Chapter 3
I was discharged from the hospital a few days later I was thankful to be out of there but at the same time nervous because I had nowhere to go. They gave me my purse that was supposedly on me at the time of the accident. Once I got outside I opened it up and looked through it I found a white card which gave me my bank details.
Apparently I was with the American Heritage Bank. I put it back into the little slot and continued rummaging through the rest of my purse I found $50 and if I was right then this is like equivalent to $100 in 2015. Maybe I was rich? Apart from the money and my bank card I had nothing else except a driving license.
My name was on it so how did the hospital not know who I was? Obviously they didn't look hard enough.
I started walking along the foot path littered with old gum that people had thrown away and a few other questionable marks. The streets were somewhat quiet only a few people walking around it but it was a Tuesday so most people would either be at school or work I suppose.
The sun was shining down on my hair and it was a moderately warm day for the end of March. There were only a few clouds in the sky but apart from that the sky was a bright blue.
Tulsa was not how I imagined it to be after all I have lived in San Francisco my entire life I knew nothing about it except for what I had seen in the outsiders. It was a lot flasher than I thought.
After a few more minutes of walking I saw the American Heritage bank that according the little white card in my purse was my bank.
I walked inside and it was an interesting interior with dark cream coloured walls and wood framing all the windows that were on the inside.
The tiles were a marble mix of different shades of brown. All furniture was made of wood or had wood accents it felt very rustic but not very 80's but all I knew of 80's interior was from the movies I had seen.
"Can I help you?" a feminine voice called.
I looked over to the dark brown wooden desk situated to the right of the room. A brunette woman who looked to be in her mid 40's by the slight winkles around her brown eyes and thin lips.
"Yes I was just wondering if I could inquire into my the amount that was into my account." She smiled and gestured to the seat. "Sure do you have your bank card with you?" by that I was assuming she meant the little white card that I had found earlier.
I opened my purse and pulled it out of its little black slot. I then closed my black leather purse and handed it over to her. "Thankyou." She murmured and then entered some details into a computer which looked ancient to me because I was used to laptops and flat screens but it was sort of interesting to see someone use one of these.
"Well Autumn it says here you have recently just inherited $200,000. So your balance no is $200,500." I sat there with my mouth agape how did I get $200,000?
"Do you happen to know where that money came from?" I ask quietly and slowly. She types something quickly into the computer and then shakes her head looking confused "no it just says here from an anonymous source. Would you happen to have any idea?" I shake my head and try to think but it was no use I came here from 2015 and even there I knew no one but my parents with that kind of money.
............
I left the bank startled at the news that I had $200,550 to my name. I realised that I needed to find somewhere to stay for a while I found a hotel nearby which seemed to be pretty popular there were cars everywhere in the parking lot.
I wondered into the hotel lobby it was really stylish. I walked slowly up to the front desk made of a light coloured wood. I was admiring the interior design of this place. However I wasn't watching where I was going and bumped into the person in front of me.
"Oh my god! I am so sorry I wasn't watching where I was going." I looked up at the person I had bumped into and lost all train of thought.
He was gorgeous he had a strong jawline, piercing blue eyes that stared into mine, and golden brown hair that shined under the lights. It suddenly hit me who he was...standing in front of me was a young Rob Lowe AKA Sodapop Curtis from the outsiders.
"No that's fine I wasn't looking either." He chuckles his voice was dreamy and he was even cuter in person.
"No it was completely all my fault." I protest shaking my head and looking down at my hands. I look back up at him biting my lip it was taking every ounce of self-control I had to not start fangirling.
I just wanted to hug him and scream and tell him about how much I loved him in the outsiders and also St Elmo's fire. But I knew I couldn't do that he doesn't even now about St Elmo's fire yet or the success of The Outsiders.
He laughs at my stubbornness "What's your name?" I can't help but blush because Rob Lowe THE Rob Lowe is asking my name. "My name is Autumn Jane but most just call me AJ. And what would your name happen to be?" It's Rob Lowe I already knew it but I was trying to play it cool not that I had much experience in doing that.
"Nice name. I'm Rob Lowe but you can just call me Rob." OH MY GOD he told me I can just call him Rob. This is so exciting like the best day of my life. "Anyway I gotta go but I hope to run into you again soon." He winks at me and my heart melts how can one guy do this to me? I smile in response and nod trying my hardest not to blush crimson red.
He walked off and my gaze followed him until he reached the elevator and then he flashed another smile and I smiled back. Did I just flirt with Rob Lowe? I shake the thought from my head and make my way to the front desk.
