The Scheme of Naegi
Read in Landscape!!!
And both the man and boy did go in silence rode the pair
As ones who tried to challenge fate and lost their fabled dare.
Yet on they went the winding road now knowing fate their give
Was sure by lies and fiendish schemes and bare ambition bid.
And long the boy did think on fate now knowing well this fact
That master sure could win their place if given chance to act
In war and prove to rest of clan that thing their told was lie
That man and boy deserve to live and clannish halls abide.
He knew not skill that man did own in days before his time
When man was whole and strong and young, what fury boy would find
In form or skill with ancient blade, yet boy did know this well
That still in master's mind and body dreadful talent dwells.
If one would say no other lost yet more in strength and skill
That one must also say no other lost so much and still
Could claim the title master sword nor counter other's blade
Though blade's enforced by years of craft and fearsome training made.
And though the path of warrior clan that trained with famous swords
That smiths of Nihon's ancient realm alone for them did forge
Did bid the boy accept his fate and take what clan decreed
To bend his will to warring law and words of noble's heed
Yet still his mind is bent on siege of which they have no part
Of way to join the warring mass and prove in both their hearts
A valor lies that bids them go and win for selves reprieve
From exile gave by fiendish foe that both their heart's do grieve.
So long his mind does turn on plan though none does boy yet find
Nor thinks of any way yet give to ease their present bind
Of exile far from ancient home that forbears long did keep
Along with honor gave by such that both the pair did seek.
Though great and hard on any task his thoughts do strive to know
Yet all are stricken far from path and none could help their goal.
His sire the current warring king who sat in ancient halls
As head of all his warring clan in fortress great that sprawls
Would grant no favor down to boy for man had spoke his will
That all his day's yet far from home the boy would live in still.
And just to join the siege without a word would futile prove
To watch and spy and guard his ranks their foe is now behooved
To keep the pair from glory won by any warring act
Securing station gained by lies, his present course and tact.
And even if the pair could join, abet by fog of war
Yet still no one would know their acts or courage pair had bore.
So after mind yet many paths had trod and met their end
That neither man or boy could go for clan their path had fend
To join the siege and gain for selves reprieve from current plight
By taking arms and working well to aid their kin in fight
Did boy yet cast his mind to days yet far in past now laid
Although his sire such an act to child express forbade
Did still he wander back through time to former days yet past
Before the boy was cast from halls as clannish council ask.
Of comfort found with kin inside that comely whittled place
That all the wealth and fairer things of Nihon's holds did grace.
Yet comfort found by act was short as soon to darker time
The boy's own mem'ry turns at last and many sorrow's finds.
How child was bid to go from halls and live yet far from kin
And down to poorest 'mongst the poor was bid to current live.
Those days when first at master's side he came and doubt was made
That any skill the boy could forge or any strength yet claim.
How child had ran from home in cover gave by night
And all the many things he saw, the great awful sights...
Then sudden eyes of boy did spring and mouth did widely gape
For child had found a path to trod that altered both their fate's.
Now quick he bid his master stop and pull to side of road
That both at resting place could set and plan he made be goad.
For briefest moments pause can change yet many future years
If only thing he wished to speak would master stop to hear.
"My master hear my words and know
The plan I've made that mind does goad.
A path I've found to join with men
And bring the siege they made to end.
I bid you hear my plan and learn
What dreadful ploy my shemings earned."
And hearing boy the man did pause though thinking fate was set
Yet still a little longer man his childish hopes abet.
Though knowing hope would heighten fall when path they seeks not found
And both the pair to current fate are still at present bound.
Yet man like father loved the boy and dared not steal his hope
Though warrior doubted thing would change their fate to any note.
So off to side of road he went and halted steed they ride
So brief the man and boy at edge for moments long could bide.
"Pounding of drums and the orders of kings
Both of these things do an action yet bring.
Also your words may yet bid us to move
Setting on path yet as thing does behoove.
Tell me your reason and tell me your scheme
Tell me what thing would our comfort yet bring."
And boy when hearing words of master spoke his fabled plan
The thing that future times would say made legend out of man.
As boy does bring to mind the things from first the time they met
The venture took by boy that present hour sure abets.
"Recall my master day yet past
When man did act as council ask
And brought this child to master's home
So skills of boy the man could hone.
In early days I venture took
And place you dwelled I first forsook.
To find a diff'rent lot in life
That boy could live yet far from strife.
