Ah yes,Christmas Eve.
The pre-game to Christmas Day of course.
One of my favorite times of the year has arrived.
Only this year I feel more antsy especially after the news I heard 4 days prior..

[ 4 days earlier ]

The bell ringing on my phone alerts me it's time to check the results and I fight the urge to look.
Melody grabs my hand and boldly shoves the tests in my hands without looking at them either.
"Breathe in and out for me bestie" she says and I sigh before I take a deep breath and exhale.
I open my eyes and look down.
My heart jumps out of my chest when I see two positive tests looking back at me.
The confirmation I wasn't totally excited for has come.
It's sealed,I'm going to be a mother.
It feels strange,I was so anxious but looking at the tests I feel warm inside as if I've been waiting for this moment my entire life.
It's something strange that my first reaction is to rub my stomach as if i have a bump.
- [ ~ present ~ ]
All those worries for nothing,My body accepted the outcome of the tests.
Now the real reason why I'm antsy is because Mingyu has no idea still,we never spoke after I found out because I got tired from all the crying I did prior to the tests so I fell asleep and he came home with the donuts like he promised.
But he ended up falling asleep as well after discovering me asleep.
Now it's Christmas Eve and the apartment is packed with gifts nicely wrapped up in elaborate wrapping paper.
Gifts for some of the cousins,gifts for some of the babies in the family and a gift that is for Mingyu.
It's specifically for him,mainly because it's his Christmas gift and a extra gift which is my pregnancy reveal gift.
I bought a baby onesie online saying
"Daddy's Favorite" in a neutral cream color.
Placed it in a box and wrapped it up with some scrap Christmas wrapping paper we had leftover.
Our families will be visiting anytime soon as well as my uncles with their own families.
I'm in the kitchen,which is slowly warming the entire apartment.
I'm glued to the oven as I watch carefully my Christmas sugar cookies bake.
I wouldn't want my first time hosting Christmas in my new apartment to go awry,not when so many people are coming!
I peak inside to see the cookies are golden and I poke one with a toothpick.
No residue comes out from it as I pull it out.
Signaling me it's fully baked,I pull the cookie tray out of the oven and the aroma of sugar fills my senses.
I place the tray on the counter and close the oven door.
I leave the cookies alone to cool down before I can go decorate them.
I take off my apron temporarily and walk to the living room.
I throw myself on the sofa and sigh in relief.
My feet are killing me from crouching that long.
Mingyu walks in with his matching Christmas sweater on and sits next to me.
"My love it's our first time hosting Christmas...are you excited? I promise I'll handle the adults" he says.
"We are adults also silly. I'm excited but nervous to fuck up anything" I say biting my bottom lip nervously.
"Yah..what would go wrong? You're the best planner of these kind of things it wouldn't fail" he says.
"Really?" I ask him waiting for a sincere answer.
Even though I know he'll feed me some sugar laced answer because he's sweet and my boyfriend after all.
"Of course...plus think about it with your mom's Eggnog?-"
"Coquito" I correct and he stares at me lovingly.
"What?"
"It's called Coquito..it's a drink that has rum,coconut milk,cream of coconut,sweetened condensed milk,vanilla,nutmeg & cinnamon" I say.
"Wow,no wonder we got drunk that one Christmas when we were kids" he says giggling.
"No shit Sherlock,we weren't even supposed to be with the adults in the porch when that happened.." I say laughing as I remember the memory.
Of us,me being 8 years old and him 10 years old.
He should've known better than to grab a random,unmarked bottle from the table.
But he did,three cups later we found ourselves in the backyard rolling around on the floor because we couldn't bare to stand up.
"Well that drink and my dad's soju,they won't remember shit from today.." he says.
"Mingyu-"
All of sudden knocking is heard and my heart jumps out of my chest.
They are here already.
I smile faintly at him as I try to calm my heart down.
I'm grabbing onto my chest as he opens the front door slightly to peek his head out and I see from the small crack of the door my parents with my siblings.
As if it was planned,in comes from behind his parents and they all greet each other ignoring us at first as we watch them.
They notice and rush over to both of us.
"Umi princess you look great! You're glowing!" Mingyu's mom says and I freeze.
How could she notice?
Ugh she probably meant it in a different way but here I am nevertheless stressing out.
I escort them inside and hand Mingyu a large aluminum foil takeout pan.
He sneaks a peek inside and nearly moans in delight as he smells the yummy scent of Pernil also known as pulled pork.
My mother made some for Christmas Eve,you see usually every year we would eat it together as a family of 5.
But with a small apartment that will soon be overcrowded and plenty of food to share.
Let's just say nobody's leaving hungry from this apartment.
I hear another knock on the door and I open it to see Melody & Kyle walk in with their hands & arms locked together.
"Hi bestie! Merry Christmas!" Melody says and I smile.
"Hi! You both came!!" I say smiling as I see they look at each other with so much love in their eyes.
Like me and Mingyu.
This makes me glance behind my shoulder to see him,with both his mother and my mother in the kitchen as they set up for dinner.
I smile big and Melody sees this signaling Kyle to go leave their gifts under our tree so we can open later.
"Did you tell him yet?" She whispers in my ear covering her face so Mingyu can't read her lips.
He has a habit to read lips,very very well.
"No..I may have wrapped up the test and going to give it to him as a gift along with his other actual gift" I say lowly as I also cover my face with my hand.
