M.M. // The Gladiator

"Jesus, you're so fucking slow."

"I'm pregnant you asshole," Sage snapped at Maximus' words, finding him to be utterly annoying as they made their way back to the mansion.

They managed to pick up Nymeria on the way, Maximus staying quiet without throwing any remarks at Sage while she cried softly when they found the dog. For now Sage managed to make the dog hover in the air and follow them as they headed back to the mansion. Her powers of resurrection required too much energy to even try bringing the dog back to life. The red force field came into sight, a sigh of relief leaving both, Maximus and Sage's lips. Sage then turned to Maximus, parting her lips to speak urgently to him.

"I can go back on my own, you go help Harry," she told him firmly. "And be safe okay?"

"I'll be perfectly fine without your goodbye wishes-"

"Just go," Sage said with a roll of her eyes, making Maximus chuckle lightly, before turning back and jogging towards the forest.

Maximus' icy blue eyes navigated the way to the large space where he supposed The Saviors were supposed to be. It had been only about fifteen minutes or so since he and Sage left Harry to distract the Saviors. There was a bad feeling in the pit of Maximus' heart, but he didn't want to tell Sage about it because she would've gotten too worried. Stress is bad for the baby he thought to himself, before rolling his eyes at how he was actually thinking about the health of his niece or nephew. A part of him was somewhat excited for the baby, thinking that perhaps it would bring Sage and Harry back together.

He moved quickly and quietly, jumping over logs and ducking under jutting out branches. The large space in the middle of the forest came into sight soon enough. Maximus' brows lowered when he noticed that it was strangely empty except for a man whom was on the floor kneeling next to a body. His heart dropped in his chest as he quickly made his way towards the man, nearing them and noticing that it was Jason holding someone's body in his arms.

"Jason," Maximus uttered loudly.

Jason turned his upper body just as Maximus circled around him, jaw dropping open at the sight. Jason knelt on the grassy ground with Harry's dead body in his arms. His icy blue eyes turned glossy as they landed on the gaping blood hole in Harry's chest, before moving to his heart lying on the grass nearby. Maximus felt like his heart had exploded in his chest at the sight of his dead brother, sucking in sharp breaths as tears quickly gathered up in his eyes.

"No," he uttered in a low growl, his face scrunching up as he tried not to cry. "No he can't be," he stammered, a tear leaking from his eye as he dropped to his knees next to his brother. "Harry."

Maximus choked back on a sob at the sight of Harry's pale lifeless face, shaking his head in denial as he stood up and grabbed Harry's legs. Jason looked at him in confusion but Maximus immediately snapped at him to help him out. Jason obeyed quickly, slipping his arms under Harry's armpits and lifting him. Maximus momentarily set Harry's legs back down just to get his heart that laid on the grass, bloody and cold. Maximus grimaced and lightly put it inside the hole of Harry's chest for now.

"What are we doing?" Jason asked in a frantic whisper as they carried Harry through the forest quickly.

"We're gonna get them to bring him back."

S.E // The 7th Supreme

I sat on the steps that were at the back of the mansion, waiting for Harry to return with Maximus. My heart was pounding wildly in my chest as I sat there with my hand against my tummy. I could physically feel the baby draining the power out of her from the inside. My teeth sunk into my lower lip as my foot tapped impatiently, hating the worry and anxiety that filled my heart up. I had been receiving an earful from Atticus and the others for being so stupid and leaving just like that to take The Saviors on.

"Please, stop," I finally snapped with a harsh sigh. "I'm tired of hearing that shit, it's giving me a headache. Scold me after this is all over."

I flicked my gaze to my side where Nymeria sat panting happily near her. I couldn't help but wrap my arms around the dog's furry neck and hug her firmly, utterly glad that my baby girl was alive and safe now. When I tried to resurrect Nymeria, I felt a searing pain in my stomach that made me feel like I was being shredded from the inside. I couldn't resurrect no matter how hard I tried. Plus, Frida told me that it was too dangerous to use my powers now as it could severely affect the baby. So, Esmeralda brought Nymeria back for me since neither Rowena nor Atticus had the power of resurrection.

"There they are!" Rowena suddenly called out, before letting out a small gasp.

