SCENE EIGHT

EXT. GREEN LEAVES FUNERAL HOME - NOON

PERSON: We are all gathered here today to mourn the loss of Maria Green.

EVERLY rolled her eyes as the person's words faded away and she loses herself in a memory of her mother.

Flashback

YOUNG five-year-old EVERLY was running up to her mother who was sitting calmly on the couch reading a book.

YOUNG EVERLY: Mommy, look at the picture I drew!

The picture was of Everly, her mother, and her father all together holding hands.

MOM: Aw, what a beautiful picture honey! I'll hang it on the fridge.

YOUNG EVERLY'S MOTHER got up and used the alphabet magnets that were on the fridge to hang the picture.

YOUNG EVERLY: Mommy?

MOM: Yes, sweetheart?

YOUNG EVERLY: We'll always be together forever and ever, right?

YOUNG EVERLY'S MOTHER gave her a small smile. It looks strained but she does her best to hide it and instead of telling the truth, she tells her daughter what every parent tells their child.

MOM: Yes, sweetheart. We'll always be together. Forever and ever.

End of Flashback

PERSON: Everly? Everly! Everly!

EVERLY slowly removes herself from the memory looking around with wide eyes to find the person who had been calling her name.