"Ooh! How romantic! Kyle has been weird all day today he won't let me touch his satchel" she says.
"I still can't believe he carries that thing around" I say rolling my eyes playfully.
"It's adorable and I think it's fashionable" she says pouting.
"Whatever you dork,you're in love so you'll find anything he does amazing" I say and she raises a eyebrow at me.
"Like you and Mingyu? Perhaps?" She wiggles her eyebrows at me and I roll my eyes again.
"Yeah I bet he be making you do that too-"
"MELODY LILY KIM!" I say nearly squealing as I blush and hide my face out of embarrassment.
"Ok no need to say my full name out here" she says giggling and hugs me tightly.
"You got this though bestie" she says and I kiss the top of her head.
"I sure hope so" I say biting my bottom lip.
~later that night~
It's now dinner time and more guests have joined us.
Uncle Hoseok,Jimin,Taehyung,Yoongi & Seokjin all arrive with their families.
So just like i predicted,the apartment is crowded which leaves me and Mingyu to sit very closely to each other as we try to make room for everyone at the table.
Some people sitting in the living room when we have no room to sit at the table.
I twist my fork to scoop up some Alfredo pasta Mingyu made and he glances over at me.
"I know it's wrong to talk like this during Christmas but might I say,you look beautiful tonight" he says lowly.
"Thank you babe" I say blushing and he leans close to my ear.
"You'd look more beautiful with that sweater off" he whispers and bites his lip at me.
I smack his arm playfully.
"Santa isn't gonna come thanks to you!" I say as I fake a pout.
Our parents watch us mess around quietly and I look over to see them staring.
"Sorry-"
"No need,we all were like you both remember?" They say and I hide my face in his shoulder as he chuckles.
~11:50pm~
With ten minutes until midnight,we start gathering all the gifts to open at midnight.
I leave some gifts to open later on Christmas morning.
Mingyu sits on the floor with me as we check the names on all of the gifts and start handing out the gifts.
After everyone receives the gifts,I stand up to make Mingyu some hot chocolate as well some for Melody.
Siblings,complete polar opposites but in some stuff they are the same.
As I'm heating up the drinks,my mom taps my shoulder.
"Have you told him anything yet?" She asks me.
"No...soon he'll find out" I say.
"How?" She asks me and I smile.
I lean closer to her ear.
"At midnight,you'll see...you all will see" I whisper.
She smiles ear to ear.
"So it's true?!" She asks me and I nod.
"OMG!" She says but covers her mouth quickly and just grabs me tightly.
"Play pretend please,I can't have them finding out that you know before anyone else,you and Melody are the only ones!" I say and she nods.
"My lips are sealed!" She says and returns to the living room.
I look at the clock to see it says "11:58pm".
Just two minutes until the love of my life knows the biggest secret ever!...
~12AM~
The sound of cheers as we wish each other Merry Christmas.
I look at the window and see the beautiful sight of snow coming down painting the concrete streets of New York, pure white.
I smile and walk over to Mingyu with the hot chocolate he wanted in my hand.
He smiles and grabs my waist to pull me in.
"Merry Christmas baby" he says and he kisses me softly.
I look up when I see Melody giggling and I smirk.
I see Mistletoe hanging above our heads.
"You've managed to kiss me under the mistletoe Mr. Kim you are such a cornball!" I say rolling my eyes playfully and he smirks.
"You love it,don't deny it!" He says.
"I don't know..." I say teasingly and he starts to tickle my sides making me burst out in laughter.
I escape his hold to grab the present I've been hiding underneath the sofa and walk back over to him.
I watch everyone open their gifts and decide to make a announcement.
"Everyone!" I say tapping Mingyu's mug to make enough noise so I can catch their attention.
"This gift means a lot to me to give it to Mingyu and I want you all to see it please" I say and they all look at me confused but nevertheless go along with it.
Mingyu sits down looking just as confused.
I hand him the perfectly wrapped red and white striped present and he starts to rip the wrapping paper apart in excitement.
He sees a small white box and opens it.
Inside is a baby onesie and covered in tissue paper is the positive pregnancy test.
He raises his eyebrow at me and lifts up the onesie.
Everyone in the room giggle.
"Are you trying to say I'm your baby? Because this is adorable babe" he says.
I shake my head smiling at him.
Everyone goes silent and Uncle Namjoon tears up when he realizes what it means.
Both of my parents eyes have tears forming in them.
"What could it mean then?" He asks me.
He looks down and I point to the tissue paper.
He unwraps the paper and he grabs the pregnancy test.
"N-no way...you're pregnant?" He says and I nod biting my lip nervously as I wait for his reaction.
Instead he grabs me tightly and starts crying.
Like he cries hard.
"I'm honored to be not only your life partner,but now a future dad to our future child" he says and I tear up.
I run my fingers through his hair.
"Calm down silly,come here" I say and wipe his tears away.
I press my forehead on his.
"I love you,we're going to be okay right?" I ask him.
"Of course!" He says.
"Great...because I'm terrified" I say before bursting into tears and he grabs me this time.
Comforting me as everyone in the room is emotional.
They all gather around me and my uncles all grab my hand including my dad.
"Don't worry,you got not only Mingi...but your aunties and us. All 7 of us!" My dad says with all my uncles nodding their heads in agreement.
I smile with tears still in my eyes.
I have the best support system in the world,I guess I am going to be okay...
