Mouth to Mouth
Calum's POV:
"KIKO!" I yell at the top of my lungs, fear stinging my senses as both Kiko and Michael disappear into the raging water, "Ashton we gotta go help them!"
"W-we can't just leave Luke here!" Ashton stutters, frantically trying to pull Luke in the direction of the shed.
I quickly kneel down, both Ashton and I carrying Luke to the shed as fast as we can before shutting the door and taking off. The water is freezing cold and the current is incredibly strong... This is going to be highly difficult.
"Do you see them anywhere?" I call out to Ashton over the sound of water splashing. He shakes his head, his jaw tightening as we continue down the river.
"MICHAEL! KIKO!" Ashton shouts, looking carefully for the two.
"GUYS!" I hear a faint call, seeing that Michael has his hold on fallen tree branch.
Ashton sprints to his aid, grabbing his arms and pulling him out of the water. I scan the surroundings, seeing no sign of Kiko what so ever. Where is she?
"I let go," Michael shivers, his eyes wide, "I didn't mean to,"
"Where is she?" I ask in a stern tone, seeing Michael squeeze his eyes shut.
"She was right there! I had her! That fücking wave!" He curses, covering his face with his hands.
I start to sprint further down the river, screaming her name over and over again. If Michael could grab onto to something she could too, right?
My eyes widen as I reach a bend in the river, a waterfall marking the end. No, she couldn't have. I look to the shore, seeing her small body washed up onto the rocks. Thank god.
"KIKO! Over here!" I yell to her, hoping to see some sign of movement. She sits still so I call for her again.
Why isn't she moving?
I quickly make a break for a pattern of rocks that would allow me to make it to her. Without making the mistake Michael and Kiko made, I cross the river and sprint towards the waterfall.
"Kiko?," I ask frantically, "are you okay? Hello?!"
I kneel down beside her in the shallow water, soaking my black pants. When she doesn't move an Inch, I gently pick up her limp body and bring her to dry land.
"Can you hear me?" I say to her, hoping for a response.
I carefully put her down in the soft grass, patting her face with my hand. She's freezing cold. Her lips have turned blue, as well as her skin looking terribly pale. What if she's turning.
"She could have water in her lungs," I whisper to myself, putting one hand over the other to prepare for CPR.
It was thirty compressions and two breaths right? Whatever, let's just hope for the best.
I begin the compressions, not even caring about breaking her ribs, only the simple fact of keeping her alive. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be here right now, and if it weren't for her presence I think I'd go crazy.
Something about her just keeps me sane, no matter how annoying she can be sometimes.
"C'mon Kiko," I say before tilting her head and chin up.
I breath in, pressing my lips against her and inflating her lungs. Kiko's chest rises and then falls, still no sign of life apparent.
"Please don't die on me," I plead, going back to my compressions.
After thirty, I put my mouth on hers again and exhale as much air as I can into her lungs. I pull away, praying to the heavens that she will wake up and hug me.
A gasp leaves my lips when she suddenly sits up with a cough, water pouring down her chin and onto her lap. She lifts her hands to her chest, sucking in air shakily, pain evident with each breath. I probably broke one of her ribs.
"Ca-Calum?" She stutters weakly, her green eyes just barely focusing on me.
"Kiko, you're okay," I tell her, lifting her off the ground.
"I-I'm s-s-s-so cold," she shivers, grabbing onto my t-shirt and nuzzling her face into my neck. She looks so cute when she lets her guard down...
"We'll get you back to the boys and get some warm clothes for you," I say, being extra careful getting across the river.
"Can I tell you something, Calum?" She whispers into my neck.
"Anything,"
"I think I might trust you," she says, catching me off guard. I mean, she was the one who said she'd never ever trust us back at our cabin.
"You might?" I ask, looking down at her.
"Well I think I do... But I'm too scared to admit it..." She trails off, " I kind of just did but..."
I can tell by her face that she's not entirely here, probably still in shock from the freezing water. As much as I would like all of this to be true, I know that what she's saying might just be because of her current state.
"And I trust you too, Keeks," I whisper, seeing a small smile form on her face.
"KIKO!" I hear Michael yell, "is she alive?"
I nod my head, still feeling a bit angry with him for being so foolish. He shouldn't have taken it upon himself to use Kiko for support... He injured himself anyway.
"Michael?" I hear Kiko say faintly, she forcing me to set her down as she hugs Michael.
A slight ping of jealousy shoots through my stomach and heart, but I find it within myself to push it away. Kiko would never fall for a guy like Michael, especially since he treats her so badly.
"I'm so sorry," Mikey whispers into her hair as they continue to hug. Geez, even Michael isn't in the right mindset today.
"Ow," Kiko utters, grasping her chest.
"What's wrong with her?" Ashton asks, making his way out of the shed to check on her.
"I had to preform CPR," I inform them, "so I had to press on her ribs,"
"You mean to tell me that you gave her mouth to mouth?" Michael asks sternly, his eyes blazing. Now this is weird... Usually Michael doesn't show any emotion...
"To save her!" I snap, "now we need to get her into some dry clothes!"
"You aren't undressing her you perv," Michael growls, picking Kiko up himself.
"Neither are you!"
"I think I can do that on my own," Kiko mumbles, her shaking hands rubbing her eyes.
Both Michael and I blush as he sets her down. Ashton then comes over and hands her a long sleeved grey shirt along with some black pants. I watch as she weakly makes it around to the back of the shed, Michael and I eyeing each other and the woods to protect Kiko.
I never thought Michael might actually have feelings for her...
Kiko stumbles out in her new clothes, her hand constantly holding her chest as she makes her way into the shed. I watch as she sits down next to Luke, laying her head down on his chest and putting his arm around herself.
There goes another ping of jealousy.
"Kiko?" A faint, but present, voice whispers. We all look down to Luke whose eyes flutter open.
"LUKE HOLY SHÏT!" Ashton smiles, dropping down to hold his hand.
"What happened to Kiko?" Luke asks, brushing her wet hair. Does he have feelings for her too?! What the hëll?
"She fell into the river," I mumble.
"What river?" He furrows his eyebrows.
"It's a long story," Michael says.
"Whatever, Luke does anything hurt?" Ashton asks quickly.
"My leg and head," Luke replies.
"I'll stay up to watch him mates," Ashton confirms, nodding his head to himself.
"Ash, I'd turn off that flashlight if I were you. We don't don't want to attract attention," I tell him, he following my suggestion.
The shed turns pitch black, none of us being able to see each other. The image of Kiko in Luke's arm pops into my mind, making the jealous feeling return. This can't be good.
"Actually, you might want to be able to see Luke in order to watch over him. We wouldn't want him passing out again," I ramble awkwardly, the boys mumbling "it's fines," to me.
I hate the fact that I can't see Kiko...
Suddenly, the door to the shed bursts open. The moonlight illuminating a figure standing in the doorway. It can't be a walker, so it must be a person...
"Who the hëll are you?" Michael growls, turning his flashlight on and standing.
