortable at all, she was shit scared.
The photos she had glanced at had shown a particular person she had fired long ago but that wasn't what had her body going cold in fear. It was the other picture that showed him meeting up with Hyunwoo, his face twisted in a mask of fury.
It was him all along and Mr. Kim had helped him.
"I'm sorry, I guess it's just the adrenaline. Your hands are cold too," he noted as he gripped her hand. "I'll warm it up for you. We'll warm each other up."
Heejae gulped, bile rising but she did her best to not show her fear and repulsion to his touch as she gave him a faint smile. She wasn't a fool and she wasn't about to make stupid mistakes such as enraging this man whom she had known since her teenage but not truly because he was never that active in her life. She wondered at that moment as she stared into his careless, dark eyes, a boyish grin on his lip; what made him so obsessed with her.
“Will you please explain to me now?” she asked hesitantly, her voice soft and she was thankful it wasn't as shaky as she felt. “You said you would explain everything to me.”
He sighed then, his hands tightening on her as he looked away. She saw his shoulders tense, the muscles moving under his shirt that served as a reminder that he was much bigger and stronger than her; one wrong move and it would end badly for her and she couldn't risk anything right now. She had been enough of a fool already.
“I don't know where to start but I guess I'll start from the beginning.” Her heart dropped at his words. She didn't know what he meant by beginning but she didn't want the beginning, she just wanted to know why he and Kim did what they did. However, she bit her tongue and listened to him patiently.
“You were feared by everyone in the school because of who your mother is,” he began, “and though I would often see tears in your eyes from always being left alone, you never cried. I'm pretty sure you didn't know this but I was bullied. Hurting a powerless, shy, nerdy kid is cool apparently and that honestly sucked but I wasn't too sad because I had you with me. We didn't talk much to each other but you often smiled at me when passing and I immediately fell in love. You were my light in the darkness.”
He took a breath, stopping for a while as he gathered his thoughts while she did the same, trying to remember her dreadful, blurry past and try finding his face in it.
“You suddenly vanished after school ended and my chances of ever talking to you after I held you while you cried during the annual function died down right there. But my love didn't. I kept loving you the same way I did in school. I never touched another woman because I was yours. When we met again, I thought it was as if fate was finally answering my prayers and I couldn't help but follow you everywhere. I didn't want to lose you again.”
Heejae’s eyes widened despite herself and a painful sound left her lips when his grip got tighter than comfortable. A few tears rolled down her face as she looked down at their hands and when she looked up, she found Hyunwoo staring at her with anger.
“I thought everything was going to be fine, seeing how our mothers were already planning our wedding. I was giddy but I never thought your boy toy would cause us so much trouble. But don't worry, I'm not angry at you for letting him touch you. You are a beautiful woman and you have needs, I understand perfectly so I didn't mind you hooking up with him. I do mind him thinking he can control you like that though. He has no right!”
Heejae flinched as his voice suddenly got loud and the anger in his eyes turned to fury. But it seemed like he wasn't paying attention to her anymore, he was too far into his head. He took a deep breath however in an attempt to calm himself down and continued speaking.
“I lied to you the first time our pictures got published, Heejae. You are so smart to figure out that it was me who did it but you were so easily manipulated and it gave me hope. I also knew back then that doing that will separate you two and though I hated seeing you cry yourself to sleep every night, I was glad he was gone. It was so nice to have you all to myself but I didn't understand what changed for you to suddenly push me away. It took me two sleepless nights of tracing back your steps to know what was wrong. I found out you were pregnant.”
Of all the things he had revealed till now, that one line had her going completely numb. He knew. He had known all along and she was sure he was going to use that piece of knowledge to his advantage. She whimpered at the thought involuntarily and that seemed to snap his attention back to her.
Instead of malice surprisingly, his face turned soft, his touch soothing as he lifted his hand to caress her face.
“Don't worry, sweetie. I told you I won't hurt you and the fact that you are pregnant doesn't change anything between us. You knew I wanted kids and did what you thought was right and I'm so happy you conceived. You are going to be such a good mother.”
She wanted to vomit, her whole body burning in disgust at his deranged words. He thought she got pregnant for him, he thought she was doing this all for him. It made her want to laugh and cry at the same time. Her only consolation was the fact that he wouldn't hurt her, the way he looked down at her belly with so much adoration, she knew he wouldn't. And so she opened her mouth to spur him on, feed his ego.
Smiling, she pulled her hands away from his hand and pressed them against her lower stomach, and saw his eyes light up. It was unnatural, deranged but whatever kept her safe for the time being. “I’m glad you think so, Hyunwoo. I’m glad you are happy with my decision and we are going to be the best parents.”
