Octavinelle's Comfort Dish (Day 6 - Domestic)
Nobody likes being sick. That includes Jade.
He didn't like curling up in a fetal position with an upset stomach. His sheet felt gross with sweat and vomit that he threw up when he felt the bathroom was too long of a journey. He felt hot but he was shivering at the same time and the blanket didn't help at all.
The door to the bedroom was opened but Jade could barely hear the sound. But he can smell a bit. A familiar scent.
"You're awake?" A hand suddenly touched his sweaty forehead. Jade opened his eyes slowly and smiled weakly at his dearest.
"Trey..." he mumbled. Wow, even his voice sounded hoarse.
Trey smiled back. "How are you feeling?"
Jade groaned. "Five... Out of ten... Maybe..."
Trey nodded. "A bit better than this morning?" Jade nodded slowly to avoid any sudden headache.
"You think you can get up for me?" Trey asked.
Jade scrunched his eyes but still tried. His movement was sloppy and he nearly slipped if it weren't for Trey holding him. Trey fluffed his pillow and put it against the head of the bed frame. Jade let out a sigh when he was able to lean back. Trey then took out a folded table, setting it above Jade's lap then put a tray on top of it.
Jade had to smile. "Mushroom seafood soup?"
Trey chuckled, sitting on a chair next to the bed. "The simplest dish you served back in Mostro Lounge, isn't it?"
"It is true." Jade took a spoonful into his mouth. He sighed. "It tastes just like back then."
"I've been practicing."
"You've done well." Jade kept eating the soup. It was strange how he was hungry. Aren't sick people usually had a hard time eating? But he couldn't stop eating this. The spices and seafood bits (prawn and squid) blended perfectly and the temperature was warm enough to not burn his tongue. Eating this gave such a nostalgic feels. Reminding him of his high school days, back when the trio was still together not separated like now. But he didn't feel lonely, because his high school sweetheart, Trey, ended up marrying him.
He didn't leave a single drop of the soup that warmed his stomach and heart. Trey gently patted his lips with some tissue to clean the extra drips.
"Thank you," Jade said, "It was delicious."
Trey smiled. "Anytime." He set the tray aside on the nightstand and folded the table again. He tucked Jade under the blanket again, running his hand through the long teal hair, humming a soft lullaby.
Jade's eyes felt heavy again and slowly closed. He felt something soft pressed on his forehead, followed by a whisper of. "Get well soon, Jade. I love you."
Jade hummed, a silent 'I love you too' before he went unconscious.
When he woke up the second time, Trey was still on the chair, snoring softly, his hand holding on Jade's. That sight alone was enough to cure him somehow.
