Meanwhile in Meghpur, it was noon, a beautiful, glamorous-looking lady officer was conducting a highway check post. She had a lot of stars and ribbons. Arshi Zafira Khan was the name in her police badge. As the truck passed, a young farmer arrived with his bullock cart. Arshi was so disgusted by the smell of the cow dung that she stopped him and checked behind his royal cart. It was a sack full of seeds, plants, muds and cow dungs. Furthermore, there were shovels and scissors in the side. Lastly, there were a lot of talismans on the corner that angered her more. She walked out and asked the farmer "Where are you going?"
"To Meghpur, my home," replied the farmer.
"What are these talismans for?" asked Arshi, the police officer.
"It's to get away from the demon!" begged the farmer.
"Demons? Are there such things as evil spirits? I believe they die and go to the heaven," said Arshi.
"Some may've crave for revenge. Who knows?" said the farmer.
"This is forgery! You shouldn't use a talisman," said Arshi angrily.
"Ma'am, don't you remember about the fisherman incident?" said the farmer kindly.
"He was killed with a burning acid,"
"Ma'am, there's more than heaven and earth!"
"Stop your filmy dialogues! And go!" said Arshi.
The farmer walked away with the bullock cart. Arshi was tired of investigating the issues that were revolved around Meghpur. Supernatural and science are both friends and foes. She might be a practical person but may change her life to open up some perceptions about the difference between every reality that people have. Also, she was working under the orders of Khalil Miyah as a security of Meghpur, despite being a traffic police. She was quite tired of listening to ghost sightings and continuous murders. It was a tiring experience!
Now, it's nighttime, two incidents would come in the same patch of time. The first incident was maybe, a love story-turned-bitter. In the village, a naïve girl was going to a pharmacy shop afternoon. Her father, Masoom was bedridden due to a minor paralysis advised her only to come back before six o clock. Unfortunately, the shop was a bit far from her house. She quickly rushed off by giving a rickshaw fare. Then she reached off to the pharmacy and bought her father, Masoom's meds. It was cold and foggy. She worried as she got out, the shutter got closed and the shop owner left. On that while, a pretty, mysterious but unnaturally thin, shadowy boy in a white shirt was passing with his Royale Enfield bike. It stunned her with disbelief, as her desire grew more into an attraction. He dropped into her stop.
"Haven't you seen a bike before?" asked the white shirted man.
"I've seen all...but not this one" said the girl.
"You're as beautiful as an Iranian girl! Your just mesmerized me with your red lips that are as soft as a cherry" said the flirtatious dirty shirted man.
To be honest, over the years, I've become quite critical of puppy love represent by the filmmakers and storytellers. Maybe, they weren't executed properly or maybe, it's not my taste. Well, most people nowadays are too involved to it. Cringe-worthy indeed! The girl was quickly blushed with her 'silly love' towards the white shirted man. He gave a slight grin, then gave her a blue flower.
"What's your name, girl?" asked the shadowy man.
"Zuleikha," said the girl with a blush.
"I've seen a lot of beautiful women. Some are kind, some are too confused and most are vile. I haven't seen someone like you who's helping her father's illness" said the mysterious man.
"How do you know?" asked Zuleikha, the girl.
"I have connections. Anyway, would you like to have a ride?" asked the man.
"Sure, why not?" said Zuleikha with a smile on her face.
Zuleikha quickly fell for him so much that she mounted the bike behind him. On the way, he turned to the silent highway on the forest streets of Meghpur. She was shivered with cold and the motorbike's sound was a bit vague. She was smiling while the male figure was aggressively numbed. On that while, Arshi was patrolling on the streets and on her way to Khalil's guest house, she looked at the couple riding a bike into the highway forest.
Zuleikha was listening to the transistor switched on by the shadowy man. The track was 'if the path never ends/ei poth jodi na shesh hoy tobe kemon hoto'. It was a popular track in the Bengali region but why was the song track from the late 70s to 80s tuning in the midst of the forest, with the transistor in it? The breeze was so cold that she shivered. Until, they stopped at an abandoned graveyard. It was more than dead and wasn't maintained for a long time. It was covered by veins and bushes. The motorbike crashed. He dismounted the bike, looking at the engine and took out the tools for the bike from his leather bag.
"What happened?" asked Zuleikha.
"The engine's a bit runny. I tried to fix it for the last 35 years" said the mysterious man.
"Last 35 years? You're kidding aren't you?" giggled Zuleikha.
Suddenly, the mysterious man gave him a cold but dead stare that, stunned the innocent Zuleikha out of disbelief. He approached her like a snake's tail with a poisonous rage. His ghostly eyes turned scarlet, his teeth turned into a vampire and grabbed Zuleikha like a predator for its hunt. Poor Zuleikha was weeping like a naïve child who just wants to go home.
"I AM AZAD!" said the growling voice slowly.
On the other side, in the bamboo forest, opposite of the graveyard Arshi was petrified to look at the scene. Her eyes and mouths were wide. Now that she believed at the murders and demon possessions, the ghost turned into a smoke and Zuleikha was fainted. Arshi ran near Zuleikha's body. Looking at her wallet, she return her home. Her father looked shocked.
"What happened to my daughter?" said Zuleikha's father, Mr. Jabbar.
"Ghost sightings, Mr. Jabbar. Don't worry, she'll be fine," said Arshi.
Arshi was about to leave but stopped by Mr. Jabbar.
"No, she's possessed! She already smelled the dead blue flower" said Arshi.
It astonished her more. She might hear stories about these from her friends and colleagues. However, she dismissed it as false, until she saw that, she began to believe in the supernatural. She couldn't imagine that but that incident changed her whole life.
For now, in the middle of the village and it was already dark. The young farmer was cleaning the farm. Ama Didi was looking at the full-white moon that shaped like a ying-yang, while sitting in the rocking chair. Ama Didi called "Arshad!"
The young farmer, Arshad entered her room.
"Did the police officer, what's her name again? Oh...Arshii! Did she ceased your talismans?" asked Ama Didi.
"No, Ama Didi" said Arshad.
"Good" said Ama Didi.
The old lady in the wooden rocking chair, looking at the moonlight. She was amazed about its transformation that since her son, Mizan died and daughter-in-law vanished, the full moon rose to the core. Arshad was staring at her with her certain madness, rising beyond than imagined. Despite being a loyal caretaker to Ama Didi, he wanted to know the deeper meaning of the world. However, he was silenced due to Ama Didi's growing blast of insanity.
"Arshad, remember, 'The Hour' is coming!" said Ama Didi.
Arshad was stunned.
