🔮🔮🔮

S.E. // The 7th Supreme

   "Frida."

"Sage," a familiar voice whispered to me, a cool hand touching my cheek before drawing back to clutch my hand.

My eyes gently opened, a soft groan escaping my lips as I blinked once before keeping them open. Next to me seated on the bed was Aunt Sephy's older sister, Frida. She was a powerful voodooist, just like her mother, and ruled the community of voodooists in New Orleans with my grandmother as she was in need of help since she was growing older by the day.

"Where's Grams?" I murmured tiredly, trying to sit up before Frida pressed a hand to my shoulder.

"She sent me instead," Frida told me, gently pushing me back down, fussing that I needed to rest more.

I sighed deeply; scowling lightly at the slight headache I was experiencing at the moment. I tried to remember how I had gotten here, to my room, but I recall anything after I passed out. I made a mental note to ask Atticus or Aunt Sephy about it before my gaze caught Harry's t-shirt hanging off a chair. I immediately tugged my covers up, finding myself in a confortable pair of shorts and a tank top. Along with Harry's t-shirt, were my other clothes from the night we went out for dinner.

"Aunt Sephy told me a boy brought you to her door," Frida spoke up, bringing me out of my thoughts as my cheeks flushed. "Wanna tell me about him?" she smirked.

Frida was Aunt Sephy and my father's sister. She was less uptight than Aunt Sephy, wanting more for me to just go out and have fun and live my life, instead of worrying too much about being protected and the threat of The Saviors. Of course she cared about my protection, and if she was assigned as my legal guardian, she would've casted a couple of spells over myself to protect me. She would also teach me how to embrace the voodoo side of me, and only use my powers when necessary, turning to potions and spells more.

Aunt Sephy, even though born into a family known for voodooism, had powers just like me, and preferred sticking to witchcraft, which was different from voodoo. My mother was born into a family of witchcraft so when both my parents passed away, it was written in their will for me to be taken care of by Aunt Sephy under the protection of the witches rather than the voodooists.

Frida was greatly upset by this and often fought with Aunt Sephy, taunting her for choosing the white witches over her own kin. But Aunt Sephy followed what was written in the will and what my parents wanted since they knew what was best for me. It also mentioned me keeping in touch with my voodoo side, but concentrating more on witchcraft. Therefore I lived near Miss Castavet's School and visited Frida's voodoo community a couple of times.

"Sage," she sang with a smirk, pulling me out of my thoughts again. "I'm waiting."

"He's just a guy, Auntie. Nothing more," I shook my head with a slight smile, part of me worrying about what he thought when he found me in pain. But I pushed that aside, wanting to stay in the present and deal with Frida for now.

"Are you sure? Atticus told me he brought you into the house dressed up in his t-shirt and just your underwear," she chuckled in amusement as my cheeks flushed unnaturally.

"Frida," I groaned in embarrassment, feeling déjà vu as she laughed at my flushed face.

Frida always loved teasing me when it came to my 'love' life, or should I say sex life, because let's face it, my love life did not exist. Watching me writhe uneasily when she questioned me and pointed out signs that showed I had a wild night, always seemed to please her.

"I'm sorry, honey. But I'm sure he's not just a guy since he keeps visiting your house every day, worried sick about you," she reasoned, making me widen my eyes.

"How long have I been asleep for?" I asked her slowly.

"Almost three days," she answered shortly, making me gasp.

"Three days! What the fuck! This has never happened before-" I began to panic before she hushed me.

"Mind your language, Sage. Yes, this seems unusual but it's only because you aren't wearing that necklace your grandmother gave you," she told me, making me panic again. The lost necklace had completely slipped out of my head during the last couple of days. "Where is it?"

"I don't know," I mumbled. "The last time I saw it was around last Friday," I told her, biting my lip as I tried my hardest to think about where it could be. Could it have fallen off somewhere?

"That was a very powerful talisman, Sage. How could you have lost it?" she scolded me, making me look down in shame, fiddling with my fingers, almost suggesting that this incident with my 'migraines' was punishment for me losing the necklace.

"I'll do a spell to locate it, in the mean time, I charmed this ring. It's not as powerful as the necklace, but it will control most of the power until we find the necklace again," she told me, lifting my hand up and pressing a ring into my palm and closing my hand into a fist.

"Sage, this ring is a gift from me to you. It's going to protect you and it'll give you good luck. In moments where all hope is lost, I want you to look down at this ring and remember who you are. Sage Everett: the witch and voodooist, the Seventh Supreme and the most powerful witch in the world. Once you remember that, you can do anything," she spoke, her sentence ending in a mere whisper as she let go of my hand with a smile full of pride.

