Part 14.

Roman's POV

"How long has it been? I haven't seen the sun in years. The darkness surrounds me, pulling me into insanity. I'm going to die here and no one will know my story. No one-" "We've been here for thirty minutes Roman, please shut up." "Well, it's not my fault I'm bored!" I said, looking over to Logan. He was pacing back and forth in his cell and had been for the last ten minutes. Patton had fallen asleep earlier on, and I'd been lying on this disgusting floor. Nothing had happened. No one has come to torture us for answers, no guards have come to gloat about their victory, nothing. The only remoting entertaining moment was when Logan woke up and swore. He never does that, so I got a good chuckle.

~Ten Minutes Later~

"Okay, let's see. If Finding Nemo had been realistic, Marlin would have changed genders after the death of his partner and mated with Nemo." "There was no way that's true!" Logan merely shrugged. "You asked for a fun fact." "HOW IS THAT FUN?!?"

~5 Minutes Later~

Patton jumped up excitedly, "Okay, my turn! I spy with my little eye......... Virgil?" "That isn't how you play Patton, you're supposed to-" "No, it's Virgil!" I sat up and looked where he was pointing and low and behold, it was Virgil and he brought two other guards with him. "That one." he said while pointing at me. The two guards walked towards my cell and opened the door. "What's going on, what are you going to do with me?" I asked and eyed the guards suspiciously. They didn't answer, just removed the chain from the floor that was connected to my hands, grabbed it, and began dragging me out of the cell. "What are you doing!? Let him go! Please!" Patton tried to make them let me go, but neither of them spared him a glance. They began to drag me down the hallway, leaving Logan, Patton, and Virgil behind. We headed deeper into the facility. I looked around to try and figure out where we were but nothing looked familiar to me. Finally, we entered a stone room with a mirror on one wall, an operating table in the middle, a vat of goo next to it, and lots of monitors. There were also scientists running around the room. The guard holding my chained hands yanked them forward so I stumbled and was led over to the table. They shoved me down and that's when I really began to panic. I thrashed around, trying to free myself as they strapped my legs down to the table. Some more guards came in and began to try and hold me down. Two of them grabbed my shoulders. Two more grabbed my arms and another separated the glowing metal. My arms were then strapped to the table. Finally, they put a strap around my neck, mouth, and stomach. Once they were done, I could no longer move. Then the scientists advanced on me. They hooked me up to a bunch of monitors and one of them prepared my arm for an IV. When they backed away, the door opened and Deceit walked in with another man. The man had his head bowed to hide his face and was wearing civilian clothes. I glared at them and tried to break free but I couldn't with the restraints. Deceit walked over to me and filled a syringe with the goo. He glanced back at the man who walked over and stood behind my head so I couldn't see him. The syringe was then given to a scientist who injected it into my arm. I began to feel woozy as it traveled through my veins and my eyes began to shut. As my consciousness began to slip away, a hand was placed on my forehead and a familiar face appeared in front of me but that was the last thing I saw before slipping into unconsciousness.

~Rewind 5 Minutes~

Virgil's POV

I don't remember much, there was light, darkness, then light every now and then, then back to the darkness. Now I'm here.........I'm just floating. I hurt all the time and I'm tired, so tired.

There are voices everywhere. They are loud. They are harsh. They are quiet. They are soft. And I remembered eyes. They were brown. Familiar. The crack is larger but I hide from it now. There is too much light. It's too bright! I want the darkness to come back.

The crack is widening. There is more light. More voices. A warmth. Warmth and light are coming from the crack. I remember the warmth. They are the light. I want to go back.

I float over to the crack. I needed to widen it. I need to get out! I can push my hand through. The darkness is lessening. Everything is grey. The crack is larger, both hands are through. I'm pushing, pushing myself through. I must escape! I can hear them, they're calling me.

I woke up on a stone floor with a pounding headache. I pushed myself up onto my knees before rising to my feet. I looked around and saw a bunch of cells. "Virgil, you alright?" I turned around and noticed that there were more cells behind me. Patton and Logan were there too. "Pat? Logan? What are you doing here? Actually, what am I doing here? Where even is here?" Questions came spilling out my mouth as I made my way over to them. "Do you not remember? You were a bad guy, this is their base." Patton said looking at me, scared and concerned. "I.... no I don't. All I remember was falling off the cliff. Then there.... There was this box, but it cracked and now I'm here? What is going on? I should be dead? Logan?" I asked, looking over at him for answers but he just shrugged. "Wait, where's Roman? Shouldn't he be with you guys?" Patton and Logan exchanged a look before Logan spoke up. "We don't know where he is, you came earlier and had two guards take him away. Then you just stood there," he said before gesturing over to where I woke up. "Well, then we need to find him!" I said before seeing if I had any keys on me to unlock their cells. "But how? Logan has a suppressor on and I'm almost out of energy. What can we do?" asked Patton. I sighed, knowing he was right. "Okay well, I don't have any keys so I could go look for them?" I asked looking between the two. Patton nodded but Logan spoke up. "Can you remove this?" He asked, motioning the weird glowing metal wrapped around his head. "Maybe." I replied and walked over to his cell. He moved closer to the bars so I could get a better look. Even though I thought  I'd never seen it before, it looked familiar. I put my arms through the bars and moved them to the back of his head. I felt a clasp back there as well as a keypad. It was as if my fingers had a memory of their own as they input a code and the clasp unlocked. The suppressor fell off his head and he motioned for me to step back. Once I was a suitable distance away from him, he moved his hands in front of the bars and pushed them apart. Then he slipped through and walked over to Patton's cell. As he was pushing the bars apart, I heard footsteps behind me. I quickly turned around ready to fight but all I saw was Remus. "Hello you, you seem awake. Lovely! You should go before the boss man finds out." I nodded and turned to Logan and Patton, who were waiting for me. But I turned back to look at him, "Remus, when I was 'asleep' I think I was still in there. Maybe you can reach him, find his spirit, or something." He nodded happily. I then turned to the others and we ran.
