Audrey's POV
Propping my feet up on the railing on Morgan's back deck, I let myself relax, enjoying the peacefulness that the night brings.
Instead of going out, we all decided just to go back to Morgan's house for the night. We realized not long after we left his parents' house that a large crowd with Morgan Wallen in downtown Nashville might bring attention, and the last thing I needed right now was to add more fuel to the fire if I was seen out with Morgan without Austin or Beck anywhere nearby.
"You okay?" Morgan asks, handing me a glass from his hand.
I take a long sip of the drink, before setting it down next to Morgan's.
"It's so peaceful out here, I love the silence. This is the first time I've actually been able to turn my brain off for a little while, and I needed it more than you realize" I respond.
Morgan nods, "anything you need to get off your chest?" he asks.
"I don't want to bore you with my drama, thank you though" I respond.
"Well, if you need someone to talk to, just know I'm always here for you too. I might just be Beck's dad, but you're still his mom, which makes you important to me as well" Morgan tells me.
"Thank you for that" I say.
Before anything else can be said the door to the house opens up as Morgan's sisters step out, laughing between the two of them.
Morgan's POV
Hearing the front door open the next morning, I look up from my spot on the couch to see Beckett and my mama walking into the house quietly, smiles on both of their faces.
"What are you guys doing here so early?" I ask mama.
She lets out a laugh, before closing the door behind her quietly.
"It's almost noon son, besides you and little man here have plans, and I have plans with the girls today" mama responds.
I look from her, towards the sleeping brunette laying beside me on the sofa.
Last night, we all spent too much time outside talking, drinking, and just enjoying each other's company. Halfway through the night, Audrey ended up letting loose and just relaxing.
Clearly whatever happened back at home had been weighing on her, and she needed a break more than I realized. We all ended up piling into the living room drunk as could be, where we all just ended up passing out at some point.
I guess Audrey just ended up passing out with me.
"Give me a bit to get them all up. How was he last night?" I ask her, giving Beckett a smile.
"Oh it was the cutest thing Morgan. They all fell asleep in the living room watching a movie, he was so happy. She's done great with him" mom responds.
"Yeah, she has" I say.
45 minutes later, I've got all of the girls awake and almost ready to go with mom for their day out.
"You feeling okay?" I ask Audrey, seeing her leaning against the counter nearby holding her head.
"Yeah, just tired. Sorry about falling asleep on you last night like that" Audrey apologies, a small smile on her face.
"No big deal, I'm just glad you had a good night. It seemed like you needed it" I say.
Audrey scoffs, pushing her buzzing phone away from her, letting it ring. "Oh, you have no idea" she responds.
"Everything okay there?" I ask her, noticing that Austin is calling her back-to-back.
"Just peachy. Make sure Beck takes a nap in a few hours, and please for the love of God, don't get him hyped up on sugar. If you do it, you're staying up with him all night" Audrey tells me, narrowing her eyes in my direction.
"You got it" I tell her, giving her a small smile.
I watch as everyone gives Beck a hug, before ushering out the door towards my moms SUV. Audrey looks back at Beck and I, a smile on her face before she gets into the passenger seat.
As soon as the car pulls out of the driveway, I look down at Beck.
"Ice cream?" I ask him.
"Mom said no sugar" Beck responds.
"Yeah well, dad's in charge today" I respond.
Beck smiles, before running inside towards the kitchen.
A few hours later, Beck is sitting on the floor playing with his toys when the front door opens, Audrey's laugh flowing through the house.
I look over in her direction as she walks through the doorway. She looks less stressed, relaxed, happy even.
"You guys have fun?" I ask her.
Audrey nods, kissing the top of Beck's head before sitting on the couch next to me.
"You have no idea how much I needed to just step back and relax" she responds, leaning her head back on the couch.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it" I say.
"You guys are leaving tomorrow, right?" I ask her.
Audrey nods, rolling her head in my direction. "That's the plan. Beck has to get back to school and baseball, and I need to get back to work" she responds.
"Well as of right now the whole crew plans to come down for Beck's game next weekend if that's okay with you. Everyone wants to see him play" I tell her.
"That's fine. There's more than enough room for everyone to come stay at the house, it'll be easier that way anyways. Plus, we still have an empty coaching slot if you want to step in" Audrey tells me.
"I'll definitely take the coaching spot. As for staying at the house, isn't that something you should talk over with Austin first?" I ask.
Audrey shakes her head, "He never lived at the house. Besides, he is no longer in our lives. So he get's no say in what happens at my house and what doesn't" She responds.
And now it all makes sense.
The sadness when she first came up, the constant phone calls from him. Everything falls into place with that one little sentence.
"And no, you don't have to say you're sorry or anything like that. It's what was best for Beck and I, and that is how it is" Audrey adds.
"Well, if you need me to come down early, or if he tries to sir up some shit let me know and I'll be headed down" I tell her.
Audrey smiles, "thank you for being there for the both of us" she says.
"Wouldn't want to be anywhere else" I respond.
And it's true.
I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Beckett and Audrey have quickly become such a huge part of my life, and I can only hope that grows from here.