"Hello how can I help you?" The gentleman at the front desk asked me with a smile. "I would like to rent a room for a few days." "Sure for how many people?" I lean closer to the desk "Just myself so I will only be needing a one bedroom." He nods and returns to his ancient looking grey computer.
"Any preference of floor, spa etc.?" I shake my head "Nope just which room you think would be best." He smiles "I don't think you could afford that." I chuckle "Oh believe me I have enough money for the penthouse even." His eyebrows raise "Would you like the penthouse?" I sigh why was this so hard to just book one room.
"Look what room is the most common?" "Uh the 3th floor rooms are currently the most popular." "Ok just book me one of those then please." He nods and after a few minutes of him typing and writing things down in a notebook he hands me a set of keys.
"I hope you enjoy your stay at the Excelsior Hotel." I smile and nod my head in thanks then hurry towards the elevator.
After 30 seconds of waiting in the mirrored elevator and listening to the elevator jingle that seemed to play all over the country the doors dinged open and I stepped out into the cream coloured hallway. I walk slowly looking at each door trying to find room 30.
26, 28, 30!
Before I put my keys into the door though I hear the door open next to me I look over. There he was the one and only Emilio Estevez. His blonde hair styled like he had it in the breakfast club and his blue eyes were kind. "Oh hey are you staying next door?" "Nah I just like standing outside the front of hotel room doors. It's a weird habit." I joke and then mentally face palm myself why did I just say that? But he laughs he actually like laughed...oh my god!
"You're funny. Which is good considering we are going to be neighbours but don't come to me asking for sugar cause I don't have any...at least not of the food variety." I laugh in both surprise and humour. Emilio Estevez just made a sexual innuendo towards me! Autumn Jane!
"Well then I guess I should know your name." I state and brush a piece of hair away from my face. "Emilio Estevez and what would your name be pretty lady?" I blush trying not to as I know my cheeks will turn as red as a tomato. "Um it's Autumn Jane but just call me AJ." I say trying to sound calm rather than how nervous I actually was.
He waits a few seconds looking me up and down before speaking "Well I gotta go it was nice meeting you Emilio."
I push the keys into the lock and turn them hearing the click I push the door open but before stepping in I turn to him and say "I hope to see you again." Then walk in without another word.
The room was small but humble with a bed against the right wall, a small TV opposite the double bed, a bathroom leading straight off the entrance and a cupboard at the far end of the room with a small window next to it looking out over Tulsa.
I heard a knock on the white door I spin around and open it revealing one of the hotel staff. "Yes?" "Autumn Jane?" I nod slowly.
"It turns out you already had a room here...so we have brought all your belongings here to your new room." I swung the door open and let him and few other staff in.
"May I ask why you got another room? Were you unsatisfied with the other one?" I shake my head "No I had an accident and was in hospital for the past 2 weeks I guess i didn't remember coming here." I sort of lie but some of it was the truth I did have an accident.
His face drops as if he feels rather awkward now "Oh i-I'm sorry i-" I put my hands up and chuckle slightly "Don't be it's fine .
Thankyou for bringing my belongings I won't be needing anything else though so if you will excuse me." He nods gestures to the other men with a hand gesture and hurries out the door with them behind him.
I look around my room clothes were neatly hung in the open closet and a box was placed on the bed. Whoever I was before this accident in 1982 or whatever I was doing I must have been planning to stay here for a while. I walked cautiously over to the box not exactly sure what I would find in the cardboard box.
First I find a hot pink toiletry bag along with a rubix cube...weird. Digging deeper I find two handbags one that matches my purse and another one which is white, some perfume bottles, a Polaroid camera with Polaroids to go with it and then at the bottom was the book 'The Outsiders.'
I smile at the book but leave it in there because I was getting hungry. I grab my purse and key and head towards the door I was exhausted but I wanted to explore Tulsa. I exit my room and close the door behind me locking it before I leave.
I start down the hall when I am stopped by somebody calling my name I turn around to see Emilio chasing after me. "Where you going?" "Out for dinner. Why?" it was still so weird talking to him knowing his future more than he does.
It was only a few days ago I was fantasizing about meeting them about being in the outsiders reading wattpad fanfics every day. Now I was in 1982 talking to Emilio Estevez who plays Two-Bit Mathews.
"I was just wondering if you wanted to come out for dinner with my friends and I?" I can't help but grin and nod my head "Sure that'd be great." "Awesome their waiting down stairs." I smile and we walk to the elevator.