Recall the many wonders found
That dwell in Nihon's fabled bounds.
The creature boy was bid to lead
To join the clan as children heed.
These oni's simple-minded ways
Allowed you lead as ever bade.
As long as man did first enrage
And taunts against their tribe did wage.
I think these beast we both could use
To foes of clan yet great abuse
By leading beast to fortress walls
Where clannish host does current sprawl.
Like boy from tale you former told
When lacking courage great and bold
Did lead those beast to village square
On word of ill begotten dare.
We too could take the beast to place
On back of horse at fastest haste
And let them tear the fortress walls
And burn the castle current sprawled.
Then all would know and see our act
And grant again our former pact
To let us join our clannish kin
When oft to battle men they send."
And warrior's struck by words of boy that path for both had wrought
A way to join again their clan that both the pair had sought.
He lifts his head and bellows loud with laughter great and proud
At will of boy so strong and fierce and will that's great uncowed
By former fortunes gave to pair in old and present times
He still did onward work and strive to solve their many binds.
"Trumpet of victory message from friend
All do yet bring what is joy in the end
Words you have spoken have granted reprieve
Time has not come for the pair to yet grieve.
Gather your wits with your courage and craft
Men will yet bring on our foes what is wrath."
Then quickly man did spur his horse and off the pair did fly
To shack where many warring tools for both the men did lie
With haste they made though time did slow like pair did former want
When dueling chore the man and boy's own mind's did surely daunt.
Yet such is time a fickle thing that slips away from hand
When needing more to help your course and chart a path or plan.
Yet slows when way ahead you's known and ready stands your heart
To journey forth and find your fate by taking battling part.
To shack they went where many years the pair by self did live
Gathering tools of trade they owned in hopes it help did give.
The claws and hooks of sieging fare the man and boy espy
And take in hand the weapons warrior owned in former times.
A mighty bow the child does grasp and throws across his arm
Uneven tilt the weapon's gave that yields a greater harm
To all who draws its deadly aim or cross across the path
Of men who worked to hone it ways and polished well its craft.
It's quiver brimming nearly full with arrows cautious carved
Meticulous craft both darts and skill on which he labored hard
Beneath the eye of man who claimed the boy as sordid heir
And trained the child in all the ways of death he's bid to dare.
Foreboding manner both now bear atop the steed they rose
With face that owned a stoic will and great conviction holds.
The boy in front but backwards turned with bow he solid gripped
And man with reigns in single hand that doubly hard he whipped
Thus, bidding beast to forward go and journey 'cross the land
To take the pair to hidden place the oni current stand.
A journey great for just a boy but hasty made by men
Who once before to place he bode in younger days did wend.
Their heart did press them onward drive and push their warring steed
Still strength reserved was thing they knew they'll need for vaunted deed.
For soon their beast would bid be run like never 'fore this time
Alone to race against the deaths that many men would find
If failing flight from dreadful beast on tact they current chose
And erring great in face of threat that effort high did pose
Would men elide not fate of death except the certain foot of steed
That carried men yet ever on to face their warring deed.
To tribe of beast, they hasty come, for boy the second time
He looked on dreaded acts the beast at present hour bind
Their sinewed face and giant frame still fearsome sight beheld
Like time that child in present wilds in former times did dwell.
For long they gazed on beast below their tusk and maws now wet
With frothy mix of rabid foam that fearsome sight abets.
The man from beast did turn the steed and readied creature's way
To fly across the foreign field where men at present lay.
Then foreign bow the boy did draw and aim at Oni's eye
An act that both these beast and fate did work to well defy.
He calmed his breath and felt his heart he slowed from rapid pace
To just a beating thudding crawl, a foreign skill he makes.
Between the pulses boy now loosed that famous mythic dart
That flew to eye of single beast and played it's fabled part.
And howling cry did rend the land and all the monster's tribe
Now rose as both the pair had planned to see what foe derides
The vaunted stance they long had kept perturbed by brazen act
Of men who current sought their rage for some perplexing tact.
With pounding stomps they forward went their club above them swung
And roaring voice that's full of rage that cross the country sung.
No act undaunted ever made before against their kind
Incensed as much their privileged state as one they present find.
A half a dozen raging ogre's raced to place they keep
And head of both the man and boy did all the creatures seek.
So grasping reigns the master whipped and sped aloft his steed
In hopes to fast accomplish thing they planned as warring deed...
