Yumi's POV:
I pace back and forth in the empty school hallway,I should be in class but I'm here waiting for Melody.
You must be wondering why,well Melody,her classmate Emma,Emma's boyfriend Ezra,Melody's crush who doesn't even know she likes him: Kyle & Kyle's best friend Zaire are all going to Coney Island.
Well we're sneaking out of class early,but in actuality.
We're leaving school a hour earlier because we secretly planned this since Monday,but had to execute the plan this Friday afternoon & of course it's another gloomy-ish autumn day.
I ponder what Malakai might be doing tonight,I know it's the autumn festival tonight but i don't know honestly.
After our little car ride to my house,I felt so many butterflies throughout that car ride.
I can't get it out of my head,it replays like a broken record.
that moment we shared,in his black Cadillac.
his windows tinted enough that if we had kissed in the front of my house,no one could see it.
Okay that's my hormones talking,oh god.
He's my BEST FRIEND for God's sake,I mean like we grew up together and saw each other in the most embarrassing predicaments.
But every time I face him everyday at school,I melt into millions of pieces.
My legs feel like jello & no words can escape my mouth at that moment.
He's the most popular guy in our school,he is highly admired by the girls & the guys want to be him.
He's THAT GUY.
there's always "THAT GUY".
he's a athlete,he's a good student with good grades,has amazing manners but is natural born flirt,he socializes at every school event that I've yet to go to yet.
The school dance is coming soon and I secretly wish he will ask me to be his date,but that's like waiting for your name to be called because you won the lottery.
Ugh,where is my best friend anyway?¿!

Melody's POV:
I let out a fake cough & start my Oscar worthy performance of me rocking myself back and forth in my seat.
Groaning loudly before throwing myself on the floor,Mrs. Francis sees me passed out and she gasps.
"Ms. Kim are you feeling well?" She asks me after running over & bending down to check on me.
"I'm not actually- can I get a letter for the nurse?" I ask quietly hiding the smirk that wants to form on my face.
"Okay.." she says trying to look for a paper.
Emma stands up with her conjoined twin *cough cough* I mean Ezra,who's literally by her side.
"Ma'am we can walk her to the nurse" she says feigning worry & Ezra follows our act.
Zaire who is silent in the corner acts like nothing happened with Kyle.
ah yes,Kyle.
Mr. cool,he never crumbles under pressure.
I watch every move he does at the corner of the classroom.
Kyle walls over after eyeing me from the corner of his eye.
His secret signal to me.
I stand up when Emma grabs me but I force myself back on the ground.
Faking that I'm dizzy again.
He grabs me this time and he holds me bridal style which causes my head to spin.
But I can't freeze up because my crush is holding me.
No,I must continue.
I remind myself mentally to carry on the act.
He carries me out of the classroom while Emma and Ezra wait for Mrs. Francis to finish her note.
After receiving the note,we bolt out of the corridor and make our way to the hallway.
We are met with a very visibly upset & grumpy Yumi.
I won't hear the end of this will I?...

Yumi's POV:
She won't hear the end of this now..
I stomp over to them and I eye Kyle when I see he's still holding Melody like as if she broke her ankle.
She looks at us both and nudges him.
He places her back on the ground after turning red.
"I won't ask questions other than WHY THE FUCK YOU TOOK SO LONG & WHERE IS ZAIRE?" I ask
"Here ma'am don't hurt me" Zaire says chuckling behind me & I nearly scream.
He covers my mouth.
"Didn't mean to scare you doll" he says and hugs me.
"Don't do that again" I say punching his arm and he  fake moans in pain.
He grabs my arm.
"We have somewhere to go don't we now?" He asks me.
"Do we?" I say and he walks up to me.
"Umi..." he warms
"What?" I say coming off sounding a tad sassy.
Especially that I crossed my arms across my chest while I said it.
"Don't-"
"Be petty? I waited nearly a hour!" I whine and he chuckles again.
"Imagine me waiting for my mom to finish saying goodbye to everyone at church" he says and I nod.
"We're even" I say crossing our fingers together and we leave all together..

