Chapter 9: Family Ties
"Josh," Emilee asked. "How did you evolve so fast? It took Kilian 6 hours to evolve, and it took me 4 1/2 hours!" "What do I look like, Emilee? I have no idea!" "Well, we don't know either, Josh! Come on out, let's see what you look like!" "Ok, but don't laugh!" He came out of the tent, and we see an awesome sight. The Pineco we once knew now has steel armor, spouts for spewing poison and spikes, and can float.
"So, how ridiculous does it look?" We thought about it for a bit. "What term would you use for looking not even slightly ridiculous? Because that's what it is," I told him. "Wait, really? Is it really that cool?"
"Yeah, Josh," said Emilee. "Hang on." Emilee then lifted her mirror from her room and moved it in front of Josh. "That's what you look like!" Josh responded, "Well 1, that telekinesis seems useful, and 2, I look awesome!"
Then, we heard an unfamiliar voice. "Yes, Joshua, you do look pretty cool," it said. We turned around and saw a sight I never thought I would see. A Volcarona, with 6 wings suspending it, burning with beauty and covered in that sort of fur stuff that bugs have. I turned to Josh.
"Josh, is that your mom?" "Yes, my mom is a Volcarona, named Kylee. She met my dad when he was fighting her in Relic Castle in the Unova Region. His trainer, Alder, caught her and later released them when he gave up battling in the Pokémon League. They then moved here and adopted me when they found my egg under a tree."
"Ok, but who's your dad and where is he? And, what's that," I asked, looking up. Mom was flying over us, but jumping off of her was a steel ball, carrying red and white striped lances, and aiming straight for Josh. "Josh, use Protect," I said. He did so right before the ball struck, and when it struck, it kept trying to stab Josh.
"That's enough, Arthur, he was told to use Protect." The ball ceased its attack, jumped next to Kylee, and opened up to reveal that Josh's dad was an Escavalier. "Josh, why did you do that? You have Sturdy, you can take it!"
"Sorry dad, Kilian told me to, and he's a really good battler, so I trusted him in knowing when something was wrong." "Well, you were right in trusting him! I was going to hit you with everything I had, and I was falling off of a high speed flying dragon! If you didn't have Sturdy or use Protect, you might have died!" Then, Mom landed in the backyard with Ted, Obsi, Carcha, a Raichu, a Blissey, a Hydreigon, and a Druddigon on her back.
Right when they landed, Ted was hugging me before I even knew what was happening, a testament to his speed as a Garchomp. "Oh, Kilian, I was so worried about you! Taking down a Gengar is a tough feat, even for a team of 7!" "Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold the phone, when would you ever act like that?" "Between you and me, your mother is making me do this," he whispered to me.
He put me down, and Obsi and Carcha ran up to me, saying something along the lines of, "Kilian, Kilian! You're okay! We heard that you took down a really strong person! Is that purple cat Emilee? She's pretty! Hey, who are they," they said, before running over to meet and play with Emilee's siblings.
"Looks like your siblings have some new friends," Emilee whispered to me. "Only if they go 5 minutes without biting or headbutting any part of them," I told her back. I went over to greet the new arrivals. I first greeted the Blissey. "Hi there! I'm Kilian, and I imagine you must be Haylee's mom."
"Yes I am, I am Ms. Blissey, but you can call me Tiffany. My husband over there is Haylee's father, Mr. Raichu, but you may call him Rick. So tell me, why did Haylee start evolving?" I looked over to the tent and saw a movement, and said, "I think you might want to ask her. Come on out!"
That's when I wished I checked on who it was, because Joey came out of the tent, with an extra head. I quickly said, "Sorry, ma'am, that's not Haylee, she must be taking longer to evolve than the others." I went over to greet Joey and his family. "Hey, Joey! How you doing? In my opinion, you look like you're a bit beside yourself."
"Oh, ha ha, Kilian. Very funny," he said. I turned to the Hydreigon and said, "Hi there, I'm Kilian. I'm your son's friend and EV Training partner.
"I know, he's talked a lot about you. I'm his mother, Harriet Hydreigon. I heard about what you did to that Gengar, and all I have to say is, good work. Gengars are tough opponents. I also heard about how you saved Emilee from that counter and from the Gengar. You must really care about her."
"Of course he does," said Joey's dad. "She's the only one who could love a shell of a dragon like that!" "Dad, stop! Sorry, Kilian, my dad likes to give my friends a hard time." "No, no, let me handle this."
I walked up to his dad and say, "If I'm the shell of a dragon, you're the Rough Skin of a dragon. No, I take it back, that would be tougher than you are." "Oh, a wise guy are you? Well it's too bad that shell of yours doesn't make your skin any thicker." "Well it's too bad that your insults don't have any Sheer Force!"
"Sorry to break the mold here, but your abilities don't have any effect against me!" "I've seen Unown with more Moxie!" "At least I'm not green with envy at the insults I'm spitting!" "Oh, like the hot Fire Blast you're not spitting?" We paused for a bit, and then we just start laughing.
"I like you," Joey's dad said. "I'm Nathaniel, but you can call me Nate!" "Nice to meet you, Nate! I see you like to make jokes."
"Kilian, stop," Joey said. "You're embarrassing me!" "Joey? Are you feeling alright? I don't remember you ever acting like this!"
"Don't worry, Kilian," Harriet said. "Zweilous have the worst case of bipolar disorder in recorded history. It will dissolve when he evolves into a Hydreigon." I looked over to the tent and saw another movement from inside the tent. "Excuse me everyone! I think that Haylee is finally ready to come out! I'll go check!"
I went over to the tent and sure enough, Haylee was sitting on the blanket we put out. "Is it safe to come out," she said. "Is there anything that's going to hurt me?" "Well, your mom and dad might hurt you by hugging you for a copious amount of time, but other then that, the backyard's fine!" "Okay, I trust you. Let's go show everyone my new form."
We got out of the tent and walked up to Haylee's parents. "Here she is," I said. "This is Haylee!" "Hi mom, hi dad. How do I look?"
"You look great, honey! I'm so glad you're alright," said Tiffany. "Yes, quite relieved," said Rick, Haylee's dad. "Haylee, if I may ask you, what happened before you evolved?" "Well, I visited Emilee, tried to stop a Gengar, did stop the Gengar with a Super Hyper Beam, and saw a rainbow-colored bird above that hole in the roof of the falls."
"Ah, you saw a Ho-Oh. That would explain the evolution." "Excuse me sir, how would that explain the evolution," I said. "Here, look at this section on Ho-Oh," he said as he pulled out a Pokédex.
It said, 'Ho-Oh: The Rainbow Pokémon. A legendary bird originating from the Johto Region. It is said that those who see it are guaranteed eternal happiness.' "Now, Kilian, considering that Pichu evolve by happiness, and that the entry is uncertain about the validity of the legend, would you like to make the statement correct?" "Sure. I'd love to." I took the Pokédex, went to the Ho-Oh entry, and removed, "It is said that" from the entry.
