The dad - Luke (part 7)

I sighed as I shut the door, but immediately heard yelling. My eyebrows furrowed as I put down my bag and took off my coat before following the sound of voices.

"This is the sixth tour since I was born!" I heard Liz yell.

"I know, but it's my job, there's nothing I can do about it!" I walked into our bedroom to see Luke and Liz.

"What's going on?" I asked, causing them to both look at me.

"Dad's going on another tour." She choked. I looked at Luke to see him sighing at me.

"Yeah, honey, I know, but part of your dad's job is going on tours with your uncles for their fans." I tried to reassure her, but she just shook her head.

"Oh, so now his fans are more important than his own daughter?" she choked.

"Liz, come on, that isn't fair." Luke groaned.

"How is it not fair?! What's not fair is my dad not being there for any of my important life experiences, not being there for my birthdays, not being there for my school events and competitions, should I continue?!" she spat.

"That's not fair either, you know that I try my hardest to get to all of your important events and birthdays!" He retaliated.

"Yeah, right." She scoffed. Luke looked at me for help.

"Liz, honey, your dad always tries his hardest to be there for you because he loves you so much-."

"Really? Because it doesn't feel like it." She snapped. Luke's eyes widened at her words.

"Liz, you are being completely unfair on your dad." I scoffed. She looked between us.

"Whatever." She returned the scoff before barging past me and out of the room.

"Liz-."

"Leave her." Luke muttered. I turned around to see him rubbing his hands over his stubble.

"That's the first fight that we've had. The fourteen years that she's been alive, that's the first fight that we've ever had and it's because she feels like I'm abandoning her for my job." He choked.

"Look at me, babe." I spoke. He shook his head.

"Look at me." I repeated as I took his face in my hands. He sighed as his eyes met mine.

"You're not abandoning her, okay? She knows that, she's just going through, you know, teenage shit. These are the toughest years of everyone's lives and she's just getting upset about this. She'll be okay." I reassured.

"No, she won't-."

"Yes, she will." I nodded. He sighed before smiling gently and joining our lips briefly.

"I'm going to go talk to her." He mumbled as he passed me and opened the bedroom door.

"Babe, is that really a good idea-."

"Y/N, I'm leaving tomorrow morning for another two months, I'm not leaving with my only child pissed off at me." He cut in. I sighed and nodded. He returned it, leaning forward again and kissing my head before heading towards Liz's room.