[ Coney Island ]
the sound of children screaming,the smell of popcorn & corn dogs.
cotton candy that matches the sunset that's happening over the horizon & the faint smell of the salty Atlantic Ocean.
Ah yes,Coney Island.
Located in the heart of Brooklyn,New York.
we walk down the boardwalk & I find myself struggling to hold back from buying nearly everything I see from the carnival shops around.
We find a dark ride,a haunted house one to be exact.
We all get inside & ride it.
Zaire gets bored quickly so he ends up tricking me on the ride by jumpscaring me every 10 seconds.
After the ride is over,we get on a rollercoaster that's famous here.
Note to self,never doing that again.
I screamed so loudly,I screamed as if someone was killing me.
I mean the ride would've killed me if it went on for any longer.
We went on a few more rides before deciding to eat.
As the boys order food,me & the girls sit down taking in the scenery.
That's when..
I see him.
With a blonde haired girl in his embrace.
She looks nothing like I guessed his type would be.
She's all over him but he doesn't seem to mind it.
I put my head down.
I should've known,he only sees me as a little sister or a best friend.
I now know who's gonna be his date for the school dance.
At least I assume.
I haven't even approached him.
Oh no.
He's walking over here.
God no,leave please.
"Hi ladies what are y'all doing here?" He says
"Hi Mingyu...it's so weird seeing you outside of school." Emma says looking at him.
I quietly nudge her side,reminding her she has a boyfriend.
She clears her throat and checks on her phone instead.
"Hi Mingi- I mean..Mingyu. fancy seeing you here with??" I say.
"Kellyann,Kellyann Jones" she says smiling faintly
"You know her babe?" She adds looking at only Mingyu.
I roll my eyes,I'm not even gonna act all nice.
"Kelly she's my friend" he says and the word "Friend" stings worse than anything.
I cringe seeing them act all cutesy in front of me.
"So Emma who's your date to Homecoming?" Melody asks trying to change the atmosphere.
"Ezra obviously." Emma says smiling.
I watch as she types something under the table.
My phone buzzes & I look at it.
"Ems💕: you like him don't you?"
I glare at her
"Umi☁️: why you say that?"
"Ems💕: it's obvious and he's dumb enough to not notice"
"Umi☁️: he doesn't like me back anyway so it's useless"
"Ems💕: make him jealous."
"Umi☁️: excuse me??"
"Ems💕: watch his reactions and you'll see..call Zaire over real quick."
I raise a eyebrow reading the text.
"Zaire!" I shout and he looks over at me.
"Come here real quick." I say and he walks over.
He looks at Mingyu & raises a eyebrow at me.
"What's wrong doll?" He asks me grabbing my arm like he always does.
But this time I'm grabbing his back.
"I missed you so I wanted you closer to me" I say even though it sounds so cheesy but I needed something.
"Oh?" He says and looks over at the corner of his eye at Mingyu.
Reading the room,he smirks and grabs my hand.
Catching me off guard,the song "Space Girl" plays loudly throughout the speakers.
He starts dancing with me & I get closer to his ear.
"It's temporary don't get attached" I say
"You're reminding yourself or me?" He asks me & i roll my eyes playfully.
He puts his arms around my waist.
Causing me to squeal.
"I didn't say-"
"You want to make him jealous?" He whispers in my ear.
"Yes." I say lowly.
"Follow my lead." He says and a slow song comes on right after.
So we slow dance.
This time catching the attention of everyone including the people walking by on the boardwalk.

Mingyu's POV:
I watch her dance with Zaire.
My football partner,he literally is my right hand man.
But watching him dance with her,causes my blood to boil.
I'm not so sure why though.
Is this jealousy?
Nah.
She's not mine.
She's just a friend.
"Babe let's dance too" Kelly says her voice laced with annoyance.
I grab her hand and dance next to the odd couple.
Zaire watches us quietly and decides to pull out a full choreo with a unsuspecting Yumi.
She goes along with whatever he does with her.
I get angry,knowing him he's a player.
He will just break her heart & leave her.
But two can play at this game.
I start twirling Kelly around and she squeals in excitement.
After a while we take a break.
While Zaire doesn't let up.
Instead,Yumi slips off her shoes.
I look at her bare feet & I heard her hiss in pain as her feet touched the floor.
Zaire heard it too apparently that they walk back to the table area,he sits her down & goes back to the boys who finally got food.
I roll my eyes as I see him hand feed a French fry.
It's gross.
That should be me.
Wait what?
What am I even saying?
Let me leave before I do something stupid.
"C'mon Kelly let's go" I say
"But babe we just got he-
"I don't care." I say and she nods silently.

Yumi's POV:
I watch him and Kelly leave.
Emma puts her hand up for a high five.
I high five even though I secretly feel guilty inside.
"He got bothered that means he likes you Umi. You got him wrapped around your finger girly" she says
"Can we go home now? I'm tired." I say and Kyle raises a eyebrow at me.
"You're really gonna let me ruin our night? C'mon.." he says and I sigh loudly.
"He ruins all my nights,don't you see? I need a breather." I say and start walking even though I'm limping.
I walk towards the Ferris wheel,while the others protest.
I get on it by myself & it starts automatically.
I watch the view of Coney Island from up here,but memories of me & Mingyu run through my head.
I sigh loudly running my fingers through my own hair.
"Oh Yumi I hope she's right.." I say
"or else I just lost him." I add and look at the bright fireworks bursting through the sky.