I stood up from my seated position immediately, squinting my eyes as I stared into the distance. It was still dark outside, but the night was fading away a little and things were much more distinguishable now than before. My heart fell in my chest when I saw two figures carrying a body. Inhaling short breaths, I felt myself hyperventilate when I started walking towards the figures, watching them come into focus as I neared them. It was Maximus and Jason carrying Harry.

"Oh my god," I whispered under my breath, feeling the worry and fear flood me heavily as they finally approached me.

A tiny shriek escaped my lips at the sight of Harry, feeling the shock hit me hard as eyes widened significantly at the sight of him. Maximus and Jason laid the body down just as I rushed towards them and dropped to my knees. There Harry laid, dead, with a cavernous, bloody hole in his chest where his heart was just shoved in. My brain formulated no thoughts other than to register that I was shocked. My hands rose up to cup my gaping mouth as I choked on a sob.

But before I could even react properly, my shoulders were suddenly gripped by a firm pair of hands, my upper body turned sharply to the left where I found myself staring into a pair of crazy, icy blue eyes.

"Resurrect him!" Maximus snapped harshly in desperation, shaking my shoulders vigorously, making me sob out loud, shaking my head. "What the fuck are you waiting for? Do it!"

"Maximus, I can't-" I shoved at his chest while crying, stumbling as I got to my feet.

"What do you mean you can't? You fucking can! You're a Supreme!" he screamed at me, wrapping his fingers around my forearms.

"Max! Listen to me-"

"No you listen to me-"

He was quickly interrupted when Atticus, who shoved him away with one hand and quickly held me to him, tearing him off of me.

"Maximus, Harry is immune! His immunity won't let any witch bring him back. It's too strong, I'm sorry," Atticus yelled at him, his voice lowering immediately when he uttered the last line.

The realization was clear on Maximus' face, the blood draining from it as his eyes darted from here to there, a million thoughts rushing through his head. He stumbled back, dragging his hands through his hair as he let out a cry of frustration, finally breaking down. Seeing him cry made me cry too, my eyes falling on Harry's lifeless figure causing the realization of him actually being dead, hit me like a truck.

I felt my lungs scream for air as I began hyperventilating, my vision blurring with tears as noisy sobs began to leave my lips. I felt Atticus' arms wrap around my body, pulling me against his chest as I sobbed wildly, my body lurching with every cry as I felt the pain shred me from inside out. My mind tried to comprehend the fact that Harry was dead, lying there with his heart ripped out of his chest.

All I knew was that whomever did this to him was going to suffer a slow, painful death.

~-~

I stood there solemnly; staring at the dead body of the man I loved, lying on the bed of one of the guest rooms in my mansion. I had completely shut my emotions off just so that I could concentrate on finding a way to bring him back. There had to be a way. In the magical world, there was always a way.

In the room with me were Atticus, Rowena and Maximus. Jason was being used by the witches for interrogation on The Saviors and what their next move was going to be. The witches were ruthless now, and didn't allow Jason to be left alone to grieve for the death of his bestfriend.

"I don't get it, his immunity should've protected him if the glove Colton used was magical," Atticus spoke up quietly in slight confusion.

"It's a dark object," Maximus responded, his dead eyes flicking to Atticus. "Charmed using black magic."

"Harry's immunity can only protect him from normal magic, not dark magic," Rowena added with a somber look on her face, making Atticus swallow thickly and nod. 'Plus it won't bring him back since he was killed by something that was non-magical in a way."

"There has to be a way," I uttered quietly, her throat aching from sobbing endlessly for the past hour.

"Do you think we can talk to Lakshmi?" Atticus questioned softly, making me shake my head lightly. "To ask her more shit about immunity."

"When she found out Harry was 6 Man, she resented him. Still does."

"I'm going to go interrogate my mother then," Atticus announced, before disappearing out of the room.

With a sigh, I turned away and walked towards Maximus. My eyes met his, a sad expression etching onto my face. Without hesitation, I reached out and wrapped my arms around his shoulders, hugging him firmly. After a few seconds of standing there stiffly, he relaxed and wound his arms around my torso with a slight whimper.

"I'm sorry, Maximus," I whispered shakily, trying to stop the tears from leaking again. Maximus didn't respond, only hugging me firmer as I felt the tears roll down my cheeks. "He's never going to see the baby. The baby's never going to meet its father," I murmured with a tiny sob. "We're never going to see him again."

