Yumi's POV:
Today is my dad's birthday,he's ultra excited about taking me,Luna & Daemin our youngest sibling to the beach before we leave Seoul for a so called vacation in the Hamptons.
while I may be excited to see America,I dread leaving behind my friends who've grown accustomed to me.
I chew on my bubblegum in annoyance as me & Melody,one of the only people who understands me & my longtime best friend stare into the distance as our parents folic around in the sand acting like hyper children.
Melody nudges my side & I groan in pain.
I rub my side & she lays her head on my shoulder.
"It's not like you'll miss those shitty kids anyway..they could care less for you-"
"Mel you don't understand. I'm somewhat popular & it's bad enough Jieyeon is returning from boarding school after that fight we had-"
"She won't be back until maybe two months after you come back you'll be safe plus she'll have to go through me before hurting you!" She says wiggling her finger in my face.
I raise a eyebrow at her.
Cute. but Melody is unfortunately 5'1 & Jiyeon,my rival at high school which I had started 3 months prior to this sudden vacation announcement.
she stirred up gossip & drama between me & her so we fought everyday until she came for me & my hair.
So i tackled her and we punched each other out.
But my dad,stepped in and cleared my name.
but that left Jiyeon's wealthy parents to send her off to boarding school against her own wishes which she vowed to get her revenge when she comes back.
Yesterday at school,I stumbled upon the class president who's a mixed foreigner Jennifer Martinez who told me Jiyeon will be switching from her boarding school back to our school for "good behavior" but the reality is her wealthy connections led her getting out of the school early.
so I'm doomed if she arrives earlier than expected which is in November.
"Yah! At least I'm coming with you silly to America! Of all places! We're going to the hamptons! Cmon!!" She says grabbing me and ruffling up my hair.
"Hmm.." I nod and hold her for a little.
Until Malakai shows up,her brother who's older than her by minutes specifically 20 minutes earlier.
"Y'all okay over here? Is there a funeral?" He says smirking & I flip him off.
He cringes "it's so gross when you curse at me" he says and I stick my tongue out at him.
"My dad wants you & Mel over there with them" he says & I shake my head while rolling my eyes.
"Don't they understand we need our time alone as well-"
"Kids!" I hear from behind and I turn around to see my dad,Jungkook with two ice cream cones one with chocolate & vanilla scoops that has a cherry placed perfectly on top and the other a strawberry & mint chocolate ice cream cone with chocolate chips on top.
I grab the first cone from his hands roughly & he looks at me.
"No thank you dad for the yummy ice cream?" He asks me when I start attacking the ice cream as if I hadn't had bubblegum in my mouth just a second ago nor did I eat the entire day (which I ate 2 hearty meals prior to this).
"Tha...thank you dad" I say as I eat some of the Ice cream & he smiles.
"You're welcome sweetheart it was your moms idea actually-"
"I don't care." I say suddenly going back to my moody self.
He sighs & walks back to the sandy area where my mom & my siblings are lounging at.
"Why are you so mean to your own dad?" Melody asks me & I look at her.
"I'm not mean,I'm moody there's a difference-"
"Doesn't matter,even with my mood swings I talk nicely to my dad." She says and leaves me to go for a swim with her family.
I sit alone looking at the sun & the already changing leaves that show fall is on it's way.
Red,brown,yellow & orange.

I see Mingyu watch his mom signal him over to take a swim with them,he strips off his shirt revealing his chest to everyone at the beach.
Which I have the blessing of witnessing,he steps slowly into the water since it's a drastic difference from the weather outside.
He looks around and we lock eyes for the first time.
I jump down & hide myself from all sight.
I bite my fingernails nervously.
"Damnit! Damnit! He probably didn't see me right?" I say and I shake my head.
There's no way he saw me hide after that right?
Of course he did you idiot! He's not blind!
Ugh!
-later that day-
it's now 8:30pm and the sun has long been gone.
the weather is chilly resulting in us going back home but having a massive bbq with the entire gang.
Melody & Malakai helping their dad with grilling & me sitting on my phone looking through Instagram & Tiktok.
I feel a tap on my shoulder & I turn back to see a god sent.
A angel from heaven,no...
He's enteral to look at,mister Mingyu Choi.
his name alone signifies royalty.
I drift off into dreamland for a second as we locked eyes again but face to face.
I look at every detail of his face & analyze in my head.
I find myself dumbstruck by how perfect he looks,but his words snap me out of dreamland.
"Yumi...are you-"
"I'm fine." I say blinking finally and trying to divert my eyes away.
"Were you staring earlier at the beach by any chance?" He asks me & I want to bury myself right there.
"N-No..I just happened to look up to see you in the water." I stutter
Nice save,mhmm..we'll see how this goes.
It's so obvious at this point,that my crush on him is like fanning flames.
"Oh well it's because i didn't want any awkwardness when we all go to New York for nearly a year."
"Oh yeah no worries-wait what did you just say???" I say with my eyes widening.
"Your parents didn't tell you? Oh right it was told at the beach,we're all temporarily moving to New York City to see if it's better to live when we're all older + I'm applying for college there in the winter & If accepted I'll be off in the spring." He says
"Wait what? So no one told me any of this! I was told we were going on-"
"Vacation? Well pack for at least 6 months bc it's a long vacation-" he says and walks away.
I look up at the sky and want to scream loudly in anger.
