XCI. Dark Enough ☭ Natasha

You started to notice Natasha's absence a few days after a mission. You, a SHIELD agent like her, were sent out by Captain America to take down a small HYDRA base in Poland. Natasha and Clint had accompanied you. However, Clint said that one of the agent said something to Natasha while they were inside, something that set the Russian assassin off.

"Something about her past," Clint whispered to you as you arrived back at the Tower. "Don't take it personally if she disappears."

And she did. You haven't seen Natasha for almost three days. She's been in her room, and sometimes you can hear crying or her foreign language coming from the other side of the door.

Finally, you get the courage to knock. "Natasha?" your shaky voice whispers. "Natasha, please let me in. I know...I know you're dealing with some stuff from your past. Let me in. Let me help."

The door unlocks, to your surprise, and you push it open. Her room is dark, but you can see the red-haired figure of your closest friend sitting at the bottom of her bed, knees pulled up to her chest.

You approach her, sitting beside her with your back against the bed. You see a bottle of Vodka in her grasp. Her eyes are far away. "I'm losing myself again," she whispers, finally. "I can feel it."

You reach for the bottle, gently taking it from her hand. "You aren't, Tash. I promise."

"My mind's dark enough," she mutters, leaning against my shoulder. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you when I was hurting."

You reach down and grasp her hand in yours, leaning your head against hers. "Wanna talk about it?"

She shakes her head, snuggling closer. "Maybe tomorrow."

You press a kiss to her forehead. "Tomorrow it is."