If possible, his grin grew bigger, his eyes brighter as he nodded at her laughing softly.
“But why didn't you come to me?” she asked. “Why did you send those photos and that rabbit? Do you know how scared I was? I thought I was going to lose o-our baby.” She felt physical pain as she said those words, finding it impossible to not just run away from this crazy man but she held on. She needed to know.
She watched his brows furrow, his eyes turning guilty. “‘I’m sorry about that, Heejae. I just wanted to scare that man and leave you alone as he continued to claim right over our baby. I couldn't bear it and Kim thought it was a good idea. He even got that little girl to do his bidding so it didn't get lost. That girl is crazy for Yoongi, did you know?” he chuckled at that, shaking his head a little. “But I relate to her because I know what being crazy in love feels like.”
Heejae managed to smile shyly as she looked away from his eyes. Something had suddenly changed, the aura around him made her want to run for the hills but she was so incredulously helpless.
She gasped in shock when he caught her by her neck and pulled her face close to his. Her body started to shake when she saw his eyes darker than before, focused on her lips as he bit his own. Gulping hard she started to panic, her body burning from his touch. Her mind was racing a million miles per hour as she thought of something to stop him from kissing her again.
“W-Wait!” she shouted in panic as he pulled her even closer. She put her hands on his chest as she tried to put distance between them.
He looked at her and glared. “What is it?” he asked impatiently.
“Why did you save me tonight if you were working with Kim?”
The crease between his brows deepened as he bristled. “I wasn’t working with Kim. He was working for me but he got way ahead of himself. I told him he wasn't allowed to hurt you in any way but he went ahead with his plan anyway. I couldn't just watch, so I got you out of there like a good partner, unlike that boy toy who couldn't do even that...”
He continued cursing Yoongi for his incompetence but Heejae had zoned out as her mind processed everything that came out of his mouth. It was too much to think about all at once and this wasn't even the time to think about anything but getting away from him. She needed to get away, inform the police and find Yoongi so she could just messily make out with him as an apology for not listening to him.
If she got out of this mess safely, she was going to have to listen to him brag at every turn but she didn't care at that moment.
“Take me to my mother’s house please, Hyunwoo,” she asked in her sweetest voice, interrupting him mid-sentence. He didn't seem to like that much as he clenched his jaw angrily, his grip on her neck tightening.
“Why should I do that? I've got my hands on you with so much difficulty, I can't let you go now.” Heejae could only grimace as she tried to come up with an excuse but before she could start explaining, he said something that froze her on her spot.
“Do you think I will let you go so easily and let you tell your bitchy mother and shit of a brother about me? Do you really think you are so smart?”
Her eyes widening in panic, she clutched onto his arms as she denied his claims. “No! Absolutely not! I just want to tell my mother and get her blessings and also so you can ask her permission to marry me.”
He didn't seem very convinced with her words but she did see him thinking about it. This man was so naive and easy to handle, she thought just as she bent forward, a seductive smile on her face and her hands rubbing his arms comfortingly.
“You want to marry me, don't you, Hyunwoo?” she asked, faking shyness as she noticed his cheeks taking on some colour and his pants tightening from arousal. She couldn't help but smirk as she thought to herself, men are so easy.
“I know I want to marry you. Legally,” she added quietly for good measure and had to stop herself from pushing him away as he put his forehead on top of her, his hot breath fanning on her lips.
“You mean that?” he asked her, his voice vulnerable. For a moment, she felt bad for him and though that feeling was going to burden her for a long time, she couldn't just excuse his behaviour. She was being stalked for who knew how long and he knew everything about her. This was nothing but an obsession that was creeping her out by the passing minute.
“I mean it,” she told him as solemnly as possible and heaved a sigh of relief when he pulled away and started the car.
“After we talk to your mother, will you come with me?” he asked her just as he drove his car through the gates of her mother’s big house. This time the lie slipped past her lips quite easily when her gaze fell on her brother’s car and beside it stood Yoongi’s car.
“Of course.” Of course, I'll agree with anything, now that I know I'm safe, she added in her mind with a relieved smile.

A/N:
Word count : 2350
This is by far the longest chapter I might have ever written but I hope this clears stuff and I would absolutely love to know what you think about the story.
Is it how you expected it to be?
Are there any changes you'd like to see or certain scenes to be included?
What do you think about the characters?
Are you enjoying it?
That has to be the most important question.
Anyho, I do hope you are enjoying it cuz this book has been a challenge for me since the beginning and basically at this point, I'm just going crazy with it so I hope it's not too odd or anything.
Thank you for reading!!
