"Clubbing tonight?" Anika asked Heejae as soon as they were out of the studio, done with the shoot for the day. Heejae looked over at her friend, beaming.

"Any special occasion?" Heejae questioned in return as she got herself a cold tea out of the vending machine. Anika shrugged her delicate shoulders, her hands inside her pockets, giving her a wistful smile. "I don't need an occasion and you know that."

Heejae's eyebrows shot high as she gasped dramatically. "Don't tell me. Are you finally taking my advice on having an affair because your husband isn't satisfying you?"

That made Anika wince, her smile dropping just a bit even though she knew Heejae was only joking. It was true though. In the five years of being married, she had never once felt married. She couldn't really blame anyone except herself.

To mask the hurt, Anika playfully shoved at the shorter woman's shoulder. "Yah! Only you can think about such unethical things. I'm very faithful."

"Apparently the only one. I'm telling you, Anika. Your husband is cheating on you," Heejae said seriously, taking a long sip of her tea as she watched her friend heave a heavy sigh. "Let's drop the subject, Jae. I want to go fill my system with alcohol and club music and I'm not going alone. So, your only choice is to accompany me and prevent me from doing something stupid."

That successfully put an end to the topic. Anika knew Heejae was protective of her close one's. She also knew her crazy drinking habits and that made her agree to accompany her.

The two friends chose to go to a nearby pub however, since it was a weeknight. They couldn't afford getting a hangover the next morning and Heejae with a pounding headache on work was a disaster.

"Just two glasses, Anika. I'm warning you already. You get drunk easily," Heejae said, sipping on her cold beer slowly. Summer nights and cold beer was the best combination ever.

Anika giggled from beside her. "Alright, boss. Whatever you say. Come to think of it," she said, staring at her glass aimlessly with a dreamy smile on her lips. "We've worked hard. We've come so far, haven't we?"

Heejae grinned looking at her friend. "Yeah, we have but we still have a lot left to do." This time, the brown skinned woman turned to look at her friend. "Remember that time after our first shoot? The music video shoot for a group that was on the verge of disbanding?"

A nostalgic smile graced the other woman's lips. "How can I forget?" she said. "It was such a hit. Although the pay was small and the group did disband, it was our big break."

Anika chuckled. "Yeah and we stayed unemployed, working as assistants under different people for the next six months." Heejae couldn't help but join in laughing.

"I remember! And we almost got caught robbing ramen." Now the women were straight out cackling, remembering the old times.

"That was really the first time I stole something. If stealing coins doesn't count," Anika said with her most serious tone. Heejae could only shake her head. "What could we have done? We were utterly broke."

"You could've done some part time jobs," the old bartender suddenly piped in. The young women shared a look before giving him an apologetic smiles. "Of course, we were doing part time jobs, uncle. How do you think we managed to get equipment for shooting? The equipments are crazy expensive, you know?"

The old man smirked. "I've been seeing you two for a few years now. Don't ask me to believe you. You two are as sly as a fox."

"Of course, we are, uncle," Anika piped in, finishing her drink and passing the money for her drink. "It takes skills to convince your in laws to let you work in a foreign country. And it takes even greater skills to get out of one's celebrity mother's shadow. We've lived quite well in that aspect, don't you think?"

The old man just smiled at the giggling girls with adoration. It was true that the both of them had lived diligently, if one ignored those two packets of stolen ramen. And the old man, who had been assigned to look over Heejae, was quite proud of both of them.

As the old acquaintances continued conversing about old times, sneaked in snacks and dirty part time jobs, Heejae's phone pinged with an incoming message.

Her smile not wavering, she opened her phone. She felt her heartbeat pick up as she read the name of the person who sent her the message. Shielding the phone screen to avoid someone peeking, she opened the chats and read it.