I was at a loss for words by the end of her tiny speech, my heart swelling up and lips parting in awe when I opened my hand and gazed at the beautiful ring in it. The sparkling moonstone in the middle of it caught my eye; it was in the form of a hexagon. It glinted brightly as I tilted it, the moonstone shifting color as if magic was running through the stone itself. I slid it onto my middle finger of my right hand, smiling down at it before I looked up at Frida.

"Thank you, Auntie Frida," I said to her in a genuine tone. "It's so beautiful, I love it," I told her honestly, grinning down at the ring.

"It was supposed to be your birthday present, but I guess it would serve even better now," she smiled back, before clapping her hands together. "I've got to go, dear," she announced, standing up and stretching her legs before she ducked down to press a kiss to my cheek.

"Do you have to leave so soon?" I questioned with a pout, frowning to myself when I suddenly realized the dull ache in my head had disappeared once I put the ring on.

"Yes, I'm afraid so. I've a voodoo museum to run," she winked at me, before walking towards the door. "Take care, Sage, and be safe!"

"Are you sure you can't find it anywhere?" I questioned with a frown, flipping my pillows as I tried to look for it.

"No, not at the moment. How're you feeling now by the way?" Rowena questioned in a concerned tone, setting my bed correctly after I had messed it up in frustration.

"Better, do you know what else Frida did? Other than giving me this charmed ring?" I asked her, wiggling my fingers as she arched her brows grabbing my hand to stare at the ring.

"Damn this is so pretty," she gaped in awe, before dropping my hand as she thought about an answer to my question. "Right, apparently she casted a couple of spells to contain the power inside of you, and stop the pain."

"Okay, and the ring is there to help control it," I added, nodding to myself. "Well I need to find this freaking necklace before Frida tries to locate it."

"Why? Just get her to locate it, it'll be easier," Rowena shrugged, plopping down on my bed with a tired huff.

"I dunno, I want to find it first," I described without much detail, before my phone went off. "Shit," I groaned lightly to myself, knowing that it was Harry.

Harry, as Frida said, had been trying to visit me for the past three days. He had been leaving multiple missed calls and messages, hoping that some sort of reply from me would comfort him. But for some reason I couldn't find it in myself to talk to him. Mainly because I was afraid of the questions he was going to ask. I couldn't tell him the real reason as to why I had terrible pains such as that. I didn't trust him to that extent where I would share my secret with someone who isn't an actual witch or warlock.

"Are you gonna answer that?" Rowena arched a brow at me, grinning at my scowl.

"I don't know what to say to him," I muttered, picking up the phone, feeling the vibrations of it against my palm.

"Right now he just wants to know if you're okay, so just tell him that," she told me, making me sigh and nod before sliding my thumb against the screen.

"Sage," Harry immediately spoke, almost breathing out in relief. "I've been trying to get ahold of you for days, are you okay?"

"Harry, I'm fine," I told him, a tiny smile drawing on my lips at his worried tone.

"Are you sure? You scared the fuck out of me that day!" he exclaimed, still not believing my words.

"Yes, babe, honestly, I'm feeling better now," I sighed a little, the nickname for him slipping out unintentionally. "S-Sorry," I mumbled, before smacking my forehead when he chuckled on the other side.

"Babe? That sounds hot coming from you," he said, giving me the impression that he was smirking like an idiot on the other line.

"Shut up you-you...frog," I blurted, before laughing at my own comment when he grumbled incoherent sentences under his breath.

"A frog? Really? Is that the best you can come up with?" he mocked, chuckling lightly before it grew a bit quiet. "Sage, I want to see you again. At least just to know that you're really okay," he mumbled into the phone, his tone quiet and pleading.

"You can come visit, Harry," I told him.

"And will you tell me then, why you were experiencing pains like that? I'm pretty sure that wasn't a migraine," he spoke, his words trying to indicate that he knew I was lying about having migraines.

   "We'll see," I sighed.

"Okay, I'll come after work today if you don't mind."

"That's fine, see you then, Harry."

"See ya, Sage. Take care," and with that he ended the call.

A frustrated groan left my lips as I plopped down on the bed, feeling like a damsel in distress as I pursed my lips and thought about what to say to Harry for when he would arrive later on in the day.

Harry Styles // 6 Man

"Jason, if this is about contacting Maximus I don't want to hear it," I warned lowly, pointing a finger at him when he approached me.

I began climbing up the stairs quickly, trying to ignore Jason as the only thing on my mind right now was Sage. I came back home to change into more comfortable clothes and to get her necklace before heading over to her place. Jason still insisted to send the necklace over to Colton for him to check it, but I had a feeling it was because Sage didn't have her necklace, she began getting those agonizing headaches. I couldn't care less about what the necklace meant, as long as it stopped that pain that Sage was receiving I was more than happy to give it back.

