Chapter 26: Sorrow and Sacrifice
(Meanwhile, on Route 108)
"This fight is ours, men! Push forward!", Beatrice said. Group A had been devastating, suffering few casualties, while cutting deep swathes of Gary's Army away from him. "Bea, we've got a situation!", Abigail told her. Beatrice looked towards the end of the route. She saw a masked figure, with blue hair, a black dress, and an open red triangle in her chest. "Well, look who's back. Raven Gardevoir." Raven launched an attack, an explosion that rocked their battalion. "Fire! Fire at will!"
Raven was hammered by attacks, only to be protected by a wall of Light Screens and Reflects. Raven cut down Group A with little effort, so they ordered a retreat. However, before they could retreat, it happened. Abigail became encircled by bits of debris, all floating around her. Abigail was trapped by a Psyshock. Abigail barely had time to say her goodbyes before it happened. The bits crashed into Abigail's body, causing her immense pain. When the attack was finished, Abigail had lacerations across her entire body, and Abigail fell to the ground, dead.
"No! Abigail!", Beatrice said, feeling sadness well up in her. But, when she remembered what happened at that dance 6 months ago, her sadness was immediately replaced by anger. "YOU! You've killed my two best friends! And if I'm going to die to you, I'm going to do it on my terms!" Beatrice ran through the barricade, stick in hand, and fought Raven up close.
Raven was panicking, as she had no idea that she would have to fight up close today. Beatrice was fighting by punching and slamming her stick into Raven like a sword, a small burst of fire coming out of it every time, before ending her strings with a kick of some sort. Raven knew that she couldn't keep pressure, and Beatrice knew she couldn't get hit by any of her powerful attacks. But it all ended when Raven screamed as loud as she could, causing her opponent to stop and cover her ears, now ringing. Thanks to that Hyper Voice, Raven was able to take a step back and charge up and launch a Focus Blast.
Beatrice saw it coming, but also saw the state Raven was in, almost broken from her damage. She could only smile, before saying "It is finished, my work here is done. Abi, Livia, I'll see you soon." She watched the blast charge, fly towards me, and drive her into the wall of Meteor Falls, before the attack took her life.
(Beatrice's POV)
I awoke in a strange space of almost pure white. Upon looking around, I saw some figures looking at me, one of them being Arceus. "Beatrice, hello.", Arceus said. "Arceus, hello to you." "Bea? Is that you?" I turned around and saw a Samurott staring at me, and I knew instantly who it was. "Olivia, it's you!" I ran up and embraced her. "Bea, you're finally here! I've missed you so much!"
"Now, now, don't get too excited. There is still your judgement." "Wait, what?" "I will have other Pokémon come and testify against or for you, and use that to see if you can truly stay here. I felt the color flush from my face, as I knew that the only ones who would speak good about me were my friends, and for a bit, it seemed that way. Abi and Livia said good things, while Elijah and Bode said bad things. The only one left was Logan.
"Now, I was a part of the Homeregion Heroes when I was alive, and as my friends said, Beatrice was what you would call a bully." I started to hang my head, as I thought I knew where his testimony was going. "However, I'm giving her a +1, and for one reason: she gave the Homeregion Heroes a purpose! If Bea hadn't formed and expanded her gang, our gang wouldn't have any reason to exist! I had a group to belong to in my final years, and it's all because of that Delphox right there. So I say, let her in!"
"The trial is complete! I shall now tally the results! Judgement!" A powerful aura surrounded Arceus, before releasing and surrounding me. I could feel the aura make me heavier, and I started sinking into the ground. I continued to sink until I was buried up to my chest, when I stopped. "Your soul has a heavy weight, but your friend's testimony saved you. Welcome to the Hall of Origin." I pulled myself out of the ground, only to be hugged by both Olivia and Abigail at the same time. Logan approached us, and I walked up to him.
"Hey, I see that you also fell in the defense.", I said to him. "Yeah, but I at least went down fighting, like I assume you did.", He said back. "Thanks for helping me back there." "No problem. You helped me in a past life, so I will help you in this one." "Well, all I can say is, thanks." "Well, actions speak louder than words." He tried to hug me, but I pushed him away. "Oh, I'm sorry. I just thought that was the action you wanted me to take." "No, no, I just didn't expect it." "Well, do you still want to do it?" "Sure, why not?" He approached me again, arms outstretched, and I did so as well. We melted into each other's embrace, strange warmth flowing between us. "To think, that I could love a Water-Type.", I said. "To think that I could love a Fire-type.", he said back. We released each other, and held each other's hand, ready to start a new life, in the Hall of Origin.
(Kilian's POV)
"Okay, strategy. Quick Attack before he can Perish Song, then Earthquake, and then Double-Edge! I should be able to do that!", I said to myself. "Kilian! Kilian! We're in trouble!", Ellie told me. "Ellie? Where's your group! What are you carrying?" "Group B is holding off the remnants at the entrance. We've set up a blockade and put anyone with projectiles behind them. And what I'm holding, is Elijah." She set Elijah's body on the ground in front of me.
"Oh my god, what happened?" "Elijah was able to kill one of the commanders, who happened to be his brother, by charging through him with U-Turn, but when he got behind his brother, Gary slammed him into his brother's tail, which had poison on it. I tried to get him back here to Emilee, but he wouldn't let me, saying that he's seen enough in his life and giving me a small speech about love before dying." "Ellie, I'm so sorry. That must be horrible." "Yeah, but we don't have time for grievances right now! I need to support Group A!"