"Don't say that," Maximus managed to say, his voice breaking as he spoke. "We have to find a way."

"But-"

"You guys!" Atticus screeched while running into the room, startling all of us. "I compelled my mother to tell me something about immunity. Turns out that you can break it and get through it if you use enough power! I'm assuming the power Sage has should be enough, it'll tire you out but it's worth a shot."

"No," Maximus spoke up to our surprise before I could do so. We all shot him looks of confusion. "You trying to bring Harry back to life, someone with fucking immunity... You couldn't even bring Nymeria back," he shook his head. "It'll kill you; you'll need too much energy, too much power. It'll kill you and the baby. I won't allow it."

"How else are we gonna-"

"No!" he yelled at me in anger. "You've done enough," he said coldly. "I promised him I would protect you and that's what I plan on doing. You are not using your powers again."

"Maximus," Rowena shot him a tiny glare at his first words. "Listen, I'm sure if we get all the witches who have the power of resurrection to come together and bring him back to life, and if needed, channel us and use our power: I'm sure we can bring him back to life."

"So there is hope," Maximus muttered with a slightly relieved sigh, before Atticus cut in hesitantly.

"The only problem is how are we going to get the witches to bring Harry back? They hate him: he's 6 Man. They won't help for shit," Atticus reasoned, making me shake my head.

"No, they have to," I whispered desperately.

"They won't, Sage," Atticus said sadly, touching my shoulder.

"We can try," I said firmly. "Tell your mother to gather every single witch. If she says no, tell her it's an order from the Supreme."

~-~

"Absolutely not."

I wanted to cry in frustration at the constant rejection of my request by Esmeralda. Maximus, Jason and I stood in the middle of the area before the stairs, on which Esmeralda was stood before us with Aunt Sephy and Frida by her side. Surrounding us and behind them were the girls of the academy, all witches of different ages gazing down at us in disgust and slight anger. My case for Harry was hopeless; the witches resented him and thought that it was utterly stupid of me to even ask them to resurrect Harry. I could've used voodoo magic to bring him back but I didn't know how to do the spell, only Frida knew because it was very complex and Grams thought her how to do it. Frida obviously didn't want to help.

"Please, Esmeralda," I begged with tears leaking from my eyes, due to the frustration and the fact that I might not be able to get them to resurrect Harry. "He's regretted his actions and has changed his view on witches. Him and Maximus have helped this coven by giving information on The Saviors. He fucking died for it!"

"What he did in the span of those few weeks is not even close to enough to make up for all the atrocities he is responsible for! All the deaths of those innocent witches and Supremes, just because he has a reputation and an ego to maintain," Esmeralda snapped loudly, her icy blue eyes gazing intensely at me as I sniffled.

"You don't control all of these witches," Maximus spoke up in a low, cold voice. "They can speak for themselves. Whomever wants to help, can help. You don't have a say in what they want to do."

"And do you really think they want to help you?" Esmeralda scoffed loudly, folding her arms over her chest. "6 Man and The Gladiator, two of the most infamous witch hunters the girls over here have been taught about. We have classes on how to watch out for your kind. They know about all the barbaric things you've done to our people, do you seriously think they would want to help murderers like you and your brother?"

"We've both changed," Maximus uttered in an irritated, frustrated tone. "I know we cannot possibly do anything to completely make up for our crimes, but we want to try and that's what's important. But I need my brother," his tone changed to a more pleading, desperate one towards the end of his sentence, as a single tear rolled down his cheek. "Sage needs him, the baby needs him."

A few gasps arose from the crowd, a majority of them shooting me looks of shock and slight disgust due to the surprising news of my pregnancy.

"The baby will ask for its father and it will cause havoc when it finds out that you refused to bring him back," Maximus warned them coldly, eyes flashing when Esmeralda swallowed thickly at his words.

"Cause havoc?" she repeated in questioning, and that was when I spoke up.

"Assuming it's a girl, she will be the next Supreme. She's inherited my powers and Harry's immunity, as well as the voodoo power from my father's side. She will be powerful, and she will ask for her father once she learns the truth. Even if the baby isn't a girl, it will still have all that power. One day the coven will reach out to it for protection and help, and he or she will turn the other way," I spoke up in a firm voice, my face expressionless as Esmeralda and the others looked hesitant. It was working.

