Naegi Awakens

Read in Landscape!!!

The student woke to aching form his body beat and hurt
Yet bandaged well in way that spoke of someone's healing work.
He gazed around to see the place in which he current laid
The second time in all his life he woke in hovel's lay.

No one about him keeps this hut the walls in which he slept
No other person stood as guard from room their current left.
For moment passing man does think and knows his chance to leave
To freedoms call he hopes to go and answer quick it's heed.

For sake of time before when took asleep as child on ground
That time alone a yawning tomb was thing he almost found.
So man does start to rise from bed but's stopped by searing pain
And force to lay aback on mat with wounds that work like chains.

To keep him held inside this place though great his will to leave
Still hurt from hail of arrows shot his mortal form does grieve.
So down he's force to lay and wait and learn his captor's will
In hopes that man may still yet live if person gains their fill

And seeks no great recourse from man who's current downward laid
Inside the little room he dwells no other favor gave.
And many hours waits he long with pain his daunting binds
That hold the man inside this place till finally captor finds

Him woken up and bearing little strength against their will
Then would whoever brought him here an aid to man be still?
Yet only choice though very poor's the act to bide his time
And see if any words he speaks would move the heart and mind

Of man who brought him down to rest from place where warrior laid
For once that man already spared his life from surest grave.
Then sudden through the door their came a maiden poor forlorn
With dirt on face and peasant's air and clothes so weary worn.

She sudden stopped when seeing man her eyes now opened wide
Expecting little rouse from sleep of warrior downward lied.
Then quick on ground the serf does kneel and speaks in pausing voice
To lay before the warring man her current will and choice.

"My liege I bid you gentle lay and rest
Though hard your hurt and great your coming test.
Still serf is here to serve her noble sire
Though cost be great if thing is known and dire.

So please I bid you stay inside my meager home
For both our sakes forestall your will to roam.
And let me nurse you back to former health
Where strength was gave in greatest bounties wealth.

Before the hurt that laid you low in bed
When lieges squadron shot to render dead
The man who came on errand sent to help
The people current living deep in land now dwelt."

And hearing words the noble rest to see the will of maid
To help the man who's current hurt and present sickly laid.
Then starts he quick to ask aloud what wretched deed was done
What fiend of foreign wealth and power would make this tale be spun.

Beyond the pale of warring code the actions fell did fall
No warring lord of current fame would render such a call.
To slay a man that's easy claimed by lordly might and hand
No one who wields a curving blade would render such a plan.

"Lack of what's mercy and sudden attacks
Neither these things are the samurai path.
Tell me if ally you think of yourself
Speak of the one who has stolen my health.

Hide from me nothing and keep no alarm
Tell me what's truth so I'm better to harm
One who has hurt and injured this land
Owned by the lordship of Samurai clan."

Then hearing words the maiden swiftly breaks her eyes from liege
And downward looks to show a face for long that's greatly grieved
That told the man of many hurts that all who felt were made
To live beneath their current liege and do as man had bade.

Yet still she knows that forth she must yet tell the tale of long
How ancient man of wicked fame had wrent in manner strong
From former lord who ruled these lands though man was seldom kind
Yet still those former days agone were still a better time.

"When small was maid in days before
And given well to all my chores
In time when realm was ruled in peace
Though peasant's lot was seldom ease

We all were still yet kept and good
In noble realms now current stood.
Those days were kind our lands were fair
And hearts were light with common cares

That every living person's felt
No greater burden deep then dwelt
Inside the heart of all who're made
To dwell in peasant village laid.

And common joy we also kept
As any mortal men adept
Who lived in world their grant to live
Those days our share of good was give.

But rose a shadow come from foreign fame
That fell on realm our meager wealth to claim.
A wizard come to lay his hand as lord
And bid the serfs to serve his lot as horde.

He slew the men our former master bid
To render service ancient code had give.
And claimed the life of man with deed
As wants of heart alone did move the fiend.

And after war there came a dreadful spell
That fell on all who lands now current dwell.
Not touch of age nor hurt of limb we're give
Nor weary heart or empty stomach bids

Us ever stop the work we work for lord
As ever all are made to add to horde
Of wealth in both the day and night that crest
Forever all who labor here are test.

No time to sleep or see our kin we're gave
The only rest we're ever give's the grave
And fate as such is only grant by hand
Of fell and famous spell aspinning man.

For fifty years a living death our fate
As folk await a time when such abates."

Then hearing words the man was struck at such a strange event
Not ever 'fore this very time he ever heard it vent
That such a eerie spell was cast as one that wizard's done
Nor ever odder tale he heard as one that peasant's spun.

So quick he spoke and bid the maid not fear for self or fate
A will of stone he present kept to make this thing abate.

"Wrath of your liege and the secrets he hears
Neither these things should a maiden yet fear.
Still I will wait till I'm healed and then well
Deep in this cabin the peasant does dwell.

Far I will go in a haste I will flee
Back to my clan where the warrior will plead
Asking the elders to muster their force
Bringing their masters to journey yet forth.

Facing the wizard with all of our power
Ending his might and this land we will scour."

Then sudden peasant shook her head her face was sick and pale
And shadow came across her form that showed as one whose fell.

"My liege I bid you hear the voice of maid
Who long so many years ago yet laid.
Her eyes on power wizard kept and still
At current time is present thought to yield.

No mortal foes or weapons craft by men
This threat does maid believe will ever end.
To do as man has said is surest death
That leaves the whole of clan of life bereft.