Just then, Haylee came running towards us, using Volt Tackle to increase her speed. "Group A has fallen! Route 108 is lost!" "Arceus above, who could have done this?", Ellie asked. "From what I saw, a masked Pokémon with blue hair and a black dress." "Raven. She fell into darkness. Ellie, go back and support Group B, Haylee, tell Keeton he has a job to do." She nodded and Volt-Dashed away. "My fight is coming soon, and I'll be ready. Just you wait, Gary. Today, you will be purged from this world!"
(Keeton's POV)
"Keeton! I have bad news!", Haylee said running up to me. "Haylee? What's up?" "It's Group A, they've been defeated!" "They're dead? Who did this?" Haylee had a weird look on her face. "Haylee. Who did this?" "A black Pokémon with an open red shape in their chest. And blue hair." "Raven. No, how could she?" I hung my head low. "This will be the last time we meet. Why must you do this, Arceus?" "Keeton, we need to go. It's time to end this!" "Ok, let's go." We ran over to the Route 108 exit, and saw Raven, with a small group of Klefki.
"So, you truly did fall to evil! After all you promised us!", I yelled to my sister. Raven looked at me. "Oh, hello, brother. I see you've found your own Mega Evolution." "Yeah, except I don't use it for evil!" I launched a Psycho Cut at her, but a Klefki blocked it with a Reflect. "Just as predictable as ever, Keeton. I bet you're now going come down and Brick Break that Reflect." "Back up, Haylee." I slid down the slope to her location, but instead of doing what she said, I started punching the wall, causing an Earthquake. The Klefki battalion fainted from the force, and I was able to Brick Break the Reflect without it coming back.
"Well, I'm surprised! You learned to do something new! How charming!" "That's it, Raven. I've made it my job to protect you from evil, so now I'm going to protect you. Protect you from yourself!" I ran towards her, charging up an Ice Punch, while she tried to use Hyper Voice. I punched her in the face, stopping her attack. She threw me away, and I went in for more. I slashed her with my arms while she hit me with her open palms, explosion of energy coming out with every connection. I would force her away with Close Combat, and she would force me away with Focus Blast.
The battle was long and grueling, and in the end, she knew that she wouldn't be able to beat me normally, with my high Special Defense, so she used an underhanded tactic. She swept my legs out from under me, pinned me, and ripped off my Mega Necklace. But before she did, I cut off the pendent of her necklace. We roared in pain, and our transformations started reversing. Her heart sealed back up, her ears shrunk, her dress got shorter and went back to white, and her arms went back to blue, as my cape shrunk back into my arms, my arms went back to their normal form, and my plume shrunk down to size.
"No! You didn't!" "Oh, dear sister, not I didn't, but we didn't. We both removed each other's Mega Stones, but maybe your evil tendencies have blinded you. And I know how I can bring you back to the light." My hand started glowing, and I plunged it into her stomach cavity. I searched her being, and found a small part of the good left in her. I dragged that part out, and shrunk the evil in her. My sister was back, and I couldn't be happier.
"Keeton? Is that you?" "Yes, my sister, it is me." "How long has it been since I left?" "It's been 6 months, and you've become an agent of evil." I could feel the evil in her soul slowly coming back. "We don't have much time left. I can feel the evil coming back." I started crying, as I didn't want my sister to be gone.
"Keeton, listen to me. I could feel the battle we had, and that was the greatest battle I was ever involved in." "R-really? Is that true?" "Yes, it is, and whoever you adventure with or marry, I know that you'll make them happy." The evil had taken back half of my sister. "Promise me Keeton, promise me that you'll stay true to your heart, and when you have children, tell them of their Aunt Raven. Goodbye, my brother."
The evil had gotten back to where it was, but now had annexed the small good Raven had kept in her. "Raven? Are you still in there?" "Yes, but if you don't get off me, you won't be here." I removed my hand from her. She was truly gone. "I'm sorry Raven, but I must save you from yourself." I held my blade to her throat. "Keeton? Why are you doing this?" "To keep you from being evil any longer! You can't be redeemed in this world, so I will help you be redeemed in another! Goodbye, Raven."
I slammed my blade on her neck, lopping her head off. As I was doing so, I heard one last sentence from my sister. "Thank you, Keeton. May we meet again in another world." Staring at her body, I felt my rage explode. "RAUGHHHHHHHH! WHY ARCEUS, WHY?"
(Raven's POV)
I woke up in a land, a land of pure white. Arceus was standing over me. "Raven Gardevoir, you're finally here. Welcome to the Hall of Origin." "Is this the afterlife?" "Yes, you have been brought here for a trial, to see if you have done enough good in your life to earn life eternal. While you were asleep, we were able to banish the evil from you, and your soul is back to the way it was before any of Gary's interference. Let the trial begin!"
After 30 minutes, there was only one person left. A Gallade, but not Keeton, as he was the standard green instead of blue. "Speak your name and your relation to the defendant.", Arceus said. "My name is Daniel Gallade, and I am Raven's long lost brother. I died within a few weeks of my hatching, and never got to know my sister and brother. Now that one of them are here, I implore you, Arceus, to let her stay. I never got to know her before, but I would like to know her on this world. I say, let her stay here."
"The trial is complete! We shall now know the results! Judgement!" A strong aura began emanating from Arceus, which was then transferred to me. The Aura lifted me up, suspending me in the air, before dropping me down. "Your soul is truly pure. Welcome to the Hall of Origin!" I approached Daniel. "So, what's it like here?" "Well, it's like the normal world. We battle, we trade, we have relationships, the usual." "So, do you ever wish that you didn't die within weeks of your birth?" He slapped me across the face. "Yes, I do! I never got to see anything! I never even evolved once!", he said, tears flowing from his eyes. "Hey, it's okay, anything that you want to know about the world, we can all teach you, especially Elijah." "Th-thanks Raven." We shared our first hug, and I began to teach him about the world below.
