Chapter 14: Scouting Battles
They walked out onto the rocky fields of Route 114, the afternoon Hoenn sun beating down on them. "Man, is it always this hot out here," I asked. "No, it's not. It must be a Sunny Day in effect," grandpa said. "Come on, let's get to Madame Munna's quickly. This heat is sweltering," said Emilee.
They walked on past the hills and to a pink and flower patterned tent on a lakebed. "This is the spot. Madame Munna's Tent of Truth. I can't go in, but tell her I said hi." "Ok, we will. Thanks, grandpa."
Emilee and I went inside, and found Madame Munna, meditating. We sat down in front of her table.
"Ah, Kilian and Emilee. You finally arrive." "Yes, Madame Munna. I think you know why we are here," I said.
"Of course, of course. You, Kilian, want me to tell you of your subconscious restraints, and maybe even help you remove them for your fight with Gary Gengar. And you, Emilee, would like me to teach you my methods. How to read into one's subconscious and destroy any restraints on their power, so that you, Kilian, and your friends don't die in the siege of Meteor Falls." "Yes, that's correct," Emilee said.
"Can you help us," I asked. "This I can do. Kilian, turn around and let all your tension out. All the stress of your ancestry, your rare attributes, and your problems in between." I turned around and tried taking deep breaths.
I tried to relieve the stress of my heritage, my greater purpose, my fight with Gary, and everything else, and at one point, I felt completely calm. I really couldn't think about any of it, and it stayed that way for a while. When I could think about those things again, they felt like the very last thought in my mind. "Your subconscious barriers number many, suggesting that they were not put there by you. I was able to remove many of the weaker ones. You may notice a small boost in power."
"Thank you, Madame Munna." "I have also taught you the art of the Mean Look. This will help you weaken Gary." "I appreciate it, thanks. Also, Morry says hello," I said as I left the tent.
"Well, how did it go," my grandfather asked. "Good, she said that she broke some of my barriers, but also said that my barriers were too numerous to be put in by me alone. Maybe someone, or something, put those barriers there." "Well, you never know. Say, where's Emilee?"
"Madame Munna is teaching her how to use her powers." "So, they went to see Madame Munna. This, I need to remember," Elijah said in the distance. "Gary will want to hear about the traitor to his army." Just then, Emilee came out of the tent.
"So, how'd it go?" "Pretty good, I feel. She said that my power was only beginning to be tapped, and that I should come every other day to learn how to use my powers from her." "Cool! That seems exciting," I said.
"Did she lower any barriers for you?" "Only one, and that allows me to read a Pokémon's presence from a further distance than before. For instance, I can tell that there's a Feebas splashing in the water behind us." We looked back towards the lake. Sure enough, there was a Feebas silently splashing around in the distance.
"That far? That's definitely useful!" We started walking back towards the entrance to Meteor Falls. Then, Emilee stopped. She looked towards some unsuspecting rocks.
"Emilee, what's wrong," grandpa asked. Someone's spying on us. A Ninjask, scouting our location for...Gary's army!" "Crap, I've been found! I gotta retreat!"
He tried to run away, but using Mean Look, I prevented his escape. "Wait, where's the Salamence? Did he have to grab his medication?" "No, I just had to get you back down to Earth!"
The Ninjask looked up and saw grandpa flying towards him, his tail outstretched. He used Dragon Tail on the Ninjask, and he was sent crashing into the ground. "Ow, that smarts! Guess I have to beat them now!" He burst towards Emilee.
"X-Scissor," he yelled, slashing Emilee with his claws. The super effective attack hit it's mark, leaving a gash in Emilee's side. "Emilee," I yelled. "I'll get her to safety. You finish the fight!"
"You'll pay for what you did to Emilee!" "Bring it on, shelly boy!" I charged at him, but while doing so, he tried to use X-Scissor on me, the attack bouncing off of my shell. "One thing about us shelly boys, is that we know how to take a hit! And we can give one! Dragonbreath!"
The viscous, purple gas surrounded him, damaging and slowing him. "Now I've got you! Dragon Rush!" I jumped into the air and crashed down onto the Ninjask. He fainted under the weight of my attack.
"It is finished. I have won." I slung the Ninjask over my back, to take him to questioning. "Grandpa? Emilee? Where are you?"
"Kilian! Over here," I heard grandpa yell. I looked in the direction of his voice and saw him in the cratered area. I ran over there to tell him the results of the fight, and to check on Emilee's condition.