"Harry also knows something that we don't. Something about The Saviors, something about Colton, that will aid you in taking them down for good," Maximus said in a somber tone, his face holding an expression of utter seriousness.

"Is this true?" Esmeralda's icy irises snapped to mine, making me nod in response. I wasn't sure if Maximus was lying or not, but I played along.

"It is."

"And you don't know what this secret is?" she checked with Maximus, making him shake his head.

"Harry knows a lot about The Saviors, more than I know. He's very intelligent and valuable, we'll need him if we're going to attack The Saviors and those witches," I kept talking, feeling a little hope rise inside of me as I dipped into Esmeralda's mind and found her muddled thoughts. She was actually considering it.

"The Saviors are getting back-up. I know that for sure because Colton talked about doing so if the situation with Sage in the forest goes to shit," Jason added. "But the secret Harry knows is what will ultimately aid the coven in defeating The Saviors."

"We need to check if you are telling the truth about The Saviors first Maximus, then I will consider you decision. But if you are lying, there will be consequences," Esmeralda said ominously, making Maximus swallow thickly.

I made eye contact with him, giving him a look that indicated that I would take care of it. As Esmeralda dipped into his mind, I manipulated his thoughts into making what he knew about Harry's secret seem like the truth. I even created a false memory of a certain time where Harry told Maximus about how he knew something no Savior knew about The Saviors as a whole and Colton, just to make it more realistic.

When Esmeralda was done, she dismissed us after saying that she will make a decision and let us know what was going to happen. As Maximus and the rest of us waited patiently and anxiously for her decision, I managed to remove the spell I put on the force field with Aunt Sephy's help. I then proceeded with strengthening the force field with another voodoo spell since when I tried to use my own powers to do that, I felt my abdomen ache again. The pain was bearable as I've endured worse, but I was worried using my powers like this too much might affect the baby in a negative way.

I stood up after the spell was done, dusting my hands while looking up at the glowing red force field. A sigh escaped my lips as I turned to head back into the house, trailing behind Aunt Sephy whom hasn't really talked to me ever since I returned. I could feel the disappointment radiating off of her and it made me feel even more upset than I already was. As soon as I walked in, Atticus rushed towards me, grabbing my shoulders with wide eyes.

"She said she'll do it!" he exclaimed loudly, his words causing a huge flood of relief wash through me as I breathed out heavily with my hand against my heart. "She got a majority of the witches who have to agreed to use their powers of resurrection."

"Okay," I nodded in response. "But is she sure that immunity can be overcome with large amounts of power?"

Atticus bit his lip at my response, making slight worry flash across my features as he let out a heavy sigh.

"I read her mind and it said that there was a possibility it would work. It's worth a shot," he told me, making me swallow thickly and nod in response. "But we're gonna make it work, okay?" he told me reassuringly, squeezing my arms reassuringly.

"I just want him back, Atticus. I can't even begin to imagine what life would be like without him, especially with this baby coming along," I mumbled lowly, my tone full of emotion as Atticus pulled me against his chest and hugged me tight.

"Just don't think about it right now," he told me firmly, resting his chin on my head. "Just know that Rowena and I will be here for you all the time, so don't do something like you did with the whole 'I'm the mighty Sage, I can beat everyone', shit."

I pulled back to shoot him a tiny glare.

"I could've taken them," I told him firmly. "My powers were already half gone because of this baby." Atticus nodded in understanding, before he put his hands to my belly with a big grin on his face.

"I'm really excited for the baby, is it just me?" he said loudly, his pink lips stretching into a bright grin as I couldn't help but chuckle a little. "I'm gonna be the best fucking uncle ever!"

"You sure will, Atti," I told him honestly, placing my hand on top of his on my tummy. "Let's get going, when is it happening by the way?"

"They're preparing him for it right now," Atticus told me.

"It'll happen soon."

🔮🔮🔮

meh I'm not happy with this chapter and the way the reactions turned out, I'll probably edit it again.

But I guess the reason why why're not reacting as much to his death is because there's a chance he'll be brought back to life.

Remember guys

A CHANCE

What are your thoughts on this chapter and the previous one? Any questions? (Not ones that force me to give spoilers)
