THE SUN casted a soft orange glow over the training fields as Amber Maximoff sat on the edge of the facility's rooftop with her eyes closed just absorbing the suns rays. It was peaceful up there and maybe that's why she liked it so much. It was like a haven in the chaos of reality.

The girl had awoken a mere hour ago with a head splitting headache and streaked mascara. There had been a glass of water and aspirin on her bedside table with a small note from Steve which she didn't read. Instead she crumpled it and threw it straight into the bin and crept onto the roof.

It truly was tranquil watching the sun lift itself over the horizon and let its light spread over the land. It was the euphoric feeling of complete calmness and quiet, which was something Amber had been lacking lately.

She didn't know how long she'd been up there for or if anyone else was awake all she knew was the heavy feeling that wouldn't budge. Amber looked down at her feet as they dangled over the edge, usually people would find a height like this to be dangerous, but something about it sent reassurance throughout her body.

"You shouldn't be up here" a soft voice spoke up from beside her, Amber squeezed her eyes shut  trying to avoid the eye contact of the person beside her. Against the will of her mind, her body turned to face where the voice was coming from. Upon her eyes landing on the figure, her heart dropped and a twinge of pain trickled through her.

"And you, shouldn't be here at all" Amber whispered, her voice cracking as she met the familiar green, welcoming eyes of the person beside her.

"Touche Amber, touche" Natasha chuckled, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "This was always your spot. I remember sending out agents to find you, only to have them scream upon seeing you on the roof." A cold silence fell over the two while Amber digested the situation.

A singular tear fell from her eye when the girl blinked, "Why did you do it? Why did you jump?" Amber croaked, her heartbreaking at the sight of Natasha frowning. The woman looked conflicted, "It was supposed to be me. I was already over the edge. Why didn't you just let me do it?"

"You have so much to live for Amber." The red head answered, "I only had the team, you have your sister, the kids at the orphanage, the world needed you more then it needed me". Amber shook her head, more tears falling.

"But I need you." Amber whimpered, it was as if she was suddenly transported back to the days after Pietro and Sokovia. "I need a Natasha Romanoff in my life. You were the glue-you held us together these past few years. You were like a mother to me"

"And it was my time to go." Natasha whispered, placing a hand on the girls shoulder, making Amber shiver from head to toe, she looked down and when she looked back up to reply, the woman had vanished, and a small weight was lifted.

The girl bit her lip suppressing any others tears from falling as she stood up and stepped off the edge she sat upon. She turned her back on her surroundings and made her way off the flat roof. Amber slowly crept into the kitchen, and grabbed a glass from the counter.

"...As she reached into the cupboard, the soft tapping of keys on a computer sent her into high alert" a voice resounded from behind the girl. Amber quickly spun on her heel only to have her eyes land on a girl sitting behind a laptop, her eyes glued to the screen as she continued writing, occasionally stopping to blow a strand of curly hair out of her face.

Amber walked closer, her hands glowing a faint lilac as the girl looked up. "Who are you?!" Amber demanded, her voice steady and even.

The girl smiled, and slowly closed the laptop shut. "It's okay- don't worry." She reassured the older girl, "I'm just about to leave."

Amber raised her arms higher, as the girl stood up, holding her laptop precariously and walked out of the kitchen, "WAIT!" The older girl yelled after the mysterious girl, making her freeze. "Who are you?".

The girl glanced behind her, "All you need to know is that I'm a friend." The girl walked away further before turning back once more, "Also, Remember Amber- you're stronger than you think. We're all counting on you."

Amber chased after her, as the girl turned the corner but when Amber caught up the girl had vanished. She ran a frustrated hand through her purple locks, What was happening with her? Why was this happening?

"You up long?" Amber jumped in fright as a deep voice spoke up from behind her. She turned to see Clint, leaning against the doorway. Her wide, frightened eyes casted around the room as if trying to figure out if this was real of some illusion.

"No-" she said briefly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Amber was contemplating on telling Clint about Nat and the girl but she didn't want to sound crazy.

"You're lying." Clint pointed out, his arms folded as the girls shoulders sagged slightly.

"How do you know?" Amber asked curiously. Nobody had ever usually really caught onto her lies so this was definitely an odd turn of events.

"Your lip twitches when you lie." Clint observed, "I thought after yesterday's fiasco you'd still be in bed."

"Maybe that's the reason I'm awake then- I'm not religious but I find myself doing some sort of penance." Amber mused, grabbing aspirin and a glass from the cupboard.

"Amber, it's not your faul-" Clint started only to be cut off by the girl sighing in frustration.

"As much as I'd love to believe that- it's not true Clint. It won't ever be true. Did you know that I was so ready to just- fall. To leave this behind and see my brother, my parents." Amber interrupted, swapping her pill with a gulp of water,

"I just wished she'd let me."
