My mom had set this whole thing up, this 'blind date' for me with her friend's daugther. I had been on these things before but still my mother insisted that this girl was gorgeous and beautiful. She even begged me to meet her. I kept thinking to myself though.

'If she gorgeous, how come she dosen't have a guy and needs to go on a date?'

But then again, I wasn't bad myself and most women would be happy to go out with me so I had no room to talk.

I am single and dating scene often left me wanting to just wait and pray to God until the right one to come. Wishing to meet one women who would change all that.

Yeah, I had plenty of dates, especially the 'blind' kind and deep inside me hoping that maybe, just maybe, this time it would be different.

I met her at the beach. My mom wanted this to be romantic and even if there weren't any chemistry between us, at least the scenery would be nice distraction. I wore casual slacks and sport shirt and some sneakers this evening. It was just before sun set and the weather was nice out. There was a hint of the first stars starting to dot the still blue sky. I looked to the water, the surf that rolled back and forth and seem to dance with the beach.

Beep..beep..

I take out my phone inside my pocket and saw a call from unknown number. Without giving a second thought, I answered the call.

"Hello?" I heard a girl voice and its reminds me back about a girl from the car accident.

"Hello, I thought you're not going to call me back?" I questioned her.

"And I thought you're not going to pay" she asserted.

"I think you're the one who should pay me back because you had mistaken me as the one who damage your car" I replied.

"I don't think so. I am the victim here and you make me feel like a guilty person-" She commented and paused before continue "- And, I want us to met this friend of yours to fix my car".

"Sure. I'll sent you the address and time to met there"

"Okay, see you there"

"Wait-" I stopped her before she could hang out. "I want to apologize about yesterday" even thought it was not my fault. I spoke inside my heart and keeping it to myself.

"Hmm. Its okay, though. Thanks for apologizing" She said in a soft tone.

"My pleasure. So, we're good?"

She paused a few second, maybe she thinking about it before replied "Yeap". Pressing the word 'P'.

"Cool. By the way, I'm Kevin and what's yours?" I introduced myself to her.

"Isabella. Just Isabell or Bell"

"I'll called you, Bella. It sound nice"

"Oh. No one ever called me that before"

"Well, I'm your first then. You make me feel special"

"Whatever, Mr. Whatever"

"So, that's my nickname?" I could tell that she cursed herself as she spill the tea when I heard that name. I find it cute every time she does that "I like it" I smile.

She made an awkward laughed and tried to ignore me. "Okay, I had to go now. Bye"

"Sure. Bye" and with that, we end our call.

My head flashback the first time I met her. I can tell by her face that she is younger than me. The way she looked at me make my heart flattered a little bit. I don't know what I feel. Maybe, love at a first sight? It couldn't be. There's something about her that make me interested to know more.

I pressed her number and saved her name as, Bella, in my contacts list. I opened my whatsapp application and type the mechanic address, google map location and the time to her.

Finally, after several minutes of pacing back and forth and looking my watch I saw a woman approching me. 'This must be her' I thought.

I raised my eyebrows thinking she was really kind of pretty. At least from this distance she seemed to have a nice body. That was something. I would have to wait for her to get closer to make up my mind about her face.

As she got closer, I could see her face clearly. She was indeed beautiful. But, I like Bella more. We smiled at one another, as we got closer to each other and both of us extended hands to the other.

"Hi, you must be Melissa. I'm Kevin, and I'm your blind date this evening" I started the conversation.

Hi, Kevin. Nice to meet you" she replied with a smile on her face.

"I have something for you" I pulled out a single rose from behind my back and presented it to her. "A rose with thorns for a rose without" I said. I leaned over and kissed the back of her hand and looked deep into her eyes.

"If you'll come with me, I have a surprise for you for our date and its just up ahead past that bend in the beach" and I pointed up a ways past a tree line. It shocked me when Melissa reached out for my hand and laced our fingers together.

'She should ask me first' I thought and I tried to ignore her attitude.

"So, Melissa. Tell me a little bit about yourself. I'd really love to get to know you better" I said as we walked together.

She smiled at me. "Well, I'm currently single. I have love for reading and writing and I love great outdoors" She said as she looked out at the surf and the setting sun. She turned and looked over me and smiled shyly. "I must admit this was a wonderful choice for a blind date. I'm impressed".

I stared at the ocean which now making a soothing sound as the waves washed in and out near our feet as we walkes towards the tree line. "Well, someone thought it would be nice to change from the dinner and movie types I've had before" I can see her face changed as if she expected that this was my idea.

Up ahead in the distance there was a table sitting half way from the trees to the edge of the beach. It had a nice table cloth on it and dinner already prepared. There were torches already lit that were pushed into the sand at the corners a little ways away from the table. Beyond that was a little campfire with a pallet.

"Wow. You did all of this for me?" She asked incredulously as her eyes took everything in.

"Yep. I hope this is okay?" Even thought the blind date beach idea was from my mom. I still thought that I should arranged a surprise for my blind date partner.

"Are you kidding me? This is wonderful!" She stated.

The table was sitting on a short wooden platform so that we actually weren't sitting on a sand. I escorted her to her seat and sit infront of her. I took a lighter on the side of the table and lit the candles.

"Beef steak for today" I said as I took off the pans, revealing the food "Enjoy the meal".

There was a sound of romantic music beside them from a radio. I felt this would make for a nice back drop along with the amazing view of sunset over the ocean.

The cloth napkins are placed on our laps and I handed her a water bottle "I do hope its okay for you to drink water instead of wine?".

"Yeah. Its fine with me"

"A toast" I said as I raised the glass of water to her. She tapped the tops of her glass with mine and taking a sip. We began to eat and soon, our conversation flowed from one subject to another and endless effort from music and bands to tv shows and movies.

Our conversation cease as her phone rang. "Excuse me" she request to talked with the person on her phone and I nodded. After a few minutes, she walked towards me and apologize.

"I'm so sorry, Kevin. I had to go now but thank you so much for the date. Its really beautiful".

"Oh. Its okay. Don't be" I utter even though I don't want the date end fast. "Take care of yourself".

"I will. Thank you. I'm sorry" and with that she set her hand on my shoulder and walked away.

I sat in silence for the next 10 minutes or so. I contemplate how quicked the times past.

I guess, our date didn't go well?

Poor Kevin. The date didn't go well as he expected. Maybe he'll find his true love one day? (๑′°︿°๑) I hope so.