"Umm yeah, there's a problem about that," Jason muttered under his breath just as I swung the door of my bedroom open.

"What kind of problem?" I asked, turning my head back to face him as I walked through the door.

"See for yourself," Jason stopped in his tracks, nodding at whatever was behind me, inside my room.

"It's good to see you again, little brother," a sly voice spoke up, the familiar British accent of it making my ears perk up as I clenched my jaw and turned around.

"Maximus," I snarled, clenching my jaw at my troublesome half-brother.

He hadn't changed much since I last saw him. According to many people, we didn't look alike at all. Instead of my chocolaty curly hair, he had short ginger brown hair that curled ever so slightly on the top of his head. His eyes were icy blue, piercing and intimidating, somewhat like mine but a different color obviously. I suppose the few similarities we had were the sharp cheekbones and jawline, dimples and full abnormally pink lips.

He smirked his devious smirk, another similarity between the both of us: our infamous smirk and charm. Sporting a light grey Henley with dark blue rigid jeans, he tucked his hands into his pockets, turning his gaze to the numerous paintings I had done during the last two weeks. He stopped by one that I hadn't quite finished yet, one that I usually kept away in hiding, but this time I must've forgotten.

"Well, what do we have here?" he smirked in amusement, steely blue eyes flickering over the painting. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but this must be the Supreme, isn't it?" he chuckled humorously, shaking his head. Remember how I said I had new art inspiration? Yeah that was Sage.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" I questioned, walking into the room and getting on with what I had to do. "Does Colton even know you're here?"

"No, nor should it concern him," Max replied smoothly, plopping onto my bed. "She's giving you gifts now?"

"What?" I furrowed my brows, turning around from my open closet, only to spot him dangling Sage's necklace from his fingers with a smirk. "Give that to me!"

"Come and get it," he snickered, making me growl and pounce onto him.

"I'm serious Max! Give it back!" I shouted, clamping a hand down onto his face as I clambered onto him.

We continued to fight for the necklace, getting rougher by the second as he suddenly shoved my chest powerfully with a loud sadistic chuckle. I growled in frustration, pulling him off the bed and slamming him against a wall. My arm was pressed up against his neck, my other hand pinning the hand with the necklace against the wall as well.

"You two fight like five-year olds! Honestly!" Jason chided from behind me, coming over to take the necklace from Max, who was still smirking at me.

Jason pulled me away, pressing a hand to my chest to create space between Maximus and I, but our gazes still burned into each other's. I broke the gaze when my phone vibrated in my pocket, my mind suddenly reminding me I still had to go and visit Sage. I took the necklace from Jason's hand and tucked it into the pocket of my jeans before taking that along with me, and a plain white t-shirt to the bathroom.

"You are not going anywhere near her," I pointed a finger at Maximus who lay on my bed with his arms behind his head. "I'm warning you."

"As if that's going to stop me," Max chuckled.

"Tell me again, why the fuck are you here?" I stopped in my tracks, folding my arms over my chest as I gazed at him expectantly.

"Mainly because Niall Horan, that leprechaun, called me saying that you needed help. So here I am!" he grinned sarcastically, as if expecting me to jump with joy since my big brother was here.

"That cunt," I muttered under my breath, before my gaze darted to Jason.

"What? Don't look at me, he must've overheard us talking that day," he shrugged as I groaned lightly under my breath in frustration, pressing my palm to my forehead.

"How much do I have to pay you to leave?" I asked Maximus in a serious tone, causing mine to laugh out loud.

"You're not getting rid of me that easily, brother," he smirked devilishly, taking off the black titanium ring with The Saviors motto on it. He set it down onto the side before pulling out a necklace slightly different to my simple silver cross necklace similar to mine, and wearing it. "I promise you I won't take over your mission and kill that Supreme myself, I'm only here to set you straight and stop you from straying away from the real goal: which is learn about the Supreme and her coven, and then kill her. Do I make myself clear?"

   "Crystal clear."

"Good," Maximus smiled, jumping off the bed and heading towards the door.

I sighed lightly to myself when he left the room, contemplating on whether to believe him or not. Even though he was the most frustrating and vicious person I knew, he was my brother after all and his morals when it came to protecting his family were always strong. So, at this moment I decided to take his word, and hope that he could set me straight and tell me how to control my heart when it came to Sage.

🔮🔮🔮

sorry for the boring chapter, it was a filler sigh*

💀 Any more thoughts on Maximus? He becomes more of a main character later on, do you think he's a good or bad character?

judging from the last chapter, I didn't explain whether Harry was being genuine or not. He was worried about Sage and still is, especially in this chapter. Also, art is his hobby and passion so when Sage listens to him ranting about it he gets genuinely happy because no one does that with him. This is one of the reasons he falls for her.

Until we meet again...
