I shivered against the pain and coughed up blood into my napkin.
The Awakening was a few hours away, but thought the days, Alvad and Callen had managed to recruit more fighters and spell casters. Our numbers were obviously inferior to that of the Devildom and Celestial Realm, but hopefully by midnight I would finally be able to call out the army we needed to raid into a nearby town known as, Longton. There were several times me and Callen had walked through it, and sensed the many vengeful spirits that had been able to successfully feed on corrupt human souls. The streets were a mess with the scents of alcohol, smoke, and pollution filling every corner and house. People here, according to Alvad, have been forgotten by the world and left to waste themselves for eternity, due to their lack of moral principles. The healthcare there was surprisingly high, and probably the reason most of the town's citizens have been able to survive despite the trend of having an overdose in clubbing, drinking, and sex.
Of course, they were the first on my list to meet their judgment.

"Ow . . . Yuna!" a familiar, black-haired demon approached me, looking quite pleased with himself , yet something about his aura seemed different.
"You seem . . . different today," satisfied with my response, a grin bloomed over his lips, as he popped open a bottle of red wine and poured the glamorous liquid into two glass goblets, before handing me one. "Indeed m'lady, I had that old town wiped clean of all its sinners."
He loomed over me with that usual; smug smile on his face, before clicking our glasses together, and pulled away to chug down his drink in one large gulp. "Their souls screamed endlessly, asking for forgiveness, but they were too blemished to be fixed anyway," he took a deep satisfied breath and cupped my cheeks with his slightly bloodstained hands. "Are you proud of me Yuna?"
"You acted against my orders, that town was mean to be raided the moment my magic finally awakened, but you couldn't hold back your hunger," I spoke, no emotion visible on my features as I stood up from the throne, and took his hand in mine. "Know where your loyalty lies."
As if reacting to my words, a bright light enveloped his hand, and only vanished to reveal a small, black magic circle orienting the back of it. "This is. . ." He words melted into the humid air as I let him go and set my cup of wine aside.
". . . Tonight is a sacred night, and I want you to make sure the demons do not intrude on this occasion. " Alvad's breath stiffened as I spoke. " Is that clear? If you disobey my commands again, the punishment will be settled in a fair manner."
I pointed swiftly at the curse mark I had left on him with no emotion crossing my face, before staring off at the windows and what lied beyond them. "Alvad," I called out to him in a solid and firm tone.
His name felt foreign on my tongue, but never the less it was not that important anyway. " Keep an eye out for Diavolo and Barbatos mostly, and if you run into . . . Satan try immobilizing him. The last thing I need is him being here to witness or take part in this."
The demon still fascinated by his new curse, nodded in a daze, before a knock echoed in the room. "Lady Yuna, I have located a nearby area perfect for the awakening ceremony, and also found the sacred robes for such an event in on of the shrine's storage rooms ," I heard Callen announce in a calm manner from behind closed doors.
Sparing Alvad one last glance, I called out faintly to Callen, " Come in."
The doors slowly opened, and in came the tanned warrior, with a heap of silk robes in his hands. "Lady Yuna, we should be heading out soon. I assume your conversation with Sir Alvad is over?" he asked, sparing the demon a quick dirty look.
"Not yet Callen, do not worry, I will be with you in a short while, please do wait at the shrine's entrance," the warrior did not seemed pleased by my formal way of addressing him, but despite that left without any complaint .
"As you wish your highness," with that he was gone, leaving me and Alvad in a pit of deafening silence.
"You were driven mad by the thirst for vengeance over your mother's death, am I right?" I quizzically asked, taking hold of his chin, and tilting his head up to meet my gaze. "After all is done, I will grant your wish, but I cannot assure you it will be as pleasing as you imagine."
The demon's sun-like eyes seemed to have all emotion sucked out of them as he stared at me with hands taking hold of my waist and pulling me closer. "That is if we survive the battle of the night, so until then . . ." His lips gently fell over mine, the moment lasting for a minute or so, before he pulled away," . . . M'lady, I shall serve you to the very end."
I cupped his cheek with one hand and brushed my thumb over the scar I had left running over his pale features. His figure slowly withered into the shadows, and his aura's presence hung in the air for a while, before vanishing. I clutched my collar in frustration and felt the snake hisses slipping into my ears again.
"Until we meet again."
