That's the lesson Erik Lensherr seems to be learning over and over. Everything he's loved, everyone he's loved, just seem to dissipate like smoke. Charles, Raven, the mutants.

You were his saving grace. Ever since he moved to Germany, to hide, you and he had become close. He wasn't Magneto anymore; he was just Erik. And you loved him.

"Wow," he mouthed, looking at you as you walk from your house in a beautiful dress. It was your last date; he remembered it well. "You look..."

"I know," you smile, taking his hand. "Are we ready to have some fun?"

Little did he know that someone was waiting in the shadows of the house. He followed the two of you to the car, pointing a gun at Erik's head. "I know who you are!"

Erik didn't flinch, merely stood in front of you. "You don't want to do this."

The madman's hand shook. "You killed my family! You and your mutant crusade!"

"Erik," you mumbled, "his gun. It isn't metal."

Erik's breathing hitched as he realized that a plastic weapon was being pointed at him. "Please, I have changed. Don't do this."

"I don't want to kill you. You killed my family. Now, I kill yours." He turns the weapon sharply and shoots at you beside Erik.

The bullet struck you in the sternum, causing you to fall backwards onto the pavement. Erik screamed, throwing his hand up and choking the gunman with the chain around his neck. Erik cradled you in his arms as he watched the life drain from your face. "Please, don't go." Tears fall down both of your faces.

"You'll see me in your dreams, Erik." You give him a soft smile, then pass in his arms.
