Chapter 4
I wake up in the morning with something playing with my hair. I open my eyes and its the puppy hopping around and pulling on my braid that I had pulled my hair into last night before I went to bed, but now its all ruined. "Good morning Oliver." Slips out of my mouth. It barks and sits quietly. "Oliver." I say sitting up. He wobbles over to me. I smile. "That's your name.. Oliver." I say. He barks again and sticks out his tongue. I chuckle.
"Okay. Let's start the day off right buddy." I say picking him up and setting him on the floor so that he can follow me. I walk over to the bathroom to freshen up. I'm about to start breakfast when there's a knock at my door. I don't hesitate to walk over. I look though my peep hole, only to find myself smiling. I open the door. "Good morning Hoseok. Good morning Sunny." I say. He smiles at me. "Good morning Faith .. Good morning puppy." He says.
His eyes scan up and down my body. "You don't look ready to go." He chuckles. I look down at myself, I'm wearing my pajama shorts and my Star Wars sweater. "Oops.. Um. Come in. Come in." I say. He gladly walks in.

What should I wear? I look through my clothes, all are either business attire or pajamas. Luckily I find yoga pants back when I was into fitness. And I throw on a t shirt. I look at my hair, such a scary forest. I comb it back into a high pony tail. And head out the room.
There he is, playing with the puppy. Such a cute site, once the puppy spots me he trots over to me, pulling on my yoga pants with his paw. I pick him up. "Ready?" He asks. I smile and nod.

We walk into a nearby pound. The smell was clean, surprisingly, and when the animals hear the door ring they all go crazy. "Hello. How may I help you lovely couple today?" The lady asks. I blush at her comment and I begin to feel the tension. Hoseok clears his throat. "We found this puppy yesterday and we just want to find out if he has a owner.." He says. The lady puts on her glasses and examines the puppy in my arms.
I set him on the counter and she takes out some kind of electronic wand. She runs it over his little body. "Usually the chip would be in this area." She points to the puppies neck. Her eyebrows knit and she purses her lips. "It doesn't seem that he has a chip. Let's a least see if his description is under the "lost my dog" site." She says walking over to the computer. "He's a beagle?" She asks. "Yes." I answer.
The sound of her typing makes me nervous, the thought of losing Oliver makes me a bit sad. It makes me feel alone, more than I already am. The lady taps her chin with a pen. "There is a person searching for a beagle puppy.." My heart stops. "But the descrition is for a female puppy... And this one is obviously a male." She says. She smiles at me. "If you're planning on keeping this puppy you're in luck. It doesn't have an owner." She tells me.
I look at Hoseok and he nods with a smile. "I would like to keep him." I tell her. She smiles and nods. "Okay. Would you like to get his shots and chip right now? Luckily its half off since he's tiny and he's a stray." I nod.