If man does bring a siege to wizard's door
Where man his mighty eldritch spells implores
To turn aside the will of foe to end
And all to guard his keep from those who tend

The ancient curving blade and all it's craft
In flames of ancient spell and wicked wrath."

Now hearing maid he troubled thought on thing he present knew
Was man so dire a threat that any mortal force yet grew
Is doomed to fail and fall before the throne of such a fiend
What wicked power fell and great for men does witching bring?

Yet still the man is bid to learn and practice well his craft,
And bring atop the head of foe a great and fearful wrath
Or lose his life at least attempting plan of foe to thwart
By cutting ancient reign of man as one yet swift and short.

"Raging of river and mountainous loss
Both of these things you are bidden to cross
Also this foe I am forced to yet meet
Bringing my clan for a dueling feat.

Paths are now chosen and already paved
Even the ones that may lead me to grave."

So spoke the warring man in bed who greatly injured lied
Though harsh his form his whispered words conviction great belies
His daunting tone that bids the quest and sends him forth to doom
That surely grants the noble man an early given tomb.

But sudden maiden spoke and gave a separate course to take
Yet one she hoped might alter both the maid and warrior's fate.
In rushing tone she spoke with strain to give him knowledge held
Of strangest thing that either one of pair had thus beheld.

"To west of pair, in mountain range so tall
Where many bandits lay and dangers sprawl
A sword is laid and hidden deep by time
That only rumors serve as map to find.

This ancient weapon hidden well by age
Though great the trial and long the labor waged
Yet once retrieved could cut yet any curse
And leave what's even wizard left for worse.

Though faintest hope still hope it gives to man
Whose only other choice is hopless plan
And even little chance is better yet
Than one that only surest death abets.

So hear my words and know my faint respire
To take that blade is maiden's deep desire,
But lo no man is skilled with use of weapons held
Who current lives inside this place and dwells

Amongst our folks no need for warring ways
Before his thieving hand on hold was laid.
But present time there stands yet one whose power
Arrives and grants us hope in darkest hour.

So please I bid you wait till time is gone
And journey well with maid though journey's long.
I'll further give the blade as payment earned
For helping folk this wicked chief to spurn."

And hearing words the man now thought on thing the maid did tell
Perhaps a way to stay his course escaping fate so fell.
While also keeping honor doing thing his code did bid
Eschewing death while keeping vows that man to clan did give.

So quick he spoke and gave himself to thing that maiden ask
Again the man would journey far to do a questing task.

"Ridding to battle and forlorning task
All of these thing we are bidden when ask
None we may wish for or seek yet at time
Neither our joy in these things we will find

Still we will do them when honor does heed
Working performing whatever it needs.
Give me yet time to be healed from my wounds
Time will then come for us marching to gloom

Gaining the tool that's unknown to the world
Long in the past by the ages unfuled.
Hope now for time that too late may yet be
Given by body exacting it's fee."

The maid then further speaks to set aside the warriors fear
Though doing so on an even graver course for both will veer
On road they take for questing chore to gain the saber hid
Inside the mountain high on course their both at present bid.

"Fear not the time or trial give to man
That comes about by resting long as planned
By maid, for even though this course we heed
Still time and effort woman current needs.

For only winter time is safe to roam
And leave this place though place for long's my home.
Without the cover gave by winter's dust
No course or act we take for sure we'll trust.

And doing so requires goods and food to keep
Along with other things to warm our sleep.
So rest and focus all on gaining better health
Before we leave in midst of night with stealth."

And Warrior nods his head at maid to show he knew his role
The acts that man would surely heed to help them meet their goal.
For long in bed he rested deep and gained by day and day
The strength he needs to onward go and do as maiden bade.

Inside the hut he kept himself and moved not ever far
Though want to leave did weigh in heart yet very great and hard.
He stayed there hid and kept himself inside the little room
For sake of maid who risked her life and tempted certain doom.

And maiden here did greatly show a courage few could find
By placing self in deadly maw and risking such a bind.
From stores of wicked wizard king the maiden frequent stole
To aid the pair to journey deep in winter time her goal.

And every time her heart did beat a louder pounding thrum
Her ears were red and breath was quick each sound like blaring drum.
For woman knew the risk she took if ever caught in act
Such thing she dreaded great in heart but still she's drove to act

For love of people all about who long had greatly hurt
Yet during time of high travail she proved her subtle worth.
So things were, the man and maid were force to switch their normal tact
As neither one for part their raised is bidden well to act.

The warrior waits and peasant risks to bring about their goal
And both the other's part is bid to take upon as role.
But days do come and go and turn to many passing moons
And winter falls and hides the world inside it's freezing gloom.

While warrior's form regains the strength it once had former held
By resting deep and never leaving home in which they dwelled.
They know his skills do slightly fade from lack or practice due
But during times of crises even rusty blades behoove.

They pack their bags and ready selves to flee in midst of night
As both do know to go in day does risk the wizard's spite.
Before the open door the maid does turn and sudden speak
To bid the man to journey well and challenge great to meet.

"We go for time from home and folk I'm give
To journey high on quest that conscience gives
At least to maid, for man does do this thing
For sake of honor act on head will bring.

Until your death from day of very birth
Your bid to act and prove your warring worth.
Yet know no threat or dread will turn my feet
From course I've set or act of which I speak.

My motives better fit than one's you hold
Though low you sure may think of peasant's goal
So turn nor turn not maid from thing I seek
I'll find a way to reach that realm we seek."

The warrior dared not speak but merely nodded slow his head
No one except a warring man could know for what he bled
Or way that code of ancient fame could drive him far to doom
Though thing might bid him seek yet well his early given tomb...
