199. Hiding Places

January 16, 2019

"Write about places you like to hide things at. What was a favorite hiding spot for you as a child playing hide-and-seek?"

My favourite hiding place, between the pages of a book- for mind, heart and soul as well as paper notes (It is a standard joke, sort of, each time I clean my bookshelf, I grow richer as I find out all the notes that I have stashed inside).

Next would be shoe boxes - you get such lovely strong ones for some brands - they are not exactly hiding places, or could be for few expect them to hold treasures. Mine do - letters (when it was still lovely to write them, I hate WhatsApp and the mobile phone for almost destroying that practice, which was both an art and craft. I also have a large one to hold my pens (coloured, fancy, fountain, normal, 'use and throw', spares for pens).

And of course, photographs. There is something both romantic and nostalgic about storing them in shoe boxes.

Lastly, I also use a old battered metal trunk; it belonged to my father and travelled quite a bit across the country in its heyday. Now, I keep my knickknacks and have covered it with a old worn out quilt, so that it doubles as a low seat. And that makes it a great hiding place.
