Calum
I slowly walked into the house and looked around. I sighed as the house appeared ransacked, like the other hundred that I had come across on the road. I got out my knife, just in case. I walked into the kitchen and opened all of the cupboards.
"Fuck, yes." I smiled as I opened a cabinet to reveal several tins of food. I took my bag off of my shoulders and shoved the tins in before putting the bag back onto my back. I walked into the hallway and looked around. I looked in the mirror and grimaced at the sight. My face was caked with dirt and my hair was ratty, with several strands no longer tied up.
"Wow. I look like shit." I mumbled to myself.
"Yeah, you do." I whipped around and raised my knife so that it was pressed into the neck of the boy.
"Woah, woah." He chuckled as he held his hands up in defence.
"Who are you?" I gulped.
"My name's Calum, and you're sort of in my house." He nodded. I looked around.
"I think you should leave." He spoke.
"Oh, I'm not going anywhere." I scoffed, pressing the knife further against his skin.
"Okay, okay, let's not do anything drastic, if you kill me, you know I'll come back." He warned.
"So? I have a gun." I lied.
"No, you don't." he chuckled. I sighed.
"Lower the knife, and you can stay." He spoke. I sighed again and lowered the knife whilst he rubbed his neck.
"What's your name?" he asked.
"Y/N, you?" I responded.
"I'm Calum. You got a camp?" he questioned. I nodded.
"Can I go back with you?" he asked. I scoffed.
"I'm not the one in charge, and I'll be kicked out if I bring you back-."
"Please. I've been alone for months and I ran out of ammo last week." He begged. I sighed.
"Fine. We leave in the morning." I muttered, making him smile.
"Oh, and just for the record, you look just as bad as I do, if not worse." I called back.
"I had that coming." He chuckled as I walked into the kitchen.
Luke
"Shit." Luke mumbled as the car slowed down.
"What?" I asked.
"We're out of petrol." He sighed. My eyes widened at him.
"Are you fucking kidding me? You said we had enough." I spat.
"I know I did, Ashton said that we had enough." He huffed.
"Luke, we're miles away from camp, the sun is setting, and there's a herd of walking heading our way." I snapped.
"I know we're in shit, Y/N, there's no need to remind me." He hissed.
"Don't you fucking dare try to pin this on me-."
"Y/N, we are going to die if we keep fighting and don't get away, so what do you want to do?" he snapped, making me sigh.
"You're right. Grab your gun, come on." I spoke before opening the car door and climbing out.
"We need to find petrol, have you got the pump?" I asked as I held my gun close to my chest.
"Yeah. I'll see if I can get any." He mumbled. I nodded before climbing onto the roof of the car and looking around.
"You got anything yet?" I yelled to Luke.
"Nothing. I reckon these cars were ransacked months ago." He called back. I sighed as I saw a walker heading for Luke.
"Duck!" I yelled. He did and I pulled the trigger, forming a hole in the walker's head.
"Thanks." He shouted. I nodded before turning back the other way. My eyes widened as I saw the herd.
"Oh, shit!" I yelled as I jumped down off of the roof of the car and grabbed mine and Luke's bags.
"What?" he asked.
"The herd is hell of a lot closer than we thought. We need to move now." I spoke as I threw him his bag. He grabbed it and swung it onto his shoulder before looking at me.
"Run."
Michael
I held my gun close to my chest as I walked the length of the wall that protected our camp from the outside.
"What's up, loser?" I turned around to see Calum climbing up the ladder to join me on watch duty.
"Hey, dork." I smiled. He chuckled before his eyes drifted to past the wall and then widened.
"Fuck." He mumbled as he raised his gun. I looked over and saw a blue-haired man sprinting towards the gate and away from the herd that was quickly approaching.
"Open the gate!" I yelled as I started firing at the walkers.
"Y/N, are you fucking crazy?! It's one guy, there's a hundred people in this camp and two hundred walkers coming for us." Calum hissed.
"I don't give a shit, you know the rules, we're stronger with more people." I spat before rushing down the ladder.
"Run!" I yelled at the man. He sprinted through the gate as I shot at the walkers.
