patrick glares at pete from where he's following patrick into the house, "come on, please."

patrick shoves him up against the closest wall, it makes pete inhale sharply in relief and brace himself for the pain but it doesn't come.

"what's gotten into you, pete? you embarrassed me and yourself in front of andy and joe. what the hell were you thinking? getting into a fight with that guy. he wasn't even bothering you!"

"i wanted to feel the pain. i didn't even want the physical pain. i don't want it now. i just want someone to tell me how goddamn useless i am."

"you're not useless," patrick growls, "shut up and just go to bed."

"no, not until you tell me you hate me," pete spits. patrick only lets go of him and walks away, stripping his coat from his shoulders.

"i don't hate you."

"you should."

"but i don't."

patrick turns back and glares at pete.
