the state of being unconscious

The world didn't stop just because her brain did. But everything happening around her was as alive as she was dead.

She was unconscious and unaware of what had been going on with her. And it was because she was unconscious that she never knew she was dying until she finally did.

Her mother never told her that the world was a cruel place. She only told her stories about a magical, loving place. The place that didn't exist of course. Because from time to time, we all tell ourselves stories about nonexistent things, about nonexistent fairy tales in our nonexistent dreams that we fools believe to exist.

It wasn't until she fell into a coma that she became the most aware person. She became the most aware person when her brain stopped being aware. She could hear her pulse lower and rise in volume and slow and quicken in rhythm. For a while, she heard it stop and then she couldn't hear it anymore.

But maybe she was just deaf.

Or maybe she just didn't want to hear her annoying heartbeat any longer.

She could smell the pretty flowers by the desk on the table. A perfumed mix of lilies, daisies, and roses. The auroma permeated the room like a strong fragrance that fell upon it. Heaven was on it. And she could tell and not just because of the beautiful smell. But because they were brought by someone who cared. She sniffed once again, but then the flowers withered and the petals became dead. And then she couldn't smell the flowers anymore.

Maybe she had just lost her sense of smell.

Or maybe she just didn't want to smell the annoying perfume that had spilled on her nose any longer.

Her eyes weren't open. But she could see everything in 360° vision. Or maybe a 180° envision that she thought was a reality when she was just dreaming up another nonexistent scene. But why could she see it this clean and this clearly? She blinked. She thought she blinked. And everything blurred.

Maybe she was just going blind.

Or maybe she just didn't want to see that annoying sight any longer.

Because seeing wasn't the only way to make her vision stronger. To make her vision stronger she had to keep on dreaming about nonexistent things and pretend they existed for a little bit. Because it healed the heartache. And she was already in a deep sleep. It wouldn't hurt her to dream little.

She was unconscious.

Because she was unconscious...

She never knew when they pulled the plug.