"Close the gate!" I shouted. I looked down at the man.
"What's your name?" I asked as I pointed the gun at him.
"I'm-woah, woah, I'm not going to hurt you." He puffed.
"Answer the question." I demanded.
"I'm Michael." He spoke, making me nod.
"How the fuck did you get a whole herd of walkers on your tail?" I asked. He sighed as he stood up.
"I'm not entirely sure. I shot one from close range and they all piled up." He spoke. My eyes widened.
"Why the hell did you shoot it? Why didn't you just stab it-."
"Hey, I'm sorry, I'm new to surviving by myself." He mumbled, looking down.
"What happened?" I asked. He sighed.
"My camp got overrun. I had enough time to grab a knife and a gun, and that was it. I was the only survivor." He muttered.
"I'm sorry to hear that, that's how I ended up here. But you're safe now." I reassured.
"Thanks." He smiled.
Ashton
I opened my eyes and looked around. Ashton's side of the bed was empty, like usual. I sat up and frowned as I heard shouting and screaming. I quickly got up and grabbed my knife and gun before putting them in the holsters that were attached to my thighs. I opened the front door and my eyes widened. People were running around, frantically trying to escape the walkers. I looked around and my throat tightened as the gate was opened and there was a gaping hole in the wall.
"Shit." I mumbled as I got out my gun and started to shoot. I ran around, shooting as many walkers as I could.
"Y/N!" I whipped around to see Ashton at the doorway to one of the houses.
"I'll cover you!" he yelled as he raised his gun. I nodded and sprinted towards the house as Ashton shot the walkers. I got into the house and slammed the door shut.
"Thank god that you're okay." He sighed, tightly hugging me.
"Same goes for you. Who else is safe?" I asked.
"Luke, Calum and Michael got caught in the armoury when all hell broke loose, so they've got enough supplies to last them and enough weapons to take out a fair number of walkers." He explained. I looked outside.
"What happened?" I choked.
"The camp got overrun." He sighed, making me hold back tears.
"Come on." I mumbled as I grabbed the backpack that was sat on the counter and started to pack it.
"What are you doing?" Ashton asked.
"Grab as much as you can, we need to go." I spoke as I swung the bag onto my back. Ashton grabbed my arm.
"Y/N, we can't just leave-."
"We have to, Ash." I spoke. He looked at me.
"Me, you, the boys, and a handful of others are the only ones who know how to survive in the outside world. As much as I hate it, half the camp is already dead, so we need to move. We'll meet the boys outside." I said. He sighed and nodded.
"Let's go." He mumbled as he opened the door.
Luke
I opened my eyes and yawned as I looked around. I sat up and rubbed my eyes as I saw Luke sitting by the fire.
"Hey." I mumbled. He looked at me and smiled.
"Morning, babe." He spoke before leaning forward and kissing me.
"What's on the agenda today?" I asked as I put Luke's flannel on over my vest top.
"Well, I killed twenty walkers during the night. We need to move, it's too risky now." He sighed. I returned it.
"Okay. Let's start packing." I nodded before stuffing everything into our bags.
Luke and I walked through the empty street, hand in hand. I gulped as I looked around cautiously.
"You okay?" Luke asked.
"Yeah, something just doesn't feel right." I mumbled. He sighed and looked up. His eyes widened.
"You may be right." He muttered. I looked up and gulped as two cars drove towards us.
"Get behind me." Luke mumbled, gently pushing me behind him. I nodded, watching as the cars came to a halt. The passenger door opened and a blue-haired man climbed out.
"Who are you?" Luke asked.
"We come in peace." The man chuckled.
"Who are you?" I asked again.
"We're with a camp. Our job is to seek out people like you, people who need a camp to go to. We can help you." He nodded. Luke looked at me.
"What do you think?" he mumbled. I sighed.
"I don't think we have a choice." I gulped. He returned it and gently squeezed my hand before looking at the man.
"Okay. We'll come with you." Luke nodded.
"Good man." The blue-haired man smiled before getting back into the car. Luke looked at me again before walking us to the car.
