Take a Dip

Days passed since Mark last died. And at last, the pair was out of hell- school.

The summer break had finally arrived and the pair was thrilled. They'd get to spend more time together doing whatever they wanted to.

It could be playing basketball, singing karaoke, or just spending time with each other. They would just enjoy the moments they shared together.

Today the duo was going to the beach. It was scalding hot outside and the pair needed to cool off. And they really didn't feel like going to a public pool, because let's face it- those are gross.

So here they were on a bus heading to the beach. Mark was wearing a big goofy floppy hat, because Donghyuck had insisted that floppy hats were necessary for the beach.

Mark hadn't complained and just went with it. The younger was so excited, the boy didn't want to accidentally put a damper on the activity.

Both Mark and Donghyuck hadn't been to the beach in ages so this was a welcome treat. Nobody batted an eye at all the stuff that the boys had.

However, Mark knew they were silently judging Donghyuck's overpacked bags. It was like the boy was going on a camping trip for a week instead of to the beach for an afternoon.

Mark leaned his head against the cool glass window of the bus. He moved slowly so he wouldn't disturb the sleeping Donghyuck.

The latter had his head on Mark's shoulder and was snoring softly. His hair was disheveled but Mark lov- liked the look on him. It was cute.

However, whenever Donghyuck did something like this something seemed to flutter in Mark's chest. His cheeks heating up and turning rosy.

But for the life of him he couldn't figure out why he was like that.

And it was driving him insane.

He couldn't figure out this feeling. It was like happiness- but stronger. Something that made him up want to protect Donghyuck at all costs.

The bus slowly rolled to a stop and as the door opened, the ocean scent hit Mark. He breathed in deeply and smiled. He forgot what the ocean smelled like.

He turned to the boy next to him and softly shook him awake. Donghyuck groaned as his eyes fluttered open. He blearily blinked before rubbing his eyes.

"Are we there yet?"

Mark chuckled, standing to his feet and offering his had to the boy. "Yeah, we're here. Let's have some fun!"

Donghyuck smiled, nodding. He grabbed the multiple bags that were resting at his feet, and stood up.

The pair of boys made their way to the front of the bus before exiting.

The sun shone in their eyes, causing them to shield them with their hands- er bags. It was a beautiful day outside for swimming.

They headed for the shore, looking for an umbrella to put their stuff under. Donghyuck found a spot waving to Mark excitedly.

Donghyuck and Mark both dropped off their stuff before changing into their swimwear. They applied sunscreen and were finally ready to jump into the water.

"Hey Mark!" Donghyuck shouted. Surprised the boy turned to Donghyuck and was immediately sprayed with a water gun.

Mark sputtered, stumbling backwards. His dripping hair covered his eyes, preventing him to see. His foot hit something and the Mark tumbled over.

Donghyuck laughed as Mark stood up, his hands clearing the hair from his eyes.

A playful smirk appeared on Mark's face as he raced towards a water gun. Grabbing the weapon, he sprayed Donghyuck back.

Donghyuck let out a squeal and started running towards the ocean gleefully.

They started a full on water gun war. That is, if you can count it a war with only two people.

The pair got drenched, water droplets gracefully flying everywhere. The ocean drawing the two unsuspecting boys out further and further away from the shoreline.

Water may seem like it can bend to man's touch, but when left unrestrained dangers lurk underneath the surface.

The pull of the tide can change in a split second.

"SHARK!"

The boys heads snapped up at the frantic call. Beneath Mark and Donghyuck's treading feet was a large dark shadow.

"Shoot." Mark hissed, mentally cursing himself for not noticing how far away from the shore they were.

His brown eyes locked onto Donghyuck's frantic ones.

Mark's voice came out surprisingly calm, "Just slowly start swimming. Sharks don't usually attack people for food."

The boys slowly treaded away from the animal. The shark started turning and rising to the surface. In defense, Donghyuck threw the water gun he had at the shark.

They knew they messed up as the heard the shark growl. Synchronized, the boys started frantically swimming to the shore.

With one flick of a tail, the shark caught up with them and was heading straight to Donghyuck.

With great difficulty, Mark changed his course from the shore to Donghyuck.

White teeth closed around a body, and crimson blood leaked out of Mark.