We step out of the pound and Hoseok looks at me. "So. How does it feel to own a dog?" He asks. I smile, "great." I say. We stand there for a while... Staring at each other. "Oh! Maybe I should take you to the pet shop. So I can help you out with what you'll need for him." He says. I nod. "Thank you."
I set Oliver down and he gladly walks next to me, hopping along. "So. Tell me about you Faith... What do you do?" He asks. A part of me want's to lie and make it seem like I had a amazing life, talk about things I'd like to have in my life. But my mind was telling me to do the right thing. I let out a breath. "Well.. I'm your average girl who likes to binge watch Grays Anatomy." He chuckles. "What do you do?" He asks. "I'm a business woman at Lean Industry.." I peep.
He looks at me with his eyebrows knitted. "You work there?" He asks, his tone a bit surprised but had a pinch of a rude side. I look down at Oliver who's trailing behind. I squat down and pick him up. "Yeah... Why?" I ask. He frowns. "Not to disappoint you or what not... But Lean industry screwed me over. I was in debt for three years, until I was able to get out of that pit of shit that company put me in." He tells me. I keep my head down, listening quietly to his words.
How would he feel if he knew that my father owned that company? And that I was runner up to take over?? My heart pounds to the thought. "But hey.. That Lean Heon is gonna get what comes to him. Thinking that he owns Korea, just because he's got everyone tied around his little pinkie and he has access to all the money he desires.." He stops and I look up at him. He's staring at me in concern.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to turn your answer into a huge disapproval speech.. Its just that.. I don't think that Lean Industry has a right to do such thing to innocent people." He tells me, and I agree with him. He's right, my father doesn't have the right to take advantage of the weak. I bite my lip and shake my head. "No you're completely right." I tell him. He tilts his head, "so.. Why do you work there anyways?" My heart pounding in my ears. Should I tell him?
"My father forced me." I say to him. He frowns. "Well.. That's really horrible, forcing you to work for a horrid industry.. What do you really want to do?" He asks as we stop at a cross walk. I run my fingers along Olivers soft fur. "Its really stupid." I tell him. He shakes his head. "Don't say that. I bet its much better than working for Heon." He says, and the way he said my father's name with such hate gave me shivers down my spine.
"I want to paint.." I tell him as we cross the street. He smiles at me. "You paint?" He asks. I feel my face heat up. "Yes.. But my father highly disapproves." He looks down and shakes his head lightly. "I think that's great. I hate hearing parents disapprove their children's lives like its their own." He says looking at me. "You're right..." I tell him. A grin spreads on his face.
"Its not about being right.. Its about speaking your mind. Saying what's technically correct to motivate others..." He says. I nods at his words. "But yeah. I guess in other words I'm right." He chuckles. I smile at him.
We enter the pet store and I hear screeching of birds and barking dogs. "Ya!! Hoseok-ah!" A young woman near my age greets us. She's pretty, straight long black hair with front bangs. A big smile, much like Hoseoks smile. I'd say she must be his girlfriend, they would look cute together. He walks up to her and hugs her. She's a bit shorter than him but is much taller than me.
"Sunny! How's my girl!?" She asks and Sunny jumps up and basically gives her a bear hug while licking her face. I feel so out of place. Hoseok and this girl laugh and talk for a while until he finally looks at me. "Oh! Faith this is Nari. Nari this is Faith." He says. She smiles at me. "Hi. Faith is such a pretty name." She says. I smile back and shake her hand. "Thank you. Its a pleasure to meet you." I tell her, she looks down at Oliver in my arms.
"Oh. Such a cute puppy! What's his name?" She asks as she pets him. "Oliver." I tell her. She smiles. "He's quite precious.. Yours? Or one of Hoseoks little warriors he found off the street?" She asks. I let her take him from my arms, being that my arms have become hot and sweaty from his body heat. "Both." I say. She smiles. "Well. He seems to be very sweet.." She says as she looks down and pets Oliver. "He is." I say.
"Faith.. Why don't you come with me buy Oliver his things." Hoseok calls for me. Nari hands Oliver back to me. I follow him into the aisles.
"She's nice isn't she?" He asks me as he looks my way. I slightly nod, not knowing what to think or how to respond. He doesn't seem to notice and continues to grab things. I find myself staring at him. Wondering if that was his girlfriend. "So tell me about you.." I finally say cutting through the quiet atmosphere. He looks at me and grins, " What do you want to know?" He asks. I shrug. "What do you do?" I ask. His chin goes up.
"I work on the doc. Loading boxes and sending out shipments." He says. My eyebrow goes up. "Oh? That explains the muscles." I chuckle. He smiles. "Nah." He says as his cheeks begin to show color. I laugh. He looks at his full arms. "I should have gotten a cart." He laughs. "I got it." I say leaving the aisle to get a cart. I set Oliver inside and head back to Hoseok. He smiles at me and sets the things in the cart. Sunny jumps inside with Oliver.
"Sunny.. You're too big girl." He says but she gladly sits down anyways.
Once we were done we head over to the cash register. "Found everything just fine I see." Nari says. I nod. She scans everything. "33,920.575000 won is your total." I look at Hoseok. He puts up a hand and pulls out his wallet. "I got it." He says. I frown. "No I.." He stops me. "I said I got it." He says. I look at Nari and she just stares at me with a straight expression, her eyes scanning my body up and down as if judging every piece of me.
And I'm confused on what I've done for her to stare at me in such way. When Hoseok turns her way she throws out a huge smile at him. Mentally my jaw drops, she's a fake person. "Awe. Hoseok you're such a kind person." She says chuckling. "No. Just helping out my friend Faith."
Friend. Not that I wanted something more.. Or maybe I did.
**
I unlock the door then turn towards him. He smiles. "Thank you.. So much Hoseok." I say. He nods. He's about to turn when he stops himself. I turn into my house. "Faith..?" It stops me in my tracks. I look over my shoulder and say nothing. "Would you..." He stops and clears his throat. "Have you eaten breakfast?" He asks. I turn fully. "Because ... I wanted to know if you'd like to come with me to breakfast." He finally says. I break out in a smile.
"I'd love to. Just let me set all this stuff down." I say. He nods.
**
"So.. Nari is.." I can't finish. He laughs. "She's just a childhood friend. I see her like a sister." He says. "Why you ask?" Jealousy? I shrug. "She just looks like she likes you, that's all." I confess. His eyebrow goes up and he sips on his coffee. "I don't know what to say.." He chokes. I look down at my plate. "Has she ever confessed?" I ask curious. He slightly nods and I feel my heart stop.
"It was back in the high school years.. And I felt bad when I didn't feel the same way and she broke down in front of me. But I insisted that we stayed friends because I cherished her friendship.. And we've been friends ever since." He says staring into my eyes. I gulp. "Faith??" I turn to the voice that just called my name and my heart stops.
