XXXVI. Overprotective (Part 2) | Chadwick Boseman
{Twelve Years Later...}
"You're not going to interrogate Alex, are you?" you ask, calmly, from the sofa.
Chadwick paces in front of you, a scowl on his face. Your husband of over twenty years is losing his mind. "It's my daughter's first date. Of course I'm going to interrogate him."
You roll your eyes. "Don't you think you're being melodramatic? From what [Y/d/n] has said about Alex, they sound wonderful."
"Yeah...but we don't know him."
"Just...try to be nice?"
Chadwick starts talking to himself. "First, I'm going to interrogate him, find out his motives. Then I'm going to follow them the entire night. Then--"
"--Okay, Black Panther. Calm down."
You hear the doorbell ring. Chadwick walks to the door as your daughter rushes down the stairs, looking ready for her date. "Um...Dad? There's something I haven't told you about Alex--"
Before she can finish, Chadwick opens the door with a firm, very Dad-like expression. When we see who's on the other side, his expression immediately changes to surprise.
On the other side of the door stands Alex, a very pretty red-head girl. She smiles at Chadwick. "Hi, Mister Boseman. I'm Alex."
Chadwick says a small "Hi," and lets Alex inside. Since your husband is too stunned to say anything, you give your daughter and Alex the "be-safe-and-be-home-on-time-talk. They agree and leave with your blessing.
After they're gone, you turn to Chadwick with amusement all over your face. "Well, that was a surprise."
He shakes his head, coming out of his daze. "Y'know what? I think she'll be just fine on her own."
You walk with your husband to the sofa, chuckling.
Once seated, Chadwick turns to you, asking, "Did you know?" You shrug, smirking. He laughs, relaxing back into the sofa. "I'm totally okay with it. I just...Alex is a girl...I didn't see that coming."
