Levy

I know Gajeel loves me. I know he does. All the things he does for me. He is a great boyfriend. I fantastic boyfriend. He treats me well. Spoils me, what else could I want? I have the man of my dreams.

Except, the man of my dreams. Can't say 'I love you'.
Our whole relationship I have not once heard an I love you. Not once.

I know he loves me. He loves me a lot. But sometimes. I doubt myself. Does he really love me? If he did why can't he say it?

I know he's a tough guy and 'no feelings' is his thing.
But we all feel, I know he's felt pain and suffering. I know he's felt pride and anger.

I know he's felt cocky and laughter.
But how can I say he's felt love if he can't say he loves me. I know he's loved Metallicana. But love from kin. Is not love from a partner.

There's a difference. You feel things differently when your "in love" than when you "love"

You can love many things. He lies iron, he loves fighting. But there's a different level. When you say I love you to a lover. It just means something. Higher.

He can't say it too me. So I'm no different from his Nakama, or his kin. He doesn't feel we are at that level like I do. I have tried to say I love you. I know he could hear. He didn't say it back. He pretended not too hear.

My heart shattered beyond belief.
I've been eating for too long not to hear those three words.

Gajeel is a confusing man. I can't tell if he doesn't want to say it. Or can't say it.

I snapped out of my thoughts at the bar when a yellow blur wraps around me.

"LEVY!!" The high pitched girl screamed.

"Yes?! yes?! Lucy what's wrong?!" I yelled pulling her off of me.

"Nothing is WRONG." Lucy yelled excited.

"Than why are you screaming and you look like you've been crying?" I asked concerned.

"I HAVE BEEN CRYING. TEARS OF JOY!!" Lucy continued to drag out what she wanted to say.

"WHAT THAN." I yelled.

"NATSU PROPOSED!" She stuck he hand into my face. A big ol' fat diamond ring sitting on her finger.
I gasped.

"LUCY IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!" I screamed hugging her. I was absolutely ecstatic for her.

Natsu always had her attention.

"Levy. Will you be you bride of honor?" Lucy asked looking serious.

I was shocked.
"I-I uh. yes! I will!" I stuttered out. I never thought I'd ever be a bride of honor. Lucy hugged me tightly. And I waved goodbye after she skipped along home to probably go say I love you too Natsu.

I decided to go home.
I didn't feel as happy for Lucy as I wanted to be. Lucy boyfriend just fucking proposed to her. And my boyfriend can't even say I love you to me.

Gajeel and I had been in a relationship a little less than 2 or 3 weeks after Natsu as Lucy got together. And their relationship wasn't even moving fast. Gajeel and I. Just move slow I guess.

My heart dropped. Maybe Gajeel really doesn't love me....

Gajeel (before Levy went home)

I was pacing around my room. Fucking flamebrain just proposed to his girl.
And I can't even say "I love you" to my girlfriend when she's not asleep!
I say it too her a lot. She just... Doesn't hear it.

I felt bad. I know she's been wanting to hear me say it. She's said it to me a couple times, but I want to say it too her first. So I pretend not to hear it.
I don't want to be a guy who can't make the first move. I need to be the rock for her.
I need to be tough for the both of us when she can't. When she needs me I have to be strong. I can't be a weak bastard who can't say three words.

I punched my wall. Hard.

Lily must have heard. He came in my room.

"You okay Gajeel?" I looked over to him with burning eyes.

"Fucking Fireface can propose to his girlfriend. And I can't say I love you too mine." I snapped at Lily. I didn't care either.

"Hey. You know Natsu just shoved the ring on her said told her she's his wife. Right?" Lily said trying to comfort me.

"That doesn't change the fact that Levy hasn't heard an I love you from me yet." I said sharply.

"Then say it." Lily said as if it's the easiest thing In the world.

"I've tried. The words just. Get caught in my throat. And my throat goes dry. It's like my body doesn't want to say it." I tried to explain just what it feels like. I flopped onto my bed.

"It's not your body Gajeel." Lily said sitting down next to me.

"Than what is it?" I spat.

"It's you." Lily said softly.

"What?!" I yelled turning to him.

"You're scared of rejection." Lily continued. "You're scared she doesn't love you back. You don't want to look like and idiot falling for someone who doesn't love you back..." Lily stopped.
"But you know she loves you. What makes you not want to say it?"

"I've hurt her...." I said almost inaudibly.

"THAT IS WHAT'S STOPPING YOU?!" Lily transformed into his battle form and stood up. Screaming at me.

"YOU MUST NOT KNOW HOW IT FEELS!!" I stood up and screamed back. Lily pushed me hard onto the bed

"YOU MESSED UP OKAY! LEVY NOT MAD AT YOU ANYMORE. You guy are a COUPLE." Lily screamed at looked at me seriously.
"YOU. ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO HASN'T FORGIVEN YOU." Lily stopped.
"You are scared Gajeel. I thought tough guys aren't scared of anything? But you. You're scared of a little 4 foot 11 inch tall girl." Lily stopped.

"Her height doesn't make her weak." I said looking down.

"And your muscles don't make you strong." Lily snapped.
"All I'm saying is. You think you hurt her? You're hurting her right now."
The voice was soft. But stern.

I looked up at him quickly.

"Natsu and Lucy got into a relationship around the same time you and Levy did?" Lily made a face, that demanded a response.

I nodded.

"They are getting married. You haven't said I love you to her. She has every right to think that you don't love her." Lily said looking at me shaking his head lightly.

"But I do love her." I said sadly, and weakly.

"THAN GET YOUR ASS OVER THERE AND TELL HER." Lily grabbed me by the collar lifted me off the bed and pushed me hard towards the door..

I didn't look back. I ran out the door and sprinted all the way to Levy.
I was running through streets and than I saw the guild. I'm so close.
My heart started racing.

I ran as fast as my legs would take me.
I saw the low head of blue hair. She must be reading.

But I didn't stop running. I kept going. I only stopped once I was close to running into her.

"Levy." I grabbed her and she gasped.

"Hey Gajeel." Levy said a bit less happy than I had hoped.

"Levy. You know how I am. I fucking bad with words. I'm not as smart as you. You already know this. But if this sounds dumb. Don't blame me." I said out of breath. I paused and took a deep breath.
"Levy. You are my everything. I need you more than I need oxygen. Levy. I fucking love you. I love you Levy." I said looking pleadingly.

Levy stood there frozen.

"Gajeel. You don't know how long I've waited for you to say that!" Levy jumped into my arms.

"But I do. I just wanted to be the one to say it first. I'm sorry." I said hugging her tighter.

"Gajeel. I love you. I love you so much." I felt Levy clutch me tighter and I felt warm tears fall onto my shoulder.

"Stop your crying. I love you too."

I carried her back to my house where Lily was on the couch. I nodded to him. And he gave me a smile.

I tucked levy into my bed and I laid with her.

"I love you Levy. I promise I'll say it more." I whispered into her sleeping ear.

I fell asleep, happier than I'd ever been in my life.
