Chapter Three

In the morning, Lori woke up and started to look around the bunker before sighing. She had hoped that the day before was just a nightmare and everything would be back to normal. Only to see that everything that happened was real. The deaths. The red sky. The mutations. All of it was real..and what's worse, it was all their fault.

"So much for hopeful thinking." Lori said to herself as she got up and started to wake the others up.

"Ow. I wish that I still had my Princess bed so my back doesn't hurt this much." Lola said. After saying that..Lola could hear her sister scoff causing her to narrow her eyes as she glared at her sister.

"Sadly..it was blown up. Everything was blown up even the house." Lana said. Lola was about to start an argument with her, but was stopped when Lori interrupted her.

"Don't start getting into arguments. We still need to get supplies so we can survive." Lori said knowing full well that her sisters fought like stray dogs. After saying that, Lori headed to the door of the bunker and slowly opened the door. The sky was still blood red and the rubble from their house was still fresh on the ground. The air smelt of ash, decay and blood which didn't help the girl's growing guilt.

"This place still looks awful." Luan said.

"I know. But we don't have time to think about it...we need to get supplies." Lori said as they started to head out of the bunker and walk towards the store. Many of the girls complained about walking, but Lori quickly reminded them that Vanzilla was still at the park.

"Look around you. If these cars are broken...then what does it say about the state of Vanzilla." Lori said. After thirty minutes, they came into the store and remembered the time where they all shopped together. Free and innocent without a care in the world. Now it serves as a reminder of the days before they remade the world.

"Okay. Only grab things that we need and meet back here at the entrance." Lori said. The rest of the sisters nodded and quickly searched for things that they needed for this new reality. As they did so, they tried not to step on any of the bodies lying on the floor.

"I hate this." Lynn said as she grabbed some canned food. She knew that meat and vegetables can go bad really fast so she never bothered to get any. She tried to get her mind off the decaying bodies around her by thinking about her friends. How many of them survived?  If were they mutated like the others?

"Suck it up Lynn. We have to get enough food to get us by for months." Luan said. Lynn grumbled and continued gathering the cans. When they finally got enough, the girls walked at front and saw that the others had the same idea and even managed to get an unused cooler that they stuffed full of ham, meat and some vegetables.

"Got everything?" Lori asked. Everyone nodded and they started the long journey home. A home that was still smoking when they reached it and seemed unable to give them any shelter. Luckily, Lisa's bucker survived and they moved instead there for the first couple of days. Unaware that they were being watched by someone in the shadows.
